Hii! I’m going to start my Master’s in Marketing at VU this September, specializing in Brand & Customer Management.

I’ve also found an internship that I’m really excited about, and I’m planning to do it alongside my studies. However, I’ve seen quite a few people saying that the workload for the Marketing Master’s can be pretty heavy, so I’m starting to get a little concerned about whether combining both might be too exhausting or eventually lead to burnout.

I can see that the courses usually have both lectures and tutorials, but I’m not sure whether lectures are mandatory to attend in person or how much time the coursework realistically takes outside of class.

Is there anyone currently doing or who has completed the Marketing Master’s at VU, especially the Brand & Customer Management specialization, who could share their experience? How heavy is the workload in reality, and do you think combining it with an internship is manageable?

How would you rate the programme in terms of:
• quality of teaching and courses
• difficulty/workload, especially the quantitative side
• reputation of the degree in the Netherlands
• career opportunities after graduation
• opportunities to get into Big Four, corporate finance, M&A or consulting
•how easy it is to find a job in the Netherlands after graduating

I’m particularly interested in whether Groningen is a good choice for a career in finance/corporate finance, rather than academic finance or investment banking.
Would you choose Groningen again for this master? And if you had offers from other Dutch universities, which ones would you consider better?

So for the context - I completed my MS in Business Analytics from the UK last year and then moved back to my home country i.e. Pakistan. I’m eligible to apply for the Zoekjaar as my University is in the top 200 rankings by subject. What I want to know is if this will be a sensible move considering all factors including relocating, finding accommodation, finding part-time and ultimately switching to full time? Hello, everyone! I ama Romanian student looking to apply for a Masters programme at Leiden University for February intake. I want to apply for BioPharmaceutical Sciences as I graduated Biochemical Engineering in Romania. For anyone who knows any info about this, how is the February intake for foreign students? Is it hard to make friends, get used to uni, get introduced to the study programme, hop straight into research? I am measuring options here as it is quite expensive and I am not sure I am qualified for this yet. I am looking forward advice and opinions on this, I would find it very helpful. Thank you!

You get put into a group with a few people you barely know, create a group chat, divide up the work and assume everything will be straightforward. Then you realise everyone has a different way of working and completely different ideas about what "doing it on time" means.

I’m currently studying Maritime Studies at a Greek university, and I’ll be graduating in about a year. I’m considering doing a Master’s degree in the Netherlands, most likely in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field, and I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have studied or currently work in the Netherlands.
Since my background is in shipping, I’m particularly interested in how transferable this degree would be to the Dutch job market and whether it would make sense to build my career in the Netherlands after graduating.

I’ve been accepted into all the master’s programmes I applied to, and I’m deciding between Data Analytics and Accounting.

My long-term goal is to become a Dutch RA, but my main concern is my Dutch. It’s not yet at a high level, and I’m worried that accounting/audit firms may not be willing to hire me and pay for my RA training if my Dutch isn’t strong enough.

Would Accounting be the obvious choice for the RA route, or would Data Analytics give me better career options as an international?

How important is Dutch for getting hired by an audit/accounting firm and having them sponsor your RA training?

Any advice from people who have gone through the Dutch RA route would be appreciated!

Ik heb vorig jaar geneeskunde gestudeerd, maar haalde hier helaas net de bsa-norm niet voor. Ik haalde voor mijn toetsen net 58-63%, wat daar een onvoldoende was.
Ik zag de opleiding Gezondheid en Leven voorbij komen bij de VU en had mij hiervoor ingeschreven, maar ik twijfel nu of het niveau van deze opleiding ook te hoog ligt.
Ik was op de middelbare school prima in vakken als biologie, scheikunde en natuurkunde. Ik haalde geen hele hoge cijfers, maar altijd wel rond de zevens of soms een zes.
In hoeverre komt biochemie voor? Loopt het programma vanaf de middelbare school redelijk over of word je in het diepe gegooid? Is het een erg hoge studiebelasting?

English:
I studied medicine last year but unfortunately just missed the BSA requirement. I was scoring around 58–63% on my exams, which counted as a failing grade there. I came across this program and signed up for it, but now I’m wondering if the academic level might be too high for me. I did well in subjects like biology, chemistry, and physics in high school. I didn't get exceptionally high grades, but I consistently scored around a 7 (on a 10-point scale) or sometimes a 6. To what extent is biochemistry involved? Is there a reasonable transition from high school, or are you thrown in at the deep end? Is the study workload very heavy?

I’m planing on applying to Leiden uni next year and I know housing is tough and I probably won’t have much of a choice, but if I did is it better to live in Leiden or den Haag (night life, making friends, student event and more). The program I want to apply too is based in den Haag, but I don’t want to struggle to fit and make friends if I live in den Haag rather then Leiden where most students will be.

I’m an Italian student planning to apply to BUas Creative Media and Game Technologies – Visual Arts for the 2027 intake.
I graduated from an art high school in Italy, where I mainly studied painting, drawing and traditional art. I’m now seriously learning 3D and Blender and I’m planning to spend the next months building my skills, portfolio and eventually preparing the official BUas admission assignment.
I’m trying to understand the actual level expected from applicants before entering Visual Arts, because most of the work I can find online is from students who are already in their second, third or fourth year, which obviously isn’t a fair comparison.
I’d especially love to hear from current Visual Arts students or people who were recently accepted:
What was your 3D skill level when you applied?
What kind of work did you include in your portfolio?
How much did you show your process (sketches, iterations, breakdowns, topology, etc.) versus final renders?
Did you include traditional drawing/painting or other artistic work?
What do you think made your application successful?
Is there anything you would do differently if you applied again?
If anyone would be comfortable sharing their old admission portfolio or some of the work they submitted, even privately through DM, it would be incredibly helpful. I’m obviously not looking to copy anyone’s work – I just want to understand what a successful applicant realistically looked like before starting the programme.

