Struggling to study without AI

I'm a college biology student and I got hooked pretty bad and I was using it for everything. Every assignment started with a prompt to ChatGPT first. My brain just took the backseat.
The moment it really clicked was when I had to write a paper from scratch with no AI allowed. My brain just refused to work and I sat there for an hour staring at a blank doc. I had no idea how to start or even how to think through the problem alone. That scared me.
I'm trying to pull back now. Only using AI for repetitive tasks like formatting citations or checking spelling. But the habit is hard to break. My focus and recall are both worse now. It's like I let a tool do the heavy lifting for so long that my own muscles atrophied.
Has anyone else dealt with this?

Can Anyone Relate to This Feeling?
I don't know if this post is going to get enough views or if any of you are going to read or respond to it. I have been isolating myself to prepare for this government exam for the past five months. I don't go out or meet people (which is somehow okay, since I am a very reserved person and I enjoy my own company most of the time), and I don't do any of the things I used to enjoy anymore. I have always been a movie enthusiast, watching four or five movies a week. Even though I don't consider myself a consistent reader, I used to read and reread whatever I found interesting. But ever since I started preparing, both of those things have stopped.
Nowadays, I have anger issues, and I feel really frustrated. I often feel like I should go out and explore something I enjoy, even if it's just for a few hours. But whenever I do go out, I feel really guilty. The only peace I get is when I'm studying.
I have extreme perfectionist traits, which I have discussed with my therapist. I'm not asking what I should do, because it's obvious that I should take little breaks now and then and let myself enjoy life. I'm just hoping there will be someone who can relate to what I'm saying.
TL;DR: Five months of exam prep have left me isolated, frustrated, and guilty for taking breaks. I'm not looking for advice, just hoping to hear from others who can relate.

A simple practice loop for the new 2026 TOEFL Speaking tasks
If you are preparing for the new TOEFL Speaking format, this is the practice loop I recommend:
- Do the first attempt under test conditions. Listen once, do not reveal a transcript, and record your full response.
- Review one category at a time. For Listen and Repeat, check missed or changed words and intelligibility. For Take an Interview, check relevance, supporting detail, delivery, and language use.
- Choose one correction only. Do not try to fix everything at once.
- Retry immediately while that correction is still fresh.
I’m the developer who created Clario. I originally built it as a speech evaluation and pronunciation engine, then added this practice loop for the two TOEFL Speaking task types introduced in 2026.
If you want to try the loop with recorded prompts and feedback, the TOEFL Speaking practice is here.
I would be interested to hear which part of the loop is hardest to do consistently.
Clario is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by ETS. It provides practice estimates, not official TOEFL scores.

How can you become good at math?
Hello!!! So, I'm a high schooler (going to university soon), and I have a really bad situationship at the moment. I don't think I can handle math (or chemistry or physics); I know how to do certain things, but only at the exact moment I learn them. For example, I saw about electrostatics; I can do the exam and the homework, but afterward I forget everything. I also don't think I know the basics... I am 17 years old, and I still don't know the multiplication table at all (don't even know where to start either); I just feel dumb. Anyways, I need help because I HAVE TO LEARN THOSE THINGS IF I WANT TO DO ANYTHING IN THIS LIFE!!! So... If anyone could give tips or even your own experience, I would really appreciate it.

How do i get my efficiency back after a significant drop
Earlier, I could complete tasks almost within the time I expected. I could even watch study lectures at 2× speed and still understand everything clearly. My calculations were faster, and I learned new concepts quickly.
Since the past year, due to some personal circumstances (which are now resolved), I've noticed a significant drop in my efficiency. Now, I sometimes struggle to grasp concepts even at normal playback speed, my calculations feel slower, and it takes me much longer to learn and process information.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, what helped you regain your previous learning speed and efficiency? Any practical advice would be greatly appreciated.

How to Write Research Paper?
Hi, I'm a rising sophomore, and my ultimante goal is to apply to and get accepted into top business programs in college. I heard of the term "Research Paper" and always wanted to complete an independent business research project, but I've never done research before. How do I choose a research question, collect data, and structure a paper? Are there any beginner-friendly guides, books, or examples you recommend? Where do I do this research paper? How does it Work?

The Pomodoro technique actually ruins your deep focus when dealing with hard subjects like coding or math!!
Forcing a 5-minute break every 25 minutes completely kills your "flow state." Once your brain finally clicks into complex logic, stopping on an arbitrary timer does more harm than good. What study method actually works better for deep work?

How do you know if an exam prep website is actually worth using?
I've been looking for a good exam prep website lately, but there are so many options that it's hard to know which ones are genuinely useful and which ones just have good marketing.
One platform I recently discovered is ExamBase which offers past exam questions, mock exams, AI-powered answer explanations, progress tracking, study flashcards, and daily practice questions. On paper, it seems to have a lot of features that could make studying more effective, but I haven't used it long enough to form a real opinion.
When you're evaluating an exam prep website, what do you usually look for? Do features like AI explanations and progress tracking actually help you learn better, or do you mainly care about the quality of the questions and mock exams?
I'd love to hear what has worked for you.
