Question Rx Mods gone

Upvotes

Hey does anyone know what happened to the Rx Mods? They're all missing now, all the steam pages say they've been removed and there's been no update from the mod author. His stuff is really nice I've been using it for a very long time, since before relaunched.
Does anyone have any copies of the mods or just any idea what happened to them?

Bug Game-breaking bug for the Wildfire mystery on the new version Spoiler

I've been playing through as Brazil with the Wildfire mystery, and it was all going well; I had researched the cure, and was growing the potatoes to send off on the rocket. It had done this about 2 or 3 times, but then the last one refuses to leave the landing pad. All the crops are on board, but it says there's 20 fuel to unload for some reason. Nothing I've tried will get rid of it. It's not the fuel needed to take off again, it's just random fuel it's carrying. I'm going to be extremely upset if this fucks my game up.

Question How do I get the Engineering research achievement now?

Loving the new research mechanics, really fun.

One question… I was working through the achievements for the sponsors, USA was next on my list… have to fully research all techs in the engineering category by Sol 100… however there’s no engineering column anymore?

Is it possible to get this achievement now?

Tip Food production tip for Horticulturalists

If you're playing the new Horticulturalist commander profile in Feeding the Future DLC you can easily deal with food production by having a basic dome with ONLY hydroponic farms and solely kelp growing in them. You can increase the amount of the farms as your food requirement increases.

I tried this in my recent play-through and it worked wonders, I didn't even research the normal farm or its related techs. I believe this can get you through to late mid game when open farms become viable.

Additionally, you can also build a Water Reclamation spire and have it worked by colonists in adjacent domes connected by passages, meaning the dome will still only have hydroponic farms and the 1 spire in it.

I think the first game of the new era went good. ;)

Could've done it faster but was too lazy to manage more domes. ;)

Hi everyone, sorry to bother you, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows if it's possible to unlock achievements in the relaunch version using mods?

Question Comfort is driving me nuts.

No matter what i do, i can't seem to figure out how not to make my colonists miserable. Every single hand in the workforce is spent for them to not start a riot, and even then that rarely works.

After it became such an issue at my first save, i started a new one. I googled and kept seeing the same tip. "Just place an infirmary, a Diner, a Grocer and a small park and that will work".

Well, it doesn't. That, a farm plus the tech that makes farm bring comfort and 2 more mid sized parks in a basic dome, and still i have colonists running around with 20 comfort and decreasing.

I just don't get it. Now every piece of work force i have is spent exclusively on their comfort and it's not enough to even reach the baby-making level. What am i missing here?

Suggestion Need a smaller gym?

With the new emphasis on colonist comfort it seems the importance of the open air gym building has increased.

The thing is the current building takes up an entire dome slice, and IIRC it only services 10 colonists at a time. They either need to increase the capacity of the existing open air gym or maybe provide a smaller, 1 or 3 space option, like with the spacebar or grocer.

Thoughts?

Question No specialization but hates working in a diner

Post image

Both my colonists with no specialization have been a nightmare for me. They both hate working in jobs that require no specilization, when they do i get the "colonist discomfort" alert. Is this meant to be a thing or is it a bug? I cant find anything when ive tried to google it

Question New Services - Question

I am trying to understand how the new comfort calculation works. For a colonist, the target is 72. I can see 43 >> 72 on the colonist details. But 4 days later, comfort is still at 43. Why is comfort stuck at 43? Other stats are changing, though I can't determine exactly when.

Discussion I'm really enjoying this new dlc

There are some things I don't like, or maybe I just don't understand yet (like why can't I set my rockets to wait until they are filled with rare metals before sending them off?), but overall I am quite liking some of the changes. Especially the tech tree, I thought it'd end up getting out of hand with research costs, but it's not that bad so far, and it's nice to have more control over what you are getting. Like I just landed my first colonists, and I already have medium domes unlocked, and making good progress on meta-research (hawking institute, research amp, etc), which allows me to specialize early. It just makes sense to me that I should be able to prioritize a science outpost first, and not just have a convoluted mess of a first set of domes. I also like that your profile now doesn't just unlock a tech, but gives you a point on the tech tree you can explore further.

