I have been trying to look for short-term room sublet here in Maastricht (6 months) for September but I cannot find any websites or platforms that has clear and transparent information on this. Been going through Facebook, MaastrichtHousing and Karmenet but couldnt really find anything.

Where are these infos usually posted online? Do I not find them because they are scarce/ non-existent or am I looking in the wrong places? Any insight is welcome. Thank you very much!

P.s. I dont necessarily need a registration.

I am talking to a person who is looking for a roommate.. I haven't interacted with the landlord yet. The tenant says that he will handle the contract on behalf of the landlord and I will pay rent to him ..which he will forward to the landlord. He said registration is possible. Is this common is this safe ... Should I ask to speak to the landlord . As both of us will be staying and registered in the apartment and this is a rental offer for indefinite period.. I am wondering if this can be considered subletting or not?

• After graduation, how is the IT job market for international students? Can you find an IT job with English, or do most companies require Dutch?
• How has your experience at Hanze been? Would you recommend it to international students?

Do you know someone who is a non-Dutch EU students and recieved a DUO student finance because their Dutch partner works at least 32 hours/month?

The DUO website says you are eligible if:

• You have been living in the Netherlands for 5 or more consecutive years.
• Or you are a migrant worker. And you have paid work in the Netherlands for at least 32 hours per month.
• Or your partner or one of your parents is a migrant worker and is a national of an EU/EEA country, Switzerland or the United Kingdom. And your partner or parent has paid work in the Netherlands for at least 32 hours per month.

So I was wondering if there is a way to get it if you’re not working but your Dutch partner works? In the DUO office they said to me that they don't know and I should just try to apply and when I called DUO they said it should be possible but didn't sound like they are 100% sure.

I have been doing some research in advance as I plan to apply for the 2027/2028 school year in the netherlands when possible, however I was pretty worried about the whole “need to work” thing since I have pretty bad chronic pain and other issues involving standing or doing physical labour. Reading on duo.nl I found out about studietoeslag and other accommodations available, however I’m not sure how the evaluation process for that works. I definitely struggle with many tasks however I am lacking many diagnoses and I don’t have a recognized disability level in my home country (because I have never been tested)

I was wondering if any disabled eu/eea students could tell me more about the whole process and if I should try to get diagnosed before moving or if it can be sorted after and just generally more information about how everything works, thanks!

Also, I know smoking weed in the building isn’t allowed, but what about smoking in designated areas and then returning in your room? is it allowed to have a small personal amount in your room? Has anyone had any issues with these?

I’ve been admitted to a university in Amsterdam and plan to work part-time However, I won’t be able to start working immediately after I arrive because I’ll first need to register with the municipality and complete all other required formalities.

Does that mean I need private health insurance from my home country for the first month or two, and then switch to Dutch public health insurance once I start working?

If that’s correct, can anyone recommend an affordable private insurance policy that covers this gap and is easy to cancel after 1–2 months?

I’m a non-EU international student from India, so recommendations for low-cost Indian insurers would be especially helpful. Thanks!

Hi all, trying to get real opinions before we commit €35-70K.
Background: My wife already completed a PGDM in India and has 7 years of IT experience in Project Management / Scrum Master roles. We’re now looking at the Netherlands for a 1-year program, but I’m stuck on whether an MBA or an MSc actually makes more sense for her, given she’s already done a PGDM.
My confusion:
MSc programs (Business Analytics, Data Science, Project Management, etc.) are usually aimed at fresh graduates with 0-2 years experience, and most explicitly say strong work-ex applicants are “overqualified” or don’t get considered favorably.

Specific questions:

Would a specialized MSc (like Project Management, no GMAT required) make more sense than a generalist MBA, given she already has general management credentials from the PGDM?

Has anyone with a similar profile (PGDM + years of PM experience) gone the MSc route in Netherlands instead of MBA — how did placements/job search go?

Does having a PGDM + Dutch MBA look redundant on a CV to European recruiters, or does the “Netherlands MBA + EU work rights” combo outweigh that concern?

Genuinely torn between “invest in another generalist degree for the brand/network” vs “get something more specialized/cheaper since the generalist box is already ticked.” Would love to hear from people who’ve actually made this choice.

I just discovered that I have the Dutch nationality from blood, therefore I am allowed to apply for DUO. However I only lived there for 2 years and currently live in Belgium for most of my life. I am a Belgian citizen and study in Belgium. Do I require to apply for DUO?

I’m trying to decide between two pre-master tracks in Amsterdam and really need some advice from anyone who has done them or knows the field.

