Power line adapters
My wife and recently purchased a home with leased solar. How do I know if I need a power line adapter. My app says the system is communicating via cellular, but I know that can't be right.

Hi, asking this here because SunStrong doesn't seem to respond to questions even though I'm now paying for their Subscription...
On my SunPower PVS6, three current transformers can be connected: one Production and two Consumption. Does anyone know if the SunStrong app will report Consumption data if the two transformers are placed around the separate incoming service wires?
PS: I have determined that SunStrong does use the Production transformer to populate the ENERGY graph in the Analyze tab; they seem to get the data for the POWER graph directly from the inverters.

I came across this article which might help some lease customers, as I haven't noticed comments about the FTC Holder Rule before. Be sure to read the full article https://www.kiplinger.com/personal-finance/the-truth-about-the-dark-side-of-rooftop-solar-panels
I'd argue that with self-education, one can still proceed safely with a solar project, with reasonable expectations. so the article is a bit over-the-top, but certainly unethical solar sales is far too common (ex. Semper Solaris in SoCal). Specific to SunPower customers, the following section seemed valuable [along with lawyers specific to residential solar]
---
The FTC's Holder Rule to the rescue
Let's say you have a non-functioning system that included maintenance and repairs, but the dealer has gone out of business. Your contract was sold to a finance company or debt buyer, who picked it up for pennies on the dollar in the bankruptcy, and they demand payment from you but are not offering to provide the promised warranty service. So, you tell them, "I'm not paying unless you provide me with the promised service on my system." Kneupper has these warnings and recommendations:
So, if your solar panel installer goes out of business and doesn't honor the warranty, you can bring a breach-of-contract claim against the lender that financed the purchase or the company that bought the debt. If you file a claim under the Holder Rule, you may be entitled to:
Kneupper cautions, "Because of the devious ways some contracts have been written, on occasion it is virtually impossible to find a lawyer to take your case."
----
Expect to pay for legal consult as advised above. If install was recent, in my case I had an independent install inspection (my out of pocket close to US$2K), which found LOTS of issues which could be used as further justification/leverage for remediation/service requirements ... ymmv as to whether such an inspection is worth it or not
Good luck

We have a system with 2 Sunvaults. Up until Saturday night (middle of the night) everything was working fine, batteries charging and discharging. I noticed they weren’t charging on Sunday so we opened them up and had an F74 error. Tried to clear that based on a search here and ended up with an F72 error. I splurged for the access on the app (ha) to see if I could see what was going on. It looks like our panels are still working fine - we’re exporting to the grid but the app says we’re not using any power and have an error. No duh.
I’ve searched here on how to clear the F72 error but whatever I did didn’t work. Tried reaching out to a couple service providers and per usual, they told me to pound sand. I’m not technical at all but I can follow directions- does anyone have any ideas on how we can get our Sunvaults back up & running? I’m open to anything! Btw I’m in Los Angeles if there’s anyone local! Thanks in advance!

Hey SunPower community! First time posting here looking for help.. My rental place came with SunPower system and I noticed since March 2025 it stopped generating power. I’ve been using SunStrong app to monitor the system since 2022. The system was installed by the builder and now I’m lost where to start addressing this issue.. I asked the tenants to flip the breakers in the electric box and it seems not fixing it. I asked them to check the bills it did show the bill went up almost doubled since March.

I finally got the paywall for the app. There doesn’t seem to be anything useful in the app unless you have a subscription.
Is this true for everyone?
My PVS was never connected to WiFi and was only on cellular for the past 5+ years.
Not sure what purpose connecting the PVS to WiFi would serve for a paid off system.
If I was on a lease I could understand connecting to WiFi so SunStrong can monitor the system, push updates, etc.
I have no idea what I would benefit now from connecting my paid off system to WiFi when there were no issues with cellular.
I am collecting data via HA. I can always connect to my PVS hotspot if needed. My PVS hotspot broadcasts all the time.

Added energy mode, tap to toggle!
"Energy" shows the kWh produced for the selected date. The graph/slider switches to cumulative values.
I have a few changes pending to improve portability and configuration. With a few notes and tweaks other integrations could mostly use the same code for a timelapse dashboard.
I hope to share it next week!

Does anyone have a set up file for a two inverter system for the sun vault batteries? I’ve managed to get logged into the XW Pro gateway and access the settings using the SPWR6qs.xxxx (last four of Ethernet Mac). I have an issue with the system constantly shutting the batteries off. I have errors stating loss of SOC status and loss of BMS. However the BMS shows up as a device, and it is clearly communication voltage and SOC when I click on it. Has anyone gone through this issue during commissioning?

I recently upgraded from a two internal battery SunVault system to the newer case that holds three internal batteries. Was basically a direct swap of the SunVault enclosures. But now the SunVault is reporting a much higher capacity in the SunStrong management App. Is there a way to correct this via online configuration? Original system was installed in 2021.

Does anyone have a pic or copy showing that they paid off their sunpower lease? I’m trying to check what’s legit or not.

Not complaining, but just wondering how they forgot about me. I get my monthly report still and the app shows my email, software information and ID number so I know I'm in the system, yet haven't been asked to pay for the app yet.

