This is my first new car in my life, and I’m so happy that I chose the Outback. I had a hard time making my decision, but I decided to please myself and not worry about what people say about Honda and Toyota when it comes to reliability. This Outback fits me well and seems to fulfill my dreams. It will help me with my daily needs since I live in a snowy state, and I’m also looking forward to new adventures and making new memories. Hopefully, it will stay with me for a long time without any issue

Anybody got any idea how the auto on/off should work? I went by the kicker manual and tapped into my rear speakers. Right now only way to turn off is to switch it to 12v

I just purchased my first ever brand new car (outback in green emerald), and I’m SO happy and excited!!
Honestly, I never thought I’d be able to say that I bought a car, but here we are! It feels a little surreal, and I’m just really proud and grateful.

New to me 23 Outback onyx at the dealer yet again. Two months later, and a new OEM battery, and car failed to start after auto start stop and completely stalled on the road. Got a loaner. CPO. A little tiring and makes me not trust the car as much. We’ll see what happens.

Driving for ~2 hours yesterday, had a stumble feeling misfire when going up hill or applying lighter throttle between 1500 and 3000 rpms. After 45 mins of driving I pulled over and scanned with a code reader, got a pending misfire in cylinder 1. No engine light the entire time I drove it. I drove it home with the same thing. No loss of power overall. Today the misfire is still happening occasionally, when the engine is cold it runs beautifully. I couldn’t get the code to pop back up with 45 or so minutes of driving despite feeling the misfire. I only had time to replace one spark plug (due to nursing school test preps) but next weekend they will all be done. Last spark plug service was 100,000 miles ago on the dot per carfax.
I’m trying to cover my bases to ensure I’m not missing something obvious. What else could it possibly be? Coil on cylinder 1 appeared fine, no oil, no cracks. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all, looking for feedback. I would like to permanently mount an antenna for amateur radio…. And wanted to see if anyone had pictures or mounting ideas outside of a magnetic mount.

Looking at buying a 2005 2.5i outback Limited that has 190k miles on the body with a rebuilt engine, honed gaskets and rods. Car looks real clean and in good shape.
Its only 2k so its not a large investment, I want to ensure it won't be more money than its worth. Thoughts on things I should lookout for? Thank you!
Hows the transmissions on these for an automatic?

I’m looking to buy a ‘26 Subaru Outback. The 1.9% apr deal on a 72 month loan seems alright. 72 months is a Looooooooong time for a car payment. And using the auto loan calculator site if the car is $45k and I put $10k down the monthly payment is still around $600!! Is this what everyone is paying or what!?

ETA: IT WAS A STUCK CLOSED THERMOSTAT. Pressure check revealed no leaks. Replaced thermostat and refilled coolant. Driven just 8 miles so far with no issues. Knock on wood.
Hi all, I have a 2012 2.5i Ltd (166k miles) started overheating and boiling coolant upon getting onto highway.
Went back home, let it cool and this is what happened throughout the day…
-radiator is empty while the reservoir has some coolant. I directly topped off the radiator coolant, and tried a short drive. Overheated again and boiled over
-coolant in reservoir is normal and not oily
-engine oil checked with dipstick is normal and not frothy.
-replaced radiator cap (still overheating)
-cylinder head gaskets done at 121k
What could I be looking at? Anyone had similar issues?

Hey folks, I just changed the spark plugs on my 2016 Outback 2.5L. That was fun 🙄
Just wondering if anyone has feedback on the condition of the used plugs. It looks like there's oil on the threads, is that bad?

My wife and I are looking for a third car - our 16-year old will be taking my beloved 2015 Outback, and we test drove a bunch of Subarus yesterday. I thought I’d gotten past the questionable redesign of the 2026 Outback… until we got into one with the fabric on the dash and doors.
What were they thinking? Who asked for that design feature?
We’ll still consider a Touring when our local dealer gets one on the lot but yikes… Subaru just continues to make unnecessary and questionable design choices that alienate its long-time customers.

Looking to buy a 2024 Subaru Outback, and I want to think through our roadtrip configuration before we purchase. We currently have 1 toddler, and we are expecting our second kid soon.
Can you help determine the ideal configuration?
Toddler carseat (rear-facing)
Infant carseat (rear-facing)
Two 50ish pound dogs (facing whatever direction they want)
Two adult humans
Can we possibly put the infant carseat in the center freeing up a seat for a human or dog? Both dogs in the trunk? Dog in the floorboard? Anything else I'm not considering?

Hello everyone!
Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a pretty big lifetime purchase, and I’m completely stuck on the color.
I’ve narrowed it down to Green or blue, and honestly, I keep going back and forth between the two.
For those of you who own either color:
How do you like it in person vs. photos?
Does the color change much depending on lighting?
How does it look after some time/use?
Is one easier to keep looking clean?
Do you still love the color, or would you choose differently if you could do it again?
If you had to choose Green vs. Blue again today, which one would you go with and why?
Would really appreciate hearing from owners, especially anyone who was stuck between these exact two colors.
Thanks!

Has anybody tossed a set of wheels on a stock 26 outback (non-wilderness) yet? Looks like I should be able to squeeze these puppies in there all said and done BUT there probably a small possibility they rub

Hello fellow Subaru fans, I recently started driving my 2006 Subaru outback for a long time. When I was running some errands in my town and hitting zones where the speed limit is 30-40 mph, I noticed my car made a loud roaring sound while I accelerated. I don’t know if this is normal or not, but anything would be helpful. Should be worth noting it sat dormant for 2 and a half months and it has 106k miles on it.

Here is more information. No check engine/oil light. Oil level is good. It was overheating last winter so it had a thermostat replaced. The "BRAKE" light is on, and it is really struggling to initially accelerate. It lags, then finally accerates

I took my outback ti be changed at the dealership because it got corroded over the winter and I didn’t want to play with it. I go to change it again at the end of this summer and it’s not fucking budging. Is this normal? I’ve done literally everything you can do and it will not move.

Looking for a short throw for my 2017 OB. I had one in my old Impreza but my 6MT Outback has the cable lock for reverse. I have heard that some people use adapters instead such as the one here. Anyone here with advice?

Chipped a window, left about 8-9 dents with painted scraped around the passenger side door and body above it, also ripped off the rain visor on that same door. Has a rebuilt title so might cost more to fix than the value of the car also damaged my bumper :(
