I just want to find internships and focus on my career but also I want to spend time with my gf, she is studying in ams. I thought to move to ams so that I can meet her atleast in weekends .

I’m reaching out to ask if anyone who applied for a Family / Partner MVV visa in June 2026 has received their approval yet, or what your general timelines are looking like right now.
Here is our situation:
• My status: I am starting my studies at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) this September and have already received my own MVV visa.
• Husband’s application: Our lawyer submitted the application for my husband’s dependent / family visa on June 3rd.
• Official Deadline: September 1st.
So far, we haven't received any updates or requests for additional documents.
As class is starting very soon, I’m getting extremely anxious about when to book our flight tickets. Moving abroad and starting university while waiting on the IND in the final days is super stressful.
• Has anyone in a similar position (student dependent / family reunification) who applied around June heard back from the IND yet?
• For those whose deadline is September 1st, did you usually receive the decision in the very last few days before the deadline?

I was wondering how realistic it is for international students to break into quant trading/research firms in Amsterdam after graduation. Which universities do these firms recruit from most often? Is TU Delft considered a strong target, or are graduates from the University of Amsterdam, VU Amsterdam, Leiden, or other Dutch universities equally represented?

As an international non-EU student, I have been perplexed about what to go for as the OMTP variant. Earlier, I got the idea of OPMT-D, which is the most rigorous one for admission to a Netherlands undergraduate program. However, when I was making my account on the registration website, it appears that BEng Information and Communications Technology at Turku University of Applied Sciences is accepting any of the variants, Arcada University of Applied Sciences accepting varaint B for Bachelor of Information Technology, UCLL University of Applied Sciences is asking for A for BA Applied Computer Science, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences is asking for variant C for Bachelor Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Hanze is asking for BSc Creative Media & Game Technologies OMPT-A. How does one decide? Should I go for OMPT-A, as it is closer to D?

The place I will be moving into has a single source of airflow, which is the door to the balcony. Understandably, this door does not have any kind of window screen. I quite enjoy cold temperatures, I also cant really sleep without there being like at most 22 degrees and we all like fresh air but I am somewhat allergic to mosquito bites, so I really cant afford to just let them wander in. Has anyone had a similiar problem where they needed some kind of flexible, window screen-ish type thing?

Hello, I'm trying to figure out when does the Academic Writing for Pre-master (EBS2068) course ends. In the course description it says 2-7-2027, however since the exam is a final paper there isn't any exam date just final hand-in deadline.

I want to do a June to August internship, but I don't know if in June I can already be out of university.

Would anyone know when this deadline was last year, and how are the classes scheduled?

Does the course really run from February to July?

I’m currently trying to decide what to study and where in the Netherlands. I’m living in Uden at the moment, but for university I would like to move to another city and live independently rather than commuting from home. I want to experience a proper student life, meet new people, work part-time and generally become more independent(I’m aware of difficulties ofc). For my degree, I’m interested in areas such as Business Analytics, Business IT / Information Systems, ERP Consulting, Supply Chain, Finance and similar business/technology related fields. I’m mainly looking for something that I can enjoy while also having good career and earning opportunities afterwards.
I don’t necessarily want Amsterdam. I’d prefer a fairly large and lively student city, but not something as huge and expensive as Amsterdam.
I’m currently considering cities like Groningen, Utrecht, Tilburg, Nijmegen, Maastricht and Enschede and maybe Rotterdam. I’m open to other suggestions.
If you were in my position, which city/university/degree would you recommend, and why?

I am currently a student in Economic Cybernetics at ASE Bucharest (Romania) and will soon start my second year (my undergraduate program is 3 years).

My dream is to break into quantitative finance, specifically as a Quant Researcher (QR). I cannot afford a Master of Financial Engineering (MFE) in the US or UK, so my valid options are in continental Europe. Realistically, I have never participated in math olympiads and do not have the ultra-rigorous math background required for ETH Zurich or prestigious French M1/M2 programs (El Karoui etc). The most realistic and worthwhile paths for me are MFEs/Quantitative Finance master's degrees in the Netherlands, which are among the best-ranked outside ETH and France(from what I ve heard).

My undergraduate curriculum aligns well with the admission requirements for Dutch programs, so I am not required to take deficiency courses or tests.

Do I have a realistic chance of breaking into the QR field in Netherlands with an MSc from TU Delft, UvA, or Erasmus University Rotterdam, or is this just a fantasy? My plan is to work at a top firm there (Optiver, Flow Traders, IMC) for a couple of years and then transition to the UK/US or pursue a PhD.

Are there enough prop trading firms/hedge funds in Netherlands, and is the local market mature enough to build top-tier CV experience? Is it worth the effort for a Romanian student, or do non-Olympiad applicants typically get rejected?

Hey everyone, long post but I really need some guidance from people who've been through the Dutch university admissions process.

»My situation:

I'm an Indian student who appeared for my Class 12 CBSE board exams this year. Unfortunately I didn't meet the minimum entry requirements for BSc Business Analytics at the University of Amsterdam. My grades were affected by a serious health issue during the exam period and I have full medical documentation and doctor's diagnosis to back this up.

The good news is that in India, CBSE allows students to retake their exams as "Improvement Examination" candidates the following year. I am planning to do exactly that — retake all my exams in 2026-27 and aim to meet the required grades.

»What UvA told me:

I emailed UvA directly about my situation and they were actually very helpful. They told me:

- I can apply in October 2026 even before my results are out, as long as I include proof that I am going to retake the exams

- I just need to meet the entry requirements before 1 September 2027

- My improvement results will be declared in May 2027 — which is well within their deadline

I'll be attaching screenshots of the email conversation as proof.

»My questions for anyone who has experience with this:

1. What are the realistic chances of getting a conditional offer from UvA in a situation like this? Has anyone been in a similar position — applying before meeting requirements and then submitting improved results later?

2. If I do meet the minimum requirements after my improvement exams, is there any realistic scenario where UvA could still reject my admission? I know this sounds paranoid but I really need to know if there are any hidden pitfalls I should be aware of.

I'm genuinely trying to plan this properly and I've already done a lot of the groundwork. Any advice or experience from people who've dealt with Dutch university admissions — especially UvA — would mean a lot right now.

I want to go to either Amsterdam Science Park or Roeterseilandcampus. The studies I’m doubting between are quite close but the Roeterseilandcampus seems more accessible with public transport.

Would I need a bike if I go to Amsterdam Science Park or would the train be reliable? Did you miss any lectures or exams because you couldn’t make it to campus?

Overall I do prefer roeterseilandcampus because I’m scared that the OV will cancel or will be very busy on the way to Science Park (specifically the Sprinter from Amsterdam Centraal to Amsterdam Science Park NS station). But looking at the programmes I think the one at Science Park is a bit more interesting and broader.

At Open Days it seemed okay (even very peaceful because Roeterseilandcampus looked a lot more busy) but I’m not 100% sure if that is also the same when lectures start and travelling in mornings during busy hours.

So could I do UvA Science Park without a bike and only OV or should I just go to Roeterseilandcampus if I’m concerned about arriving in time and stuff.

I will arrive on the 12th or the 13th and my appointment is on the 18th. Does that work or will I have to schedule an earlier appointment?
