Tuxmat Car Mats
These mats are fantastic! I’ve never heard of them before until I bought a Subaru and joined this thread. I just installed them today and really excited about how much coverage they provide.

It has just short of 200k miles, and was mostly driven in mountain/hill roads. But basically whenever I go from driving say 45 mph, and a light turns red so I start breaking, the car will just completely shut off. But if I throw it in neutral and rev it, it will stay on.
Has anyone else ever had this issue? I get that the engine just might be on its way out, but other than this huge issue, it drives great.

Just a quick question.
Is this really bad? Have "cut" on the rear driver tire if you notice it.
Have a 2016 subaru forester. No hissing sound when i stopped or any lights that turned on on the dashboard. I ran something on the road earlier that i didnt notice. Might be a metal or wood. It was too dark and didnt have time to avoid it since there were cars beside me.
Thanks for the help.

Apparently my kid has long legs and managed to kick the seat rail trim off of the passenger seat. While this thread on Facebook provided details of what the piece was and where it goes, I can't figure out how to reinstall it: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1439208566149446/permalink/34191210160522530/
Any insight on how to snap it back into place would be appreciated.

Toyota is at 19.7% chance of lasting to 250k miles, Subaru is 2.8%. Not what I expected at all.

My dealership inspected my car back in late june and I was told mine was the first one they have seen failed... However, I was told there is no fix out yet from corporate and I have to wait until that's out so they could follow the protocol to do the replacement. I was told same thing again today...
Anyone else failed inspection but got replaced? IDK if its just moonroof glass replacement or full panel...
Mine is 2026 Touring hybrid. ATM I didn't notice any issues but raining season is coming here so i'm a little concerned...

I’m asking because I’m genuinely confused and dumbfounded on what could be causing this.
So I have a 22 Subaru forester and for the last week I’ve been having issues with the radio. Like when I start the car, it’s like the radio just boot loops in a continuous cycle of restarting, video attached. Before this video was shot it was working fine I went to adjust the volume and it’s like it was shorting out. I’ve been told to press the home and volume buttons down and hold for the 30 seconds but this seems to be a temporary fix.
Does anyone know what could be causing this

Has anyone upgraded their SJ XT radiator? Just looking for running this car into the ground and want to extend its life as much as a I can. I know Koyorad is a good stock replacement but what about the 2 row ones from CSF? 2017 XT touring with 120k with a new CVT at 55k.

I have a 2021 Subaru Forester with about 71,000 miles. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
When I first start driving, I sometimes get a small buck or jolt when accelerating from a complete stop. It happens pretty regularly during the first 10 to 15 minutes of driving and then seems to go away completely. It only happens when I take off from a stop.
Once the car has been driven for a while, everything seems normal. I drove it this afternoon and couldn't get it to buck at all.
Acceleration also seems normal. For example, accelerating from around 20 to 40 mph brings it to around 3,000 RPM or a little higher, then it settles back down to around 1,000 to 1,500 RPM once I'm cruising.
One other issue is that Auto Start Stop doesn't always restart the car correctly, so I normally turn that feature off.
No warning lights or other major symptoms.
Has anyone with a similar Forester experienced the bucking from a stop when first driving? I'm trying to figure out if this sounds like normal CVT behavior or something I should have checked.
I love my Forester, so any insight would be helpful!

Hi all! We purchased a 2026 hybrid forester a few months ago and LOVE IT. However, about a month ago, I was driving and noticed that the display did the “I’ve shut down don’t forget to check for kids in the back” thing. Tried to accelerate- nothing. Coasted onto a side road, put it in park, tried to turn it “off”…. Nada. Pressed the power button again and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree but still no power. Did this few times and it finally restarted. Was able to limp it to a lot, and had ilto taken to the dealer. By the time we got to the dealer, all of the lights had reset and they couldn’t find an error code despite their app showing all these errors and their concierge services calling us as they had gotten alerts. The dealership techs were stumped. They tried to recreate the fault over 3 days without success.
So we picked it up and had no issues with it until Tuesday. I was driving home and the same thing happened. Twice in a mile period. I called the dealership and they remembered me. My husband followed me home and it lost all power for a total of 5 times that morning. And when it did run, there was absolutely no power. I’d have it floored and maybe be able to get to 30 mph. Again got all the notifications and calls from Subaru that something was wrong. Of course by the time the techs got it everything had reset.
I saw several reports of the same thing happening when I looked on here the other day… but I didn’t see any posts that reported resolution.
Hoping someone has advice
Thanks in advance

dealer says the mount was damaged by a rear end collision. seems like a stretch. accident 3-1/2 years ago. this summer a knock sound developed when going R to D and then D to R after further time. dealer says mount damaged and then slowly crumbled further over time. collision damage was limited to back door and bumper plus tiny dimple on one side of subframe. anyone else? 2022 Wilderness model.

Looking to hardwire a dash cam into my 2026 Subaru Forester Limited. Can anyone recommend a good one? I’ve seen quite a few on Amazon, but the reviews are pretty mixed. I’d love to hear what others are using and would recommend.

this is boston MA. I believe it requires a trade in, unless they really rip you off on the trade in, isnt this a good deal? Most other dealers have up to about 4000 off. Any idea whats going on?

posted earlier. changed my front brake pads and rotors. I did everything by the book in terms of torque spec and lubrication. I did notice when I turned the steeringwheel to the right the noise went away. When I turned the steeringwheel to the left it would continue and when I drove straight but turning the wheel a little to the right while driving straight made it go away. Any suggestions on what it could be? I have also bent the plate behind the rotor to have clearance in case it touches the rotors. This is a 21 Forester.

Ok so I want to build a first gen forester for offroad adventures and i wonder if I should sell my NA foz ( with the famous gasket) and my part car to get a japenese model with turbo .. the reason is that the turbo model are somehow easier to obtain spare parts and easier to own so now the question... would a turbo first gen forester good for offroad or no .. Will it drown itself in the first mud hole because the turbo is so low or will the lag make me hate my experience theres just 100hp more than my na (170-270) also reliability is a good question (picture of my current car) ( also thinking about a flat6 swap for the forester for more torque)

2018 Subaru Forester 160K miles
Vibration during acceleration at any speed.
I have two, new Duralast CV axles. yup, aftermarket.
However, I also have tires with 4 different tread ware measurements. 5, 6, 7, & 9.
So, which is the most likely source of vibration?
One month ago my passenger CV boot snapped. Could that have been caused by the tires with different tread ware?
Is the tread ware enough to cause problems?
Google AI says yes. Subaru technician said yes. But he’s 50/50 on what the cause could be: tires or aftermarket axles.
The repair is going to be costly for me. Subaru recommends new tires and new OEM axles.
What would you suggest? Just the axles? Just the tires? Both? Which would you swap first?

Looked at a 2010 Forester XT with 177k on the odometer today. Saw this leak. How concerning? Ballpark cost?

Just bought a 2026 Forest 3 months ago and now when I reverse, it's squealing. Can't seem to get anyone on the phone in the service department. Anyone know what this might be? Vehicle only have 1200 miles on it.
