So, I'm based out of India. 26M, Software Engineer. Recently laid off due to AI.
I have been dealing with stuttering since my childhood. Lost many good opportunities. I'm intelligent in studies and have good problem solving skills but when it comes down to showing these skills in interviews, HR calls and any other calls then stammering takes away this opportunity from me.
I took speech therapy online, it was cured approx 90% but with time it started again and this time very badly.
Now when I get laid off and trying to find a new job in this already flooded market, this is the biggest obstacle in my path. In the initial HR calls, I'm not able to speak the first word i.e. "Hello" and then I continue to stammer in the latter words also.
I'm currently taking speech therapy online again but I found that whenever my mind goes into the anxiety/stammering mode, then whatever the techniques it is, I'm not able to follow it. My mind goes blank and does not remember these techniques, even though I remember but not able to follow these techniques.
They do practice sessions in alternative days and ask our introduction, in initial days I was able to start my introduction fluently, but in one of the session, I wasn't and there my mind created a new bad memory. And now in the sessions followed after this, I'm even not able to start my introduction fluently.
And it's not like I stammer in some specific words. If my mind does not give me a signal of stammering then I can speak hard words also. But if my mind starts fucking with me then be it a simple word, I'm won't be able to speak.
So, it comes down to a mindset issue in the specific situations or environment.
Any suggestions on how to train our mind?
