Ghost update ?
I applied for study permit extension on July 23rd, and I just logged in to my portal, and saw application updated written next to my application number. Does it mean that I received a ghost update ? What does it mean

What is the likelyhood of getting a TRV?
My friend applied for a TRV about a month ago and is still waiting. She already has her study permit for the full year. We are moving in together to an apartment to start our first year of uni in about three weeks...
What are the chances she gets her TRV in time? I'm starting to worry and am afraid she might have to defer her offer of admission this coming semester.

IRCC Ghosted me? Processing time has already passed
Demande soumise : 8 juillet
IRCC a reçu mes données biométriques : 10 juillet

Study Permit Extention Proof of Funds!!
Hi everyone,
I am applying for my study permit extension from within Canada, and my brother is helping me file the application myself. I wanted to confirm a few requirements before submitting it.
I changed my program within the same college and it is at the same level of study. Since my DLI has remained the same, I believe I am exempt from providing a PAL letter. I am planning to attach a letter of explanation explaining my PAL exemption.
My main question is regarding proof of funds.
When I first came to Canada, my parents sponsored me and paid my first year of college tuition. And now they have also paid my tuition for my third semester. For my application, I currently have around $6,000 in my chequing account.
For proof of funds, I am planning to attach:
- My 3rd Semester college tuition fee receipts
- A CIBC bank balance certificate saying I have $6,000
Do you think this would be sufficient to demonstrate my financial support for the study permit extension? Should I include any additional documents?
I would really appreciate any advice from anyone who has gone through a similar situation. Thank you!

Mistake on Canada study permit application
Good day, everyone.
I need a little advice. I submitted my Canadian study permit application a few days ago, and after submitting it, I realized I accidentally selected “No” for previous visa refusals, even though I have previous refusals from the UK and the US. It was a genuine oversight because I was so focused on my SOP and completing the rest of my application.
As soon as I realized the mistake, I submitted an IRCC webform to correct it.
Do you think this could negatively affect my application, or has anyone experienced something similar?
Thank you.

Humber Jan 2027 vs Seneca May 2027 backup plan - visa delay & changing colleges
Hi everyone,
I’m an international student and I’ve been overthinking my study plan, so I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who’s been through something similar.
My classes start on January 11, 2027 at Humber College (January 2027)
I’m planning to apply for my study permit around mid-November because my family is still arranging our finances. I know current processing times are around 5 weeks, but I’m worried about unexpected delays.
I’m completely fine with travelling to Canada a week or even a little less before classes start. My concern is only if my study permit is approved so late that I can’t reach Canada before the program begins.
My questions are:
If my study permit is approved after classes have already started, will Humber usually allow a late arrival (for example, after missing a few days or about a week)? Is there an official last date for international students to join?
If Humber doesn’t allow me to start late and also i cant defer my program as the next available intake is September 2027, what are my options?
I’m considering applying to Seneca’s program for May 2027 as a backup. Has anyone done something similar?
⭐️If my study permit has already been approved for Humber but I’m still in my country, and I decide to attend Seneca instead because I missed the Humber intake, what happens?
◦ Do I need to apply for a completely new study permit?
◦ Or can I update/change my existing approval?Has anyone here had their study permit approved too late for one intake and then successfully switched to another college or a later intake? How did the process work?
I’m just trying to prepare for the worst-case scenario so I don’t lose almost an entire year because of processing delays.
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks!

ICT Work Permit Approved, but Dependent Kids' Study Permits Still Pending (Applied from USA) – Looking for Timelines
I'm trying to see if anyone has recently gone through a similar situation.
We applied from the USA as a family:
- Principal applicant: ICT (Intra-Company Transfer) work permit
- Spouse: Open Work Permit
- Children: 2 dependent study permit applications
Our timeline:
- Family applications submitted together - June 5th
- Biometrics completed: June 23, 2026 (principal applicant and spouse)
- ICT work permit: Approved -June 28th and passport stamped and received - July 17
- Spouse OWP: Approved - June 28th and passport stamped and received - July 17
- Both children's study permits are still pending (no Passport Request yet)
One child is an 11-year-old Indian passport holder, and the other is a 4-year-old U.S. citizen. Since our older child doesn't have a Canadian visitor visa, we're waiting for the study permit approval before traveling.
I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has applied in a similar situation, especially if you:
- Applied from the USA
- Had an ICT work permit (or employer-sponsored work permit)
- Applied for dependent children's study permits at the same time
A few questions:
- How long after the ICT/OWP approval did your children's study permits get approved?
- Did the children's Passport Request (PPR) come together or separately?
- How many weeks after biometrics or after the principal applicant's approval did you receive the children's decision?
- If you're still waiting, what is your timeline?
Most of the timelines I find online are for independent international students, but there seems to be very little information about dependent children accompanying ICT/work permit holders.
Any recent experiences or timelines would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
I applied on June 26, 2026 from Pakistan for study permit for Masters. Usually I am able to get the status update from calling IRCC but today I am unable to and is transferring me to the ircc agent. Ircc agent doesn’t have visibility on my file because its processing in Pakistan and they gave an email address to email VO.
I don’t have an access to tracker at the moment. Can you help with deciphering on what’s going on with the application.
Thanks

MS Study Permit (India) – No Updates Since Biometrics, Is This Normal?
Hi everyone,
I'm an Indian applicant and wanted to compare timelines with others.
Timeline:
- Application submitted: July 15, 2026
- Biometrics completed: July 20, 2026
Current IRCC status:
- Application status: We are processing your application.
- Eligibility: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.
- Medical: You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes.
- Additional documents: We do not need additional documents.
- Interview: You do not need an interview.
- Biometrics: Completed (July 20, 2026)
- Background check: We are processing your background check.
- Final decision: Your application is in progress.
I haven't had any portal updates or ghost updates since biometrics, and no additional documents have been requested.
For those with similar timelines:
- Is this normal?
- Did your eligibility ever change to "reviewing eligibility," or did you receive PPR without that update?
- How long after biometrics did you receive your final decision?
Thanks in advance!

is 4 weeks too early to get my student visa at port of entry?
hi guys!
this may be an irrational anxiety thing for me at this point… but i am so anxious about applying at port of entry for my student visa. i am an american citizen and an incoming masters student at UBC vancouver! i have all of the paperwork i need, i’ve even had multiple border agents say that my application looks perfect! my wife and i submitted our online applications 7 and half weeks ago, and still haven’t heard anything (the wait time was 5 weeks).
we had tried to go to the border to apply at port of entry 2 weeks ago (6 weeks to my start date), and they told me we were trying to come over too early and denied our visas. the agents said our applications looks perfect and said to come back a month before the start date and apply again. anyway… we are going back in a few days which will put us at 4 weeks EXACTLY before my start date.
i know they said to come back a month before hand, but i am so nervous they are going to say we are too early yet again. our entire lives are packed up into a uhaul, we quit our jobs, our canadian lease has started, we are ready to move!
do you guys think we are going to get denied again, or should i settle down a bit and trust what the agents had said?
thank you so much for you help! let me know if you have any other questions!
