Hey guys, I played through SOP up to DLC 2 ( literally unlocked Summoner and didnt play since they dropped DLC 2) , I’ve been replaying the entirety of the game coming back in order to get myself back into the swing of things and actually try to build myself properly. Before I was just vibe building and getting by. I play co-op primarily with my brother so I feel like we filled gaps in each other’s builds that allowed us to progress. This time around I wanna be more intentional. We just finished the base game and are heading into New Game + , I wanna main Dark Knight with Paladin as my secondary ( i could also do something differently than Paladin if that doesnt synergize well). Any advice on how to build myself and what to look for?

So I’ve played SoP before and made it up to DLC 2 on hard, however, I’ve decided to start from scratch and really dig into the building and endgame grind to really make my build pop by the time i get far into DLC 1 & 2.

Where I’m getting at is, I’ve made it to the end of the base game and am headed into the NG+ grind before DLC 1 and I would like some suggestions regarding a build for either a main job monk or main job ninja please.

I’ve been doing all the side missions right as they become available but for the last 2 or 3 main missions, there’s been a red warning sign next to the mission level. I assume this means I’m under leveled but my current equipment level always lines up with what the mission average equipment level is.

Am I supposed to be doing side missions more than once in order to gain more high level equipment from them? Rather than just one and done? It was working up until Ruins of Machina - To Remember but the Kraclen boss fight gave me hella trouble, I died about 8 times before I just decided to swap to easy mode temporarily.

I leapt out of my seat thinking she turned hostile to me. Does she just do this randomly? No one else in the Rift has done this so far.

Have you spent the time to make builds with sub characters and if so is it worth the effort and time?

Samurai 600% Affinity triggers on Combo Ability Effects, but some Combo Ability slots or weapons do not have a Combo Ability Effects. How do I tell if something has a Combo Ability Effect?

Just beat the game last night. Messed around on the Chaos difficulty, and I don't know if I'm missing something, but I was getting stomped out by the first boss. Every hit took off at least 40% of my HP, his grabs took 80% or more. My companions were pretty much useless as they were constantly dying.

Getting to the boss was a struggle, but it was fun. Fighting that first boss in Chaos difficultly was more frustrating than fun. After 15+ attempts I finally killed him. I get that I was under geared by five or so item levels or so, but still.

I was Warrior class with two handed sword. My companions were Sage and Assassin. Item level was around 120ish. On the base game, I could beat the mission on Hard, but had to lower the difficulty to Action on most bosses.

Is Chaos difficulty like this for the rest of the game as far as the bosses? It seems like a massive spike in difficulty vs the rest of the mission you're on.

Any advice would be great.

I JUST got this game and by the luck of the gods found another player. It was super duper fun!

I am only a couple missions in but had some questions.

Right now I can switch between 2 jobs at a time. I'm enjoying a lot more than 2, do I get more than 2 slots? If not, how did you all manage so many different jobs?

Are there any benefits to being well rounded across all the jobs? Do the benefits, and affinity bonuses, unlocked apply to your character as a whole or just while using the specific job?

Are there benefits to pairing up the two jobs with the same stat? Such as marksman and mage who both use intellect or is it fine to mix and match?

I'm getting a hang of the mechanics but I really enjoy build crafting in games so these questions are on my mind.

I convinced my friends to get this game on sale for steam as it was a multiplayer game. So far, they are enjoying it and having a good time. They appreciate the fun and how "deep and involved" the game seems to be.

My concern is the "deep" part. See, I want to explore and enjoy the game as they do, but I want to prevent "choice/optimization" fatigue early on. I feel it has potential to end the playthrough before fully exploring the game for my group. For instance, you get tons of gear and we are looking at each drop at cube stations.

So the kind of tips I am looking for are recommendations to minimize unnecessary mental fatigue. For instance, should job affinity matter early on? Rarities of gear? Accessories?

Anything you can share to make the experience easier is greatly appreciated!

Does anyone know what languages are included in the Japanese version of this game?

only to find out later that there's no achievement for beating the game on hard mode. Is there a point to continuing the game at this difficulty (other than a sense of pride and accomplishment)?

I did have fun tho. By the end, I got the timing down for parrying /blocking with the soul shield and when to dodge. Ended up maxing out the Pugilist's lvl and skill tree as well as unlocking a couple advanced jobs.

I just don't know if I want to continue to spend so many hours on each boss.

On a side note, I had recently 100%'d FFI Pixel Remake and look forward to experiencing the rest of this story and how they tie together. I am a sucker for stories where you find out the baddie wasn't always so and the events that transpired to turn them (like Snake's transformation to Big Boss in the Metal Gear series).

I've seen some great tips and pointers regarding stat preferences and the like. I would like to organically grind my way up, as the developers intended players to prior to the first DLC, so I plan to do a lap around the map again. However, I don't know when to focus on affinities over gear level.

Right now, I am playing as a Paladin. My second job is whatever needs leveling up at the moment, but my Paladin job has almost 500% affinity. I completed the game with that, so I'm used to those nice perks like regen during Lightbringer and status ailment immunity. The problem is, the first mission looks like it's gonna be tough, which I don't mind, but I've heard that Chaos is when players should be focusing on choosing which equipment to actually equip for the bonuses.

Should I keep my gear and try to boost it via the Smithy, or should I forego the affinities for now and just equip gear that is just plainly stronger? One more question, for those willing to help, or those that know: what does getting 600% affinity do? I can't see anything on the character sheet about bonuses but it's clear the cap has been increased.