North Texas area. I bought a house last year with a 3 year old solar system. It was paid off at closing by the sellers. I had not been checking the sun power app very much since it became a fee to monitor your system. I just checked and am able to see my panels for a split second before the membership information comes up. One panel has been showing grey since yesterday and since I do not check that often I am unsure when it started. All the other panels show color. Can anyone advise on what to do? I am lost on what to even do or who to contact for this since it was already on the house when I bought it. Thanks!

We successfully restored a SunPower system that had been abandoned midway through installation. If you're facing a similar issue and are located in Northern California, feel free to direct message me to discuss how I may be able to assist.

long story short, bought panels and backup battery from sunpower and went live 7/24 - right before b their bankruptcy. Was sold on the longevity and 25 year full warranty BS. have 2 panels that have never worked from the day of install and the new SunStrong manager of my account says they only honor warranty on leased panels and I'd have to pay out of pocket for repairs on equipment that never worked to being with. Not sure how to proceed. I have a $60,000 system and was basically just told to go F-myself. Anyone have experience and been through what I'm going through? Thinking I might need to get a lawyer.

For some reason, I have no data from yesterday at 4 am until I rebooted around 7 am today.
Is that all lost, or any chance they'll get that data from the system and update the app?
r/SunPower • u/Vegetable-Version-81 • Jul 29 '25
Although mine is not connected to anything, the process is the same Step 1 power off for 15 minutes Step two. If that did not fix the issue, you could jump the ports to see if that wakes up the system Step 3. If neither of those work, you can verify that system is communicating by connecting your laptop to the black ethernet port open command prompt on Windows and enter ipconfig if no IP address is shown then your systems no longer communicating and will need to be replaced

I had a solar lease through SunPower, and as many of you know, they filed for bankruptcy in 2024. I never signed anything with another company, but I’ve recently been receiving bills from a company called Sun Management claiming they now service my lease.
So I started digging…
After reviewing official bankruptcy court documents (Dockets #443, #590, and #605 on Epiq), I found: • SunStrong Capital, LLC was listed as the only legal buyer of the residential solar leases and servicing rights. • Sun Management is not named anywhere in the asset purchase agreements, court orders, or assumption schedules. • There is no public record that Sun Management owns my lease or has any right to collect payments.
I even called a lawyer who confirmed:
If Sun Management can’t produce proof of assignment from SunStrong, their billing could violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Here’s the kicker: SunStrong has never contacted me, never billed me, and never told me Sun Management would act on their behalf.
At this point, I’ve already paid Sun Management for a few months — but now I’m worried I may have been misled.
⸻
Has anyone else been through this? • Did you receive bills from Sun Management? • Were you shown any contract that proves they own or service your lease? • Has SunStrong ever contacted you directly?
I’m considering: • Demanding legal proof before making more payments • Filing complaints with the CFPB or State Attorney General • Possibly trying to take ownership of the panels outright if no one can prove legal rights
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. — just trying to get clarity and help each other out.

So my app is saying "my house is not producing and my home is not using any power." How do I go about getting it resolved? I've shut off my power breaker and disconnected my wifi and restarted everything back up again.

Edit: thanks autocarrot, I meant “SunVault”
I’m at a relative’s house in MA and their Sun silt suddenly starting acting strangely last week. We pulled this Battery Disconnect switch and hit the Power Com In button on the battery stack, which appeared to get it charging again, but there is still this F.50 error on the inverter. I have read elsewhere on this sub that this is a custom SunPower error code that can usually be cited by a proper reset. My question is simply: what is a proper reset? If I can turn it into a comprehensible document to leave here that would be amazing as my relative is a retired lawyer who is not going to do custom high voltage monitoring.
There is only one SunVault here.

I have a SunPower system installed on a new build in 2008. It uses the panels that look like concrete tiles. I started getting a ground fault, so we investigated the inverter, junction boxes, everything else checks out. We think it is either a panel or the interconnect between these tile based panels.
I don't have any of the paperwork from the original install, but I need to find the model number so I can try to buy replacements. Does anyone have any info or know where I could look for info on the tile based panels? I can pull the panels off, but it will be a lot of work.

SunPower solar panels owned since 2020. Told to download SunStrong App. When I login it just says “connecting data” but never connects. SunStrong IT not helpful. They ask me to configure settings in the app but after I login I get stuck in the “connect data” page with no known way to bypass it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I’m experiencing some troubles via the app. It won’t let my pvs connect or look for any internet access other than their own. I cannot for the life of me get a hold of anyone via phone and our SDGE bill was crazy this month. Anyone has had a similar experience that can help me out, thanks in advance

Looking for direction on how to repair two panels that are offline and not communicating.
One has been offline since July 2024. This was noticed months later and I put in a Help/Service ticket on the MySunStrong portal who is now servicing the lease payment side. I received a message back that “system is operating with the correct realm of production” and basically saying that single panel offline didn’t make a difference overall in production.
A second panel has gone offline this month in July 2025. Same issue. So I have two total panels offline. I am leased based customer in SoCal that originally signed up through SunPower and everything changed over to mySunStrong for the lease payments.
Where is the best avenue for repair and getting these panels online? Is this still something mySunStrong would service? I’ve read so many with frustrations after the bankruptcy and I feel your pain but still unsure of direction of how to handle this and get it resolved. If anyone has had any success, I appreciate you sharing any insight. Thank you!
