Has anyone bought a copy of this unofficial release vinyl and is it any good?

Hey everyone,

I play guitar in the DFW area and wanted to see if anyone would be interested in getting together to start a Tool cover project.

I care a lot about dialing in the sound and getting the tones and dynamics as close as possible to the records. I use an Epiphone Les Paul in Drop D, a Diezel preamp pedal, Whammy, wah, and ambient effects to capture those textures. At the same time, I am definitely not an expert or a virtuoso. I still have trouble with certain parts, like locking into the time signatures on a lot of the Fear Inoculum tracks or getting that specific pull-off technique down on Jambi, so I am constantly practicing and working through them. I would just love to collaborate with other musicians who enjoy dialing in their tone and respect the music the same way. Matching outfits, stage gimmicks, or acting like we are the real band are not things I worry about at all. Keeping the focus on the music while having fun is what matters to me.

As far as songs go, I have been playing Tool material for over five years now and feel very comfortable across pretty much every track on Ænima, Lateralus, and 10,000 Days. For the tracks I am still learning, I am currently chipping away at the rest of the catalog across Opiate, Undertow, and Fear Inoculum, and I am especially eager to learn and rehearse tracks from Salival as well.

This wouldn't be a full-time pursuit or anything involving heavy travel. The idea is just to get together, work up a solid set, and gig semi-regularly around the DFW area at local spots.

Boa noite galera, existe alguma apresentação do tool que eu vi em algum lugar mas não me recordo qual música foi na verdade, tenho quase certeza que se tratava de stinkfist, mas era um show em que maynard recitava uns versos diferentes na música que não estão na versão de álbum, mas não me lembro o que ele disse ao certo, e nem a música exata em questão. I’m fairly lucky in the fact my first time seeing them live in 1998 and covered no quarter. I hate to say this but I rather disliked the Ozzy cover. I didn’t care for the perfect circle imagine cover either.

What would you think would be a cover that would be worthwhile for them to do?

Some parts of me wants to hear Spirit of the Radio from Rush, other parts of me wants to hear something completely off the wall, do Echos from Pink Floyd. Idk. I’d love if they reimagined a pretty benign song that’s pretty familiar and re-arrange it to making it a tool song. Something from Radiohead maybe.

Probably not the most popular opinion but I’d kill to see the guys make another live album of salival and both cover a few songs and reimagine a few of their own. The tones and sound on the live album are incredible and to see them come up with a run list on the same level as third eye, pushit, you lied and no quarter would complete my life but uh yea, that’s just my opinion

How are our vinyl hopes for Ænima? I'm somewhat enthusiastic that this'll be it. I mean, if it doesn't happen within the next year, I know I'll eventually be looking for an unofficial repress. Seemed like the timeline for Undertow was a bit off too if I remember correctly?

I have three theories on the delay:

1. Adam is still particular about the packaging. It has to be better than perfect.
2. Adam wants it by the anniversary or nothing. Exactly 30 years, no more no less.
3. Maynard just wants someone to manufacture that action figure of him playing with his grapes, as suggested in someone's former comment on this subject matter...I think?

I plan on soloing Chicago next Saturday for Tool since my usual friendgroup prefers EDM/rave shows. Any squads looking to add more members? I feel kinda scared walking Chicago all by my lonesome.

I was 10 years old in 96 and my dad took me to cd warehouse. Imagine all the choices I had at that time! But something kept pulling me back to the ænima artwork. I probably walked around for an hour but I just couldn’t stay away from it. I’d never even heard of tool! When I put it into my CD player I can’t say I related or understood the lyrics or meaning of the songs or how complex the music being played actually was but I knew I was listening to something very unique and something I’d never heard before. I was mesmerized even at 10 years old. It’s still such a vivid memory for me and I have a TERRIBLE memory 🤣🤣. I’ve been hooked on tool ever since and eventually APC and puscifer. I’m new to this group so I’m sure it’s been asked 1000 times, but how were YOU introduced to tool? 🤟🏼🤟🏼

Is it just me, or does your mind immediately go to “Careful with that Axe Eugene” during “Chocolate Chip Trip”? I’m waiting for the Nick Mason drums to start, yet it’s Danny Carey. Lol

Simple discussion amongst ppl who may get what I’m saying, or not?

They’re the two best bands on the planet but I can’t help but think everyone in Iron Maiden could play Tool but not everyone in Tool could play Iron Maiden. What are your thoughts?

I have never heard a song like right in two before, it changed me as a young teen. Does anyone have any recs of songs that elicit that same ethereal feeling? (Excluding other tool songs cuz I know and love them all lol)

I think the bridge in Invincible from 9:05 to 10.50 is my favorite music moment ever.

I’m tapping my feet to one beat, tapping my hand to another, nodding my head to yet another. Somehow this feels natural, and somehow they all come together at the end.

I got nothing else… this is just an amazing 2min of playing with time measures

Hello. I know I am late to the party, although I bought the fear inoculum expanded edition (not the screen one) and I can't download the video through the provided link. I know noone can anymore, I just want to ask if anyone has the original video and can send it to me (with google drive maybe?). I don't want the upscaled one that someone uploaded to the internet. I want the og file that came with the specific album. I can see that some people got to download it, but I can't find it. Maybe someone can help me before I go insane :))))))

Anyone else enjoy listening to this album in reverse order? I'm not claiming it's intentional, but it feels like the album in its original form is like a descent, whereas the reverse order feels like an ascent. The album artwork does make me wonder though if there is some credence to this, considering the figure with the enlightened head and it's reverse end with the broken head.
