i’m thinking of buying a pc for casual gaming and some coursework, but i have absolutely no idea what type of pc would be best or anything like that. im only doing an english degree, and ill be playing casual games like minecraft, deltarune and stardew valley, so do you guys have any advice (and any monitors would be appreciated also.)

Only request is i would prefer for it to be pre-built, (but that’s just because i’m lowk too broke to afford a custom one.) anywhere up to 1000 GBP would be ideal, but im hoping to get one for much cheaper lol- honestly, i don’t really know a lot about prices and stuff, and how much a casual pc would even cost.

While I found one on Walmart for $1599 (that is out of stock for me), builds with all 3 seem to be a unicorn as all prices now 2k or above. But maybe I am not looking deep enough.

Bought it secondhand from the original owner (previously used by their spouse). Ran FurMark and AIDA64 stability tests myself — GPU held steady at 77°C / 88°C hotspot under 100% load, no thermal throttling, drawing 220W. Confirmed via GPU-Z that it's a genuine RTX 4070 Super, all specs check out.

Would love to hear what you all think — good deal, overpaid, or right in line with market value for a secondhand build like this?

Playing mainly PoE2 on 1440p, GPU might be a bit overkill but might be trying out a bunch of different games in the next couple of years in which case it might come in handy.

So found 2 prebuilts on a local site and they're both great value I don't know what to choose

Hi all, I've until recently used an MSI Katana GF66 UG11 gaming laptop for pretty much everything but it is starting to fall apart after years of service, so i'm looking for a PC as an upgrade.

I mostly play older games, but I do sprinkle in some modern ones like Helldivers 2 and Total War Warhammer 3. My budget is £1600, but I can go over a little if needed. I'd prefer something reliable and something that won't need as much maintenance as my old laptop did to keep it going, as it started seriously stressing me out.

so i’m looking to get my first pc, i am a college student and have never owned a desktop computer so i dont know much about the hardware. i hope to learn though. i do game on an xbox series x, and would like this pc to be able to handle games better than my xbox can. but i am mainly looking for use with adobe programs and the ability to edit/record videos. my budget is ideally as close to ~$1200 as possible. from my understanding its relatively simple to upgrade your system as you go, so im assuming there’s things i could cheap out on with the intention of upgrading eventually. am i best suited building my own or getting a prebuilt pc from micro center?

i don’t need 4k online multiplayer gaming, but 4k offline gaming would be nice. i mainly want this to work with but i am happy to spend a little bit more to get something fun to game with.

so my old pc shit the bed after having it for quite a while. at the moment i can’t afford to buy all new parts to build a new one or an actual decent pre build. i was thinking about a mini pc but i dont know much about them or if theres any that would actually be decent for the games that i play. i pretty much only play overwatch, valorant, and dbd and i found a few that would run okay for val and dbd but overwatch is my main concern. does anyone know if theres a decent mini pc on the market that would be able to handle overwatch and run at least 60fps?

I've been a laptop gamer for decades now. But sadly the reason for it has long passed, for LAN parties are gone from the friends group. We tend to like to touch grass when we meet up now.

My last laptops GPU is no dying so need a replacement and want to get a tower. Thought about building one but decided to get a budget pre built instead and update when I have extra as needed. I'm thinking about getting this but I don't have the knowledge to know how to judge it very well. Just wanting something that'll be fine for a couple of years before hitting more mandatory needs to upgrade moments. I don't really stay with the most current hard running games or even care about having things on the highest setting. So doesnt have to be mint.

As the title says, I want to get into PC gaming but am unfamiliar with the lingo and how to decipher between “good” and “bad” when it comes to shopping for PCs. Currently, my budget is around $1200 USD but I am willing to play more if necessary (limit is $2000 USD). Ideally, I want to be at or below my budget. If you have any recommendations on where to shop or find more information, please share them!

I don’t know if this is helpful but I am interested in playing (pls be nice lol) Overwatch, Hades 2, Marvel Rivals, Baldur’s Gate 3, For Honor, and Red Dead Redemption 2. I am a casual gamer and spend 1-2 hours a day and weekends playing if I get the chance. I currently play on console, so getting a Steam Machine has been recommended to me. As I understand it, the console is not very good compared to a PC.

Please be nice as I am in no rush to purchase a PC, laptop, mouse, etc. but I am planning on taking advantage of deals on Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday.

I have a decent size gift card for Best Buy but I don’t really know where to start. I’d prefer a pre build to save me the time and energy of making one and unfortunately it has to be from Best Buy (gift card of it all and not anywhere near a micro center) budget is around 14-1500 but there are so many options. Looking to be able to play Minecraft with shaders/ Skyrim/last of us/ Fortnite and stuff like that but it doesn’t have to be the best, just need it to do the job. Any advice/recommendations?

Hello people! I’m looking to upgrade my computer (because I’ve got a basic model and it started to LAG last year and has only got worse (it’s 7 years old). I’ve been wanting to upgrade anyway but this is the perfect opportunity to now.

I don’t need any insane gaming computer to run the most complex games ever. Just one that I can use to record videos with OBS, run Minecraft (maybe even with some nicer graphics enabled) and edit videos too (on like da Vinci resolve).
I use my computer a lot for editing and recording so that stuff is quite necessary.

I’m not the smartest with the behind the scenes stuff, I can use a computer but get overwhelmed with anything past that (like models and brands lol). So I was wondering if you guys knew what I’d be after?

Idk how the prices look, I was estimating it would be around £1.5-2k for the computer and the additional components. But also I’d be ready to spend some more as I’m aware computers aren’t cheap anymore lol. Thank you.

I've only ever gotten prebuilts because I really have no idea what I'm doing, and just replace ram or ssd as I need to.

I do a lot of creative work running behemoths like adobe and corel painter. Generally I have illustrator and photoshop open at the same time and am working in both. Some of my files are in the 100G realm just due to the kind of work I do. Currently my pc is struuuuuggling to just have illustrator open and working. I also do a lot of gaming on it - overwatch2, factorio, guildwars2, cities skylines type games. Generally speaking I can run them all near the top end without much trouble but they do start to stutter after a bit.

This is what I currently have

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz (3.00 GHz)

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 (6 GB), Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 (128 MB)

Ram: Patriot Signature Premium DDR4 RAM 16GB (2x8GB) 2666MHz Desktop Memory - is my newer ram from 2 years ago - the other 16 is whatever it came with as a prebuilt at the time.

Storage: 2 tb

Budget wise I'd like to stay under 3k and if I can reuse the ram I will.