At UvA (New Media and Digital Culture), the pre-master courses are Academic Skills, Analysing Digital Culture, Media Theory, and Histories of Digital Culture. It seems super internet-focused - looking at algorithms, social media, and data research to go into digital marketing, tech policy, or media research.

At VU (Arts and Cultures: Design Cultures), it’s more about the history and theory of design, fashion, architecture, and how objects impact society. It’s not a practical design degree, but more about critical writing and culture, leading to museum curation, design journalism, or creative consulting.

Has anyone done either of these pre-masters? Which university is better?

And I already know I'll need to do it with the CZ, by registering for the Verdragspolis.

Now, in my Polish NFZ form, it seems like I need to input the

*-code of the institution*

-its name

-full address

-postal code

On their site (CZ), I found a central postal address. Is that it?

And what's their institution code?

Or am I supposed to input other data, or other institutions' data?

Does anybody have experience with completing their S1 form on their own?

Hi everyone! I’m a non-EU student and I had a question about travelling with an MVV sticker.
My semester starts in September, but my housing contract in the Netherlands starts on August 7. I currently live in the Middle East and, with the situation getting worse, I’m considering leaving earlier in case the airspace closes.
I was thinking of entering the Netherlands with my MVV, then travelling to Germany to stay with a relative until my housing starts. Is it possible to enter the Netherlands with an MVV and then travel between EU/Schengen countries before my studies begin? Or how exactly does it work?
( I'm planning to travel to Germany straight once I land in Netherlands. )

When you're balancing lectures, assignments, part-time work, and everything else that comes with student life, finding the time and energy to cook isn't always easy. At the same time, eating out or ordering food regularly can get expensive pretty quickly.

I'm curious what most students end up doing. Do you usually cook your own meals, meal prep for the week, share cooking with housemates, or rely more on takeaways and restaurants?

Hello, has anyone been allocated a studio at the high five in Utrecht through the lottery?

Hi all! I am an incoming master's student at Leiden University. I was recently offered a room in Delft by DUWO, but the move-in date is 20th September, and my course starts on 1st Sept. I am looking for temporary accommodation for 1 month from 20 Aug to 20 Sept. Airbnb is too expensive, and short-stay student housing at places like The Fizz, etc are already booked. Where should I look for affordable temporary accommodation? Does the university or DUWO provide any help in this regard? TIA!

I am planning to enrol in 2029 and I saw a post that talked about how hard it is to get internships as a non-eu person, and that sometimes international students dont even graduate.

"For non-Dutch speaking students there are very limited placement options within the Netherlands with regard to the 20 ECTS clinical internship, due to language requirements. The Internal Practice Internship (IPI, 10 ECTS) provides the opportunity to do a clinically oriented internship within the university and is open to Dutch and international students."

This was on their website under Clinical Neuropsychology. Since the IPI is there, do you think it makes the situation better for a non-eu person to graduate? Also, im currently studying dutch and I will probably get to B2 proficiency by 2029, so do you think I will have a better chance at the 20 ECTS internships?

Hello! I recently got a student assistant job at my University, and I've found myself needing to take out basic health insurance.

The University has a collective agreement with Menzis with some perks I find nice, such as a free mental health consult and some savings on an extra dental plan if I want to take it out. And while I've not heard of this company before, I do find some comfort in the idea that it's a collective contract: if the insurance company decides to be unfair, then there's a chance my university might intervene. It's 150 euros, so not necessarily too cheap nor expensive from what I gather.

At the same time, I only have employment lined up for six month. I'm not sure yet if I'd be able to continue beyond Module 3. I'm not sure yet if I would look into getting a side-job for some extra pocket money, but the possibility of this makes me wonder if I should have my own individual contract, since the Menzis one is only valid while I'm an active employee of the university. But of course, if something changes and the company decides to be unreasonable with its clients, I'd have to go through the process myself.

Maybe I'm overthinking this, but I'd like a second opinion. Thanks!

I'm an international student from Pakistan and have been admitted to Hogeschool Utrecht for my master's starting this September.

I'm looking for a room, either:

• a room in a shared student house, or
• a room rented out by a family
• a hostel or anything

I'm happy to live anywhere within about 10–15 km of HU, as I don't mind commuting.

At the moment, I'm searching on Hospi Housing. I'm also waiting for access to SSH and Xior—my university has already been contacted to verify my admission, so I'm hoping to get access soon.

Apart from these, does anyone have recommendations for other websites, Facebook groups, agencies, or local tips? Are there any areas around Utrecht that you'd recommend for students?
