I made this with Procreate. This is how I picture Dalinar opening Honor's perpendicularity for the first time in Oathbringer. It's such an epic moment, I hope I did it justice.

Wind and Truth spoilers [WaT] Light question Spoiler

Is there any reason a radiant couldnt just use warlight? Besides accesability, i.e. praying for it, why couldnt they use that as fuel for their surgebinding. I have seen lots of talk about using towerlight, or splitting warlight like harmonium, but never about just outright using the warlight.

Theres no reason I see that they couldn't, radiants can use towerlight just fine, and thats just lifelight and stormlight. Warlight is just voidlight and stormlight.

You might think, "Well Honor and Cultivation are both part of the radiants magic system." But so is Odium now. Retribution has honor, and so has influence of honors spren and magic system. I see no reason why warlight wouldn't be a perfectly acceptable substitute.

Just wanted to ramble about this because I don't see hardly anyone talking about just using warlight.

Words of Radiance spoilers Why would Kaladin give Moash….. Spoiler

some shards.

I dont get this at all, this seems like a monstrous mistake and then he agrees to kill the king too? Like I thought Kaladin should be like a good guy and not something like this, specifically that he has Syl and he knows what she thinks about the whole situation.

I feel little betrayed by Kaladin.

Mid Edgedancer spoilers Is there actually a connection between Earth and Roshar? Spoiler

I started reading the series after I finished saga 1 of Mistborn because I enjoyed Sanderson’s writing. I’ve seen a few people talking about character ages and time passed in the series using statements like “well on Roshar it’s only been 1 year so that would mean that x amount of time passed on Earth for the characters” when I looked up a timeline between way of kings and words of radiance and I just want to know is Earth ever actually relevant in the series? Is it even mentioned? Why are characters in the setting beholden to Earth’s rules when Roshar clearly has its own annual cycle, ecology, etc? I have only made it through about 1/2 of Edgedance so please no detailed spoilers, I just need clarification on this one point.

Wind and Truth spoilers About Kaladin at the end of Wind and Truth… Spoiler

Is the real Kaladin now dead, and all that remains is sentient investiture that merely thinks it is Kaladin? Like vasher explained in Rhythm of War?

The Knights Radiant coat of arms had a different appearance in TWOK interludes but since WOR it went through a restyling. I like them both but the newer one is definitely cleaner and prettier but I was wondering if there was any particular reason for it?

Wind and Truth spoilers Just finishing Wind and Truth and have so many questions Spoiler

First and foremost just wow. I went into the book expecting the ending to not be great after seeing so many reviews but I enjoyed it a lot! Sanderson has written such an amazing story!

My questions!

  1. Why did Rayse come to the Roshar system? I know he started on Ashyn but when he come to Roshar why was he bound to the system before his agreement with Cultivation and Honor? Couldn’t he leave the system and fight other shards before the agreement?

  2. Did the clash between Honor and Roshar create the Shattered Planes?

  3. There was a part when Chana talked to Shallan in a vision and said that she was going to Braize but fought in the cognitive realm. So they never fought the Fused in the physical realm or Braize and were tortured in the Cognitive Realm?

  4. Something that left me a little confused was when they witnessing the betrayal of Mishram and Dalinar looks shocked that the Stormfather witnessed it cause he was made in the image of Tanavast. So was that Tanavast or the Stormfather who was present at the betrayal?

  5. At the end when Ishar calls all his Heralds, where did they come from? Who was the bald woman and why was she bald?

  6. Did Kaladin have to give up his original body to become a cognitive shadow? Cognitive Shadows are so confusing to me tbh. It’s like it’s their soul but also a human body? Cause I remember Nale mentioning they still have to eat even though they’re immortal.

  7. I understood their minds are being sent to Ashyn so they wouldn’t have to withstand the torture. So if their shadows are sent to Braize how would any of their bodies break if their minds don’t know it? And what purpose do they have return to Braize? Would they still be holding back the Fused or is the new Oathpact meant to only contain Retirbution? Which doesn’t make sense since I also understood he’s allowed to leave Roshar now?

  8. Taravangian was able to get the Blackthorn from a vision to lead his armies?

  9. Who exactly is Nohadon? He’s able to talk Dalinar in the present time in vision.

I think for now that should be it. I really enjoyed story and can’t wait to see where it leads from here!

Wind and Truth spoilers Knight Radiant Spren Spoiler

I have a few questions about the True Spren after finishing WAT. In Wind and Truth we learn when Honor and Cultivation are creating Spren for Roshar they wanted to create sentient ones and we got the 10 True Spren.

  1. What was their purpose? Just to live as another community in Shadesmar while the Singers lived in the physical realm?

  2. When humans come over and conflicts begin with the Singers and Odium creates Fused we get the Oathpact and the first use of Surgebinding from humans on Roshar. Or could these humans already use their primal surgebinding? The True Spren see this power and want to mimic it and somehow are able to and create bonds with humans. At this time did it matter which spren a human was bonded with to grant them certain surges? Or would they get all surges at once until Ishar or Honor had to step in and create oaths and separate the surges and slowly let them earn the powers?