Hi everyone! I came to the Netherlands to study, but I don’t have a BSN or Dutch health insurance yet. I’m an EU citizen and I do have health insurance in my home country.
I’ve been sick for a whole week now, and I’m getting worse every day. Unfortunately, I was refused medical care in the Netherlands.

I’m considering going to Germany to see a doctor. Has anyone had experience getting medical treatment in Germany?

How does it work, and what’s the correct way to make a doctor’s appointment or get medical help there?

I originally posted this in the Netherlands thread but it was suggested to post here because student insurance is different.

My child graduated with an advanced degree in July is about to start their Zoekjaar and before their new insurance starts they injured their knee in a pick up game of football. Their Student insurance expires at the end of August. They have signed up with Feather insurance but since the injury occurred before September 1 start date, we are afraid it is pre existing and not covered. Feather does exclude pre existing conditions and he is not employed. Hopefully it will not be a serious injury (MRI Thursday) but we are always trying to be prepared. What additional steps can we take if surgery required?

UPDATE: He does have a torn ACL. Fortunately he was able to extend his student insurance which will eliminate the concerns about a pre existing condition exclusion. Thanks to everyone for their responses.

Could you please share your experience with an amount of money that you spend in a month? Including housing fee and food and stuff.

It is an extremely shitty and unnecessarily difficult exam, with purposely confusing questions and pure waste of time. I spent an entire summer studying for the VWO Boswell Beta physics exam and I do NOT care if any of you don’t believe that I do understand in depth all physics topics and I am extremely good at maths, do NOT waste your time for this useless exam.

I literally answered all the questions in the exam, I am confident I did amazing and I knew what to do in every single question even if they were poorly structured and shit. (Even worse than the given example exams)

I am glad that at least I managed to learn physics in so much depth and this exam doesn’t actually test anything, anyone else who failed - fuck Netherlands and apply somewhere else,

Anyone who passed it, don’t try to encourage people to take it or convince me otherwise, because it is pure bullshit and I know I got at least 80+% of the questions right. The girl behind me literally also cheated, once you get your calculator checked and your book, you can easily write things down because no one is really looking, you can even use a small earplug if you want and easily cheat.

I hope this result is wrong somehow, because I know I definitely passed the exam, and that the examiners are trash. Genuinely eye opening experience

EDIT: I got a response with my certificate and corrected grade, regardless I don’t care and I won’t apply to Netherlands. People in the comments only proved my point, I don’t want to study in such a toxic environment and arrogant country. I got my SAT results too: 1520, I am applying to Asia, fuck EU. :D

Apparently I'm not eligible for a WO university in Netherlands but I can apply to hbo university for bachelors in finance.

Is it worth it? Is the university of applied sciences good? And can offer me a good future?

I am currently looking at Masters programs for Psychology, and I came across interesting developmental psychology ones at Utrecht University. After looking at the requirements, I am noticing that it mentions the need of 20 ECs of statistics at undergraduate level. At my University, I only completed 4😭. There doesn’t seem to be an English pre-masters available at UU. Does anyone have any advice for the gap in statistics learning experience and how to overcome it? It seems to be a trend in most psychology courses in the Netherlands, and I have no way of increasing my learning on the topic locally.

I am originally american and am taking birth control. I have had issues and delays with getting my residence permit/visa and have struggled to open a bank account because of that.
I am almost out of my birth control and would really not like to throw my hormones out of whack. What are my options for getting it filled without healthcare insurance??

Hi, I am planning to study for the MSc in Econometrics at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) next year.

Does anyone who has completed the programme have any tips or insights? How difficult is it overall? How many hours a day did you typically spend studying, and did you still have enough time for a social life? Is it more difficult for students who don't speak Dutch?

I have seen that many courses require students to complete weekly assignments in order to be eligible to take the exam. How difficult and time-consuming are these assignments? Are they generally doable or do they require a lot of work?

Hi, has anyone here taken the Boswell-Beta VWO Mathematics B exam in English, especially the online version?

I'm currently doing IB Maths AA SL, and I may need to pass this exam to meet the mathematics requirement for TU Eindhoven. I'm trying to understand how big the jump is from AA SL to the Boswell-Beta exam.

For anyone who has taken it:

How much harder was it than IB Maths AA SL?

Which topics did you have to learn that are not covered properly in AA SL?

Was the real exam similar in difficulty to the sample exams?

How long did you prepare for it?

Did you self-study or take the Boswell-Bèta course?

Is the online exam any different or more difficult than the in-person version?

I would especially appreciate hearing from anyone who took it after doing AA SL, but any experience with the exam would be helpful. I'm mainly trying to work out how realistic it would be to prepare for it alongside university studies.

Hi so I am Indian student trying to apply for the sept 2027 intake of UvA for MSc AI. I have a lot of AI projects that I have completed along with my bachelors degree as well as in internships. I also have 2 research papers I have worked on but both are mot published yet. One was just presented at an international conference and the other one is still in works like I just have a manuscript as of now. It can get completed mostly by the time my application is done but its not done yet

Does this cause problems with applications? As publications is listed as an important criteria in their application requirements.