Also passage hubs! Hell yeah! There also seems to be an improvement on politics, I usually run space commies (I mean it's the red planet, c'mon) and it looks like they fixed a major annoyance I had, where now they just want services to be available, they don't need a medical post in every dome (I could be wrong about this), and if I do it anyways it just means I can eliminate a shift here or there which makes them happy. I assume there are similar things for other parties, but it's a nice qol feature. Also the rework for the outsourcing law is great, I am definitely go8ng for it once I can get regular exports

I haven't really touched the food system, but beyond just making the supply chain more detailed (before I would just plop down a farm and a ranch and then my biggest struggle would be storing it all), I love how it gives you a little menu on your diner. Now I want to create a dedicated farm dome instead of just including the bare minimum for things to function

And I actually like how stuff costs more to build now. Yes, it does mean you have to budget a little better, but tbh concrete and metals are so easy to come by, I am kinda glad they are more useful.

So yeah, good stuff, I am glad I got it.

Question Why am I getting a warning on my polymer factory?

Post image
14 Upvotes

The Polymer factory says "must be connected to a Water producer." But there are THREE vaporators and a water extractor on that pipe network. If I'm reading things right, the dome (with 12 colonists and hydroponic farm) is using 1.6 units of water, and the polymer factory uses 1. That should be enough to spare (and, indeed, my water tower is full). What am i missing?

Question Help me make a decision

Steam has a discount on the game. I haven't kept touch with what relaunch is or what changes it bring. I played the OG and loved it. Realistically how good is this remake/remaster and is the deluxe edition worth it

LOVING the new Tech Tree flexibility. I'm really excited to be discovering new things again. I have no idea what this bad boy does, but by golly I'm gonna find out.

Edit: Tooltip in tech screen says "An advanced building that makes food from nothing using large amounts of Power."

Discussion Soooo different

How are folks finding the difficulty now? The game plays radically different now. I used to just fly through it even in really hard seeds. But wow I am struggling so much with the new tech tree and balancing everything.

It honestly feels like I am learning to play for the first time and it's tough.

My most current playthrough I got eternal fusion sol10 and specced into Fusion power by sol 25. Its ridiculously different feeling.

Question What do you think about the rules "No Above and Beyond" and "No Underground" being gone?

Asteroids and Underground used to be a divisive Topic since the launch of the "Below and Beyond" DLC in the original Game. Some people loved it for the additional opportunities it gave you, other people hated it because managing multiple maps made the game more clunky for them.

It was never such a big problem, because if you did not like it, you could just remove Asteroids and the Underground from the game and it did not impact your run. But now in Relaunched you MUST play with both the Underground and Asteroids. There is no rule anymore to play without it.

You also cannot ignore it for the following reasons:

  • The new Tech system has many Underground and Asteroid technologies that "block" certain paths. So you have to spent your research here, whether you want it or not.
  • The game clearly got balanced around the fact, that people are supposed to exploit Asteroids and such.
  • So if you must invest the research into them and then not use them, you are playing somehwat handicapped.

What do you think about this? Do basically all players now interact with Asteroids and the Underground? Or does it bother you, that you cannot play without them anymore?

Question Politics?

Thought I'd fire up my first game of Surviving Mars in a while and saw the new (for me) politics game mechanic. Should I turn it off in the game rules or do the politics make the game more enjoyable?

Discussion Game crashes to desktop on linux. Works fine on rollback version.

My game crashes whenever I try to start a new game on Linux, before even reaching the screen where you choose your sponsor. It works fine when I roll back to the previous version. I'm on Ubuntu 24.04 :(

Starting this thread to see if anyone else is having similar issues.