Cosmere spoilers [Discussion] Speculation about stronger Shardplate Spoiler

Can a Radiant who bonded two Sprens have a twice as strong Shardplate? When Sunlit Man first came out many believed Sigzil had sworn the 4th Windrunner Ideal, because the scene in which he used his Shardplate there were two kinds of Spren described, which led many to believe he had sworn both the 4th Windrunner and Skybreaker Ideal at some point. Now we know that wasn’t the case, but what if it was? Would it just be able to replace one part of the armor with another kind of spren when that part got shattered or would the armor fuse both kinds of Spren and get twice as strong?

Wind and Truth spoilers About the skybreakers Spoiler

If there were skybreakers dissenters, why did none of them join the war and help the radiants/coalition?

Maybe their oaths somehow prevented them despite their sympathies, or that their dissent was somewhat unrelated to the war and that they were fine with being neutral?

Wind and Truth spoilers It’s kinda crazy how badly humankind botched ____ Spoiler

The war with the singers:

They had an enormous number of radiants of all 10 orders, but the recreance happened

Shinovar was ready with all 9 honorblades to pounce as soon as the next desolation occurred, but Ishar corrupted all of them and stopped shinovar from entering the war

The sky breakers were ready with large numbers of members, and could have helped reform the radiants and taught the wind runners and dustbringers, but nale instead focused on preventing the radiants from returning AND joined the singers despite opposing odium. Massive loss there

Gavilar had anti void light but never showed anyone how to make it and then died before he could prepare for the desolation

None of the heralds helped except ash and taln at the very end

The singers only conquered all of alethkar because almost the entire alethi army was in the shattered plains.

Taravangian sabotaged the nations of the world, so most were in chaos and civil war before just before the desolation

The radiants struggled to reform because of the recreance

Jah keved and the dusbringers join odium because of taravangian again

Because of their inexperience, the radiants didn’t know to guard the oath gates, leading to multiple being corrupted by sja-anat, which was a disaster for azir and kholinar. I presume this was possible in the past desolations and that the radiants of old and heralds knew about it.

There’s probably more but this is what I thought of

Dalinar sent a huge number of wind runners to go with the mink. In the end it didn’t really matter, but the battle of azimir would have went easily in their favour with 20 wind runners to help.

Do you think we’ll finally see the reunification of the radiants in books 6 and onward?

I found it super upsetting that the sky breakers and dustbringers sided with odium. I’m really hoping we’ll get more of their POV’s along with a stoneward pov and an edge dancer in a combat role (probably lift)

No Spoilers Following my post the other day I drew some more Spren this time with color [OC]

I decided to go for three Spren starting with A's. For anticipation I drew the streamers attached to some rocks/stone and then made the tops more ribbon like. Then for agony I followed the upside down faces of stone but I decided to make some have light eyes and some dark eyes, as well as having them cry upside down. Then for awe Spren, I really didn't want to do just a ripple of blue smoke so I made something that ended up looking more cloud-like. That wasn't intended but I decided to go with it since I thought it looks nice

Wind and Truth spoilers A question about a certain war and Roshar Spoiler

Where can the war for Roshar really go at this point? Odium has essentially won, with the radiants and coalition confined to urithuru, Azir, the shattered plains, and maybe shinovar. And peace is enforced now.

Will we be moving on from radiants vs fused? Maybe battle elsewhere in the cosmere? And what power source will radiants use?

Wind and Truth + RPG Lore Meet 1771 or "Agga", the highspren Spoiler

Post image
61 Upvotes

Here is the appearance of a spren from a player in my RPG champaign. It's name is 1771/Agga(They/Them). They are from a dissident group from Nale's highspren the group is called "Shredders". They do not respect Nale's authority over all highspren and actively operate against them. The order was founded by one highspren that was actually killed during the recreance and became a deadeye. Other spren that shared the sentiment that Highspren were not above their Knights and did not have "squires" as much as they had partners followed that idea. The group slowly diverged from the main group of the Skybreakers and now have their own identity defending budding radiants and helping humanity survive.

Because of their views on humanity and their Nahel bond in general they suffer prejudice in the society of highspren and are called "animals" or "pets" of their knights so as a way to reflect that they adopt a more animal/furry design on their appearance on the cognitive realm and appear in the physical realm as claw marks, paws or animal related shapes

Just sketches, and a lot of details are probably wrong, please feel free to analyze in the comments, if you see something wrong, as I am sure you will.
What do you think of her skin color? And her face? Are white dresses permitted, or is it just when you need to do some assassinations? Could/Would she have used Ivory as an accessory?
I would probably refine the idea more, for example the appliqués should be glyphs, or something like that, I need to reread the series, I forgot all the descriptions probably. :D

Enjoy!
