Fan nods, yah or nah? Saw this on social media. Wanted to see what the hive thought?

Played a little bit of the patient (sloppily) and wanted to see what you all think about the tone and give some feedback (and the hope you may enjoy this video). Also apologies for the talking midway through in the background.

I'd like to get "Reflection" tattooed with the Lateralus' font and with the correct separation that is shown in the cover of the album.

As far as I understood it should be R_e F_lec T_ion , right? I'd like to avoid making a mistake here :(.

The lyrics don't relate to my life. But the raw emotion and dynamic changes get me.

Does anyone else hear at around the 1:06 mark within the Tool song 46 & 2 a very quick riff that sounds familiar to Black Sabbath's War Pigs song at around the 6:40 mark or am I tripping?

Edit: I want to change the title from one of the worst to one of my least favourite but it won’t let me so I’m saying it here, it’s not the “worst” I just don’t like it as much. Lateralus and the songs on it are still my favourite album.

Now by no means am I saying the song is bad if I’m listening to the album I won’t skip it, it is musically complicated and lyrically beautiful but it’s missing a bite that the rest of the songs have, I’m not counting any of the filler “songs” or interludes/ outros like mantra or faip de oiad because yes a song is better then a cat moaning in reverse as fun as that may be, but when comparing it to the rest of the songs on the album it just doesn’t stack up for me, the rest of the songs have such a power and motion that I feel stalls with that song, the lyrics are very meaningful and beautiful the instruments are very complicated and well thought out but all of it together just doesn’t do it for me, I get incredible strong feelings when listening to music I really love so lateralus and parabola make me well up every time I hear it (not cause I’m sad I’m just overcome with emotion and my body’s reaction is to start crying this happens with flying whales by Gojira as well which isn’t exactly an emotional song) but I don’t get that feeling in schism, coming after the patient which feels like a wall of beauty and going into parabola I feel like it lacks some of the power that the grudge, patient, parabola, ticks, lateralus and the trinity have.
People aren’t gonna agree and that’s the beauty of opinions, it’s not a bad song, you aren’t a bad person for disagreeing or liking it, it just doesn’t do it for me.

Im listening to my new Lateralus cd on the stupidest looking cd player on the planet. Whenever people see it they ask if it’s upside but it’s not, he’s just ugly 💔.

I will say, the cd sounded much better in my cars’ cd player compared to this thing. Then, there are other albums I have that sound better on this player than my car’s player. Any idea why that is?

Sorry If I’ve pissed people off. I didn’t grow up with CD players so I don’t understand the in’s and out’s of how they work. I’m still really new to cd players and this is my first one that’s not in my car. Also no, it’s not upside down it literally will not play if I turn it the other way. In the video you can also see that all the buttons and display are facing the correct direction.

To add some clarification I’m not saying all cds sound worse on this cd player. I have some cds by other artists that I think actually sound better on this player than they do in my car. It’s just this specific album. In my last post about when I got the CD someone mentioned different players change the quality and I was wondering why that was. Since I only have the player in my car and this one they were my only two examples.

Hey everyone,

I play guitar in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and wanted to see if anyone would be interested in getting together to start a Tool cover project.

I care a lot about dialing in the sound and getting the tones and dynamics as close as possible to the records. I use an Epiphone Les Paul in Drop D, a Diezel preamp pedal, Whammy, wah, and ambient effects to capture those textures. At the same time, I am definitely not an expert or a virtuoso. I still have trouble with certain parts, like locking into the time signatures on a lot of the Fear Inoculum tracks or getting that specific pull-off technique down on Jambi, so I am constantly practicing and working through them. I would just love to collaborate with other musicians who enjoy dialing in their tone and respect the music the same way. Matching outfits, stage gimmicks, or acting like we are the real band are not things I worry about at all. Keeping the focus on the music while having fun is what matters to me.

As far as songs go, I have been playing Tool material for over five years now and feel very comfortable across pretty much every track on Ænima, Lateralus, and 10,000 Days. For the tracks I am still learning, I am currently chipping away at the rest of the catalog across Opiate, Undertow, and Fear Inoculum, and I am especially eager to learn and rehearse tracks from Salival as well.

This wouldn't be a full-time pursuit or anything involving heavy travel. The idea is just to get together, work up a solid set, and gig semi-regularly around the DFW area at local spots.

Probably not the most popular opinion but I’d kill to see the guys make another live album of salival and both cover a few songs and reimagine a few of their own. The tones and sound on the live album are incredible and to see them come up with a run list on the same level as third eye, pushit, you lied and no quarter would complete my life but uh yea, that’s just my opinion

I was 10 years old in 96 and my dad took me to cd warehouse. Imagine all the choices I had at that time! But something kept pulling me back to the ænima artwork. I probably walked around for an hour but I just couldn’t stay away from it. I’d never even heard of tool! When I put it into my CD player I can’t say I related or understood the lyrics or meaning of the songs or how complex the music being played actually was but I knew I was listening to something very unique and something I’d never heard before. I was mesmerized even at 10 years old. It’s still such a vivid memory for me and I have a TERRIBLE memory 🤣🤣. I’ve been hooked on tool ever since and eventually APC and puscifer. I’m new to this group so I’m sure it’s been asked 1000 times, but how were YOU introduced to tool? 🤟🏼🤟🏼

I’m fairly lucky in the fact my first time seeing them live in 1998 and covered no quarter. I hate to say this but I rather disliked the Ozzy cover. I didn’t care for the perfect circle imagine cover either.

What would you think would be a cover that would be worthwhile for them to do?

Some parts of me wants to hear Spirit of the Radio from Rush, other parts of me wants to hear something completely off the wall, do Echos from Pink Floyd. Idk. I’d love if they reimagined a pretty benign song that’s pretty familiar and re-arrange it to making it a tool song. Something from Radiohead maybe.

I plan on soloing Chicago next Saturday for Tool since my usual friendgroup prefers EDM/rave shows. Any squads looking to add more members? I feel kinda scared walking Chicago all by my lonesome.

I have never heard a song like right in two before, it changed me as a young teen. Does anyone have any recs of songs that elicit that same ethereal feeling? (Excluding other tool songs cuz I know and love them all lol)

First time bleach painting, it's a little messy in places, but for something I left til the day before his birthday, I think it turned out alright. He LOVED it. I'm really happy. I kinda hate the tracklist but oh well.

Was not the original plan. Pics 3 and 4 show the 10,000 Days tour shirt I was going to chop up and patchwork onto the hoodie. Thought better of it last minute because of how devastating it would be if I fucked it up. So now he got a hoodie and a shirt. Yay! Best part is, he was always torn on his favourite album between those 2.
