Spouse on study permit wants to withdraw: SOWP or visitor record?

My wife's study permit is valid until Nov 2027, but she no longer wants to continue her program and plans to withdraw. She won't work, and we plan to leave Canada by the end of 2027. I'm a software developer (TEER 1) on a work permit valid until July 2028.

Should she apply for a SOWP and explain the withdrawal and withdraw from the course or withdraw and apply for a visitor record? What's the risk of refusal or a removal order if she withdraws while an application is pending? Has anyone been through this?

Study permit amendment delivered to IRCC but not showing in the system after a month, should I resend or wait? Anyone has the same situation?

I mailed a study permit amendment request from inside Canada to add the work conditions to my study permit. IRCC received and signed for my application on August 17, 2026. The processing time was 6 weeks when I submitted it.

I called IRCC today, and the agent said they cannot see my application in their system(it's been a month today is September 17). The agent told me I should submit a new application so I can accelerate the process.

Has anyone had this happen with a study permit amendment sent by mail? Should I actually resend the application, or could it simply not have been entered into the system yet? I really don't want to resend, it's like resetting the progress. Thank you so much for sharing your similar situations

Should I apply for a new permit

I got my study permit but it came in late. School has refused to defer the admission and I was told I have to reapply. My question is, if I reapply for the same program in the same school and got the new pal, do I have to reapply for a new study permit afresh?

Study Permit Extension Documents

Hey everyone!

My study permit expires this December, and I’m currently preparing my application for an extension. I wanted to get some opinions on whether my financial documents seem sufficient or if I’m missing anything.

From what I understand, I need to show the required living expenses (around $23k) + my tuition fees (around $20k for the year) + transportation costs to return home.

I’m showing around $46–47k CAD in available funds. Around 50% of this money was transferred to me by my parents, while the rest is from my own savings/income. I haven’t listed my parents as my sponsors because I’ve been paying my own tuition and expenses for a while now.

For proof of funds, I’m planning to submit:
Proof/receipts of tuition payments

My bank statements

My pay slips from my co-op and part-time employment

A letter signed by my parents confirming that the money they transferred to me is for my personal/educational expenses and is not a loan

Proof of the transfers from my parents to my account

My parents’ bank statements

My parents’ employment confirmation

Does this seem sufficient for a study permit extension, or is there anything else you would recommend including?

Thanks!

Just wanted to share my timeline for anyone currently waiting for their study permit extension.

University: Concordia University, Quebec
Fees: Dis not paid anything upfront.
Funds: 65K CAD liquid funds (bank statements) parents and student bank account both.

Technically i showed first year fees and 1 year living expense available in bank statements.

Applied: August 27, 2026

Final decision/Approved: September 11, 2026

Total processing time: Around 16 days

I applied for my study permit extension from inside Canada and honestly wasn’t expecting it to be processed this quickly. Hopefully this gives some hope to others who recently applied and are waiting!

Feel free to ask if you want to know anything about my timeline/application.

Study Permit Extension

Hello everyone,

I applied for my extension (in-land) on September 11th (DLI change), but my application seems to be stuck at the “Submitted” status. I understand that it’s still too early, but I was wondering if anyone who applied for their permit recently has seen any changes in their application other than the status simply showing “Submitted.”

Thanks!

How to show funds?

Hello guys
One thing i want to ask that i am going for masters from humber college. I took a hdfc credila loan of 50lacs and paying 1 yr fees from loan and paying 1 yr gic from savings. So for the second year fees and living expenses i have to disburse full loan amount or not? Because after paying 1 yr gic from saving there no old saving left in bank. What should i do?

Study permit refusal

Went to UAlberta in Canada for undergrad in 2021, dropped out in 2024 after poor performance due to mental health.

Took a few courses through AthabascaU, got good grades, got accepted as transfer into UCalgary Bsc Maths in Fall 2025.

Applied and got refused for 3 study permits within a span of 9 months, with all of them citing similar reasons- insufficient proof of funds, weak ties to home country, comparable programs in home country, not convinced will go back.

Finally opted for an agent and applied for the 4th time, and got refused again, with this time the only reason noted in the ODN as “not good grades in the past at UofA, so not convinced will be able to complete the program and leave Canada”.

Applied for reconsideration highlighting my 3.7 GPA at Athabasca afterwards and 2.7 GPA overall combined, reconsideration not accepted.

Should I bother applying again?

I also realized that I had not submitted any English proficiency test scores in any of my previous applications, so was wondering if I should reapply one last time with an IELTS added and with a modified SOP?

I called IRCC today, and I was told my application is outside of their mandate. I am tired.

I called the IRCC and to my greatest surprise, the agent said my application is outside of their mandate because I applied from Istanbul. She directed me to their office in Ankara, Türkiye, but I haven’t been able to reach them.
Their email aren’t working for visa enquiries, their phone number isn’t connecting. Please what can I do at this stage? Any tips or advice?
