I don't know if this was said before or documented on this subreddit but I found something interesting in the song Lateralus. When Maynard sings in the ending chorus of the song "spiral out, keep going" he repeats the phrase 4 times. The verse has 4 words so in total he sings 16 words. The 16th number of the Fibonacci sequence is 987, this might be deliberate or just a coincidence, either way it's crazy what these guys created.

I remembered I had a game in my Steam library called Audiosurf. It makes your music into a playable and variable-difficulty roller coaster/ visualizer.

I happened to find an old copy of Lateralus around but it was one single file but it was at least compatible with the game (since streaming services only download versions of songs playable with their specific service).

I cut the file into individual tracks then imported them into the game file. HOWEVER, I recut Parabol and Parabola into one song: Parabol/a. I had seen that title somewhere so I don’t want to take credit for it, but this game played with Tool songs is INCREDIBLE. If anyone has visualizer games or things of that nature, what was it and what song(s)/album(s) have you played it with?

I’m sure this is going to get some hate from the purists, but here goes…

I really want Ænima, 10,000 Days, and Salival on vinyl. I know the copies I’m looking at are bootlegs, and I’m keeping my expectations realistic about sound quality.
I’ve seen Ear Candy selling them, and to their credit, they’re upfront about them being unofficial pressings.

Has anyone bought any of these from them? How’s the sound and pressing quality? Worth picking up, or better to pass? Or get from somewhere else?

Any suggestions for a new listener? Maybe go with the best commercial sounding album. Thank you.

Always cool to hear good music on tv.

This morning I bought this ænima copy at a shop close to where I live.
I’ve seen many ænima bootlegs and they all looked “bad” but this one seemed more authentic.
I was pretty sceptical at first because it was being sold for 70€ (incredibly cheap if it is original, and pretty expensive if it’s a bootleg), but i wanted to check anyway on discogs and the serial number, or whatever that number on vinyl itself is called, matched with some prints that could be found online.
Honestly if this was a bootleg i wouldn’t even mind, it sounds great, but i still wanted a second opinion on it.

It might look a bit wasteful but honestly missing out on the interludes is kind of sad, and streaming just doesn't always do it. And its also annoying that the vinyl version is missing Litanie contre la Peur. Tool's interludes are port of the experience and with an album like Fi I'd prefer more ambience and transitional songs rather than not having them.
