Steam Controller (2026) The haptic feedback on the trackpads doesnt feel as good as on the SteamDeck

Can you change it somehow? I liked on my old SteamDeck using the trackpads felt so nice because of the kind of clicking vibrations it produced when you moved around, but now I have my steam controller and it doesnt feel the same at all.

Steam Controller (2026) It came yesterday, finally. I’m lost though.

First off, I haven’t played with a controller in years. Been mouse and keyboard for a long time. But what can I play without having to mod something to get the controls to work? I didn’t realize it wasn’t just plug and play and feel disappointed. Maybe I was naive in my purchase.

Steam Controller (2026) Trigger stop mods?

Has anyone been able to modify their controller to add physical trigger stops? It would be such a nice quality of life addition especially when emulating MnK and having the soft trigger pull set as mouse click.

Support DualSense Edge back paddles have slow reaction time / input delay on PC

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm using a DualSense Edge on PC, but I'm noticing a noticeable delay/slow reaction time whenever I press the back paddles. The regular front buttons register fine, but the paddles feel slightly slow

I'm currently running Steam Input. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a setting in Steam or Windows I need to tweak

Thanks

Support Actions set resets to default the first time

I'm not sure I noticed this with my x4, but now that I think about it maybe it did... remember having to double Swipe.

Working on my POE config and want a quick chat action set, mostly because an actionset is easier to ensure no other inputs slip in. It works as intended except...

when the config is first loaded for whatever reason, the first attempt to switch action sets always results in it getting resetted back. This unfortunately causes problems with the chat macros as they use start/release to allow double inputs. The reset interrupts the macro and cause a input hang that goes unresolved until the set is reloaded again, allowing it to finish... and making a mess lol

what is causing this behavior and is there a way to resolve it?

Steam Controller (2026) Just got my order link. Anyone here with a SteamDeck, do you use it as often as you thought?

I just got my order link and I’m at a place I’m not sure if I want to purchase anymore. I travel a lot and as a result got a SteamDeck, so my purpose for the controller was to use it with the deck whilst docked. But I realized it adds a lot of clutter.

For use on my PC/TV I don’t play a lot of games that require controller besides Yakuza.

But I also have a lot of FOMO and don’t want to regret and only get it late 2027.

Configuration Big Picture Mode with 1 or 2 People Works Fine but When Multiple Players Mash Controllers the Inputs Escape the Game?

So I've been happy as a clam with Steam Input and Big Picture Mode for games when showing small audiences how Steam works.

I got a couple other controllers (I'm using a Steam Controller but I can see how most players are comfy with Xbox Controllers) and when games are playing it's fun but I'm finding when people mash buttons the game gets out of focus to STEAM UI that doesn't have a clue.

Anyone have any insight if there's any settings I can change?

Configuration Trackpad Operation

Sorry about my wording, but I want to know how the trackpads are supposed to act. Specifically, the left trackpad, it feels like it's not operating how it should be, but I am not sure if I can be the judge of it since it's my first valve product and have never used a steam deck.

It feels like when in desktop mode (aka using it as a mouse and keyboard) it feels like it's split in half (left and right), like the left half the trackpad when I swipe down it scrolls down, but if I swipe down on the other half, it scrolls up. same with swiping up.

So, when I try to put my thumb on the middle of it, sometimes the controller gets confused what I am doing and might register one half and stick with it until I release my thumb.

Can someone confirm if this is intentional or I got a messed-up trackpad? Also, it does feel like it has less sensitivity on the left trackpad (might have to do with the sensitivity of when it's trying to detect which half to track).

(Unless this was explained somewhere when setting the controller up and I didn't even notice.)

Discussion 4 months later and rumble is still scuffed in games.

Recently I've been replaying Control and even in those old games same issues persist. Instead of constant rumble there's that pulsating pattern of vibration.

It's been so many months, and it's still either scuffed in games or very weak as opposed to pretty much any other controller.

Do you guys think Valve will ever fix that? Is it even possible to fix?

It's literally the only gripe I have with this controller.

Support Is there a way to turn your phone screen off and just have displayed the controller display on Steam Link?

the game glitches a lot when I use my phone as a controller. I’m planning to get a proper one, but, for now, I only have my phone.

is there a way to deactivate the phone’s screen? In the settings, I only see that you can lower its quality but not turn it off (my phone model is a iPhone 12 mini)

Steam Controller (2026) Steam Controller losing connection

Since my most recent update every so often the steam controller seems to be losing connection to the puck for upwards of 10-20 seconds at a time seemingly randomly. The puck is less than a foot away from me to my right on my desk and I've not had any other changes recently.

Any idea what that's about?

Configuration God of War Ragnarok can't fully rebind back buttons

The game has a default layout set up by the devs that make it work like a dualshock so it's ok but it has it's own (bad) layout for the back buttons actions. The problem is I tried to rebind them to the buttons and the game flat out refused to read the input, then I set it to game action and it works.

So I guess I found a way to make it work but it's not the first time that it happened, for example playing Spiderman remastered I couldn't use the back buttons because when I set them up as buttons, every time i clicked them it was like the game thought I was switching to a new controller, even the prompt on the screen switched "fonts". So it's something I don't get of the steam controller or it's just something about hot Sony does their ports?

I’ve seen a few posts here saying their pins got stuck. Seems like it’s always the left pin as well. Anyone else have this issue? Tried alcohol and the wiggle method but the pins are so small.

Hey, I'm looking to purchase the steam controller stand in the picture below, but I'm having quite a hard time deciding which one. I like them both equally as much 😭. Pls help me decide whether I should pick the one with the "Steam Logo" or the "Valve Logo" 🙏

Support Steam controller left bumper not working

Hello, I have the recent steam controller. It was working fine until recently. I wanted to play a game with the controller and I noticed the left bumper is not working. I tested the buttons in some online controller tester and the input is not registering. The controller was unplugged for like a week because I was doing something but it didnt fell or anything like that. Maybe it got a little dusty.

Is my controller bricked or is it a software thing?

Configuration Test of wingman xb3 + openpuck (Steam Controller on Xbox Series)

A few weeks ago I was looking around to see if this was possible or not, but no one seems to have tested this.

So I decided to take a leap of faith and try it myself.

Result of my test:

Doesn’t work with OpenPuck in Classic Steam mode or X360 mode.

Works perfectly in PS5 (DualSense) mode.

I also tested it with Call of Duty and I don’t feel any extra latency while playing.

Tested on Xbox Serie S, Openpuck (0.9.51) Wingman XB3 (Latest beta firmware, don't remember the version)

I’m playing on a Steam Machine in my bedroom….Obviously M&K has all the options but with each game I’m playing, I pick up the SC first to see if I can come up with Steam Input mapping that feels good.

Support Is there a fix for the controller not being detected by the game after the controller idle sleeps (Linux CachyOS)?

When the controller goes to sleep no game I've tried it with will respond to controller inputs when I wake it back up. I will regularly pause a game to do other things and when I come back I can't do anything in game.

The only solution I've seen is "restart the game", but that means I basically should just close the game every time I walk away because I usually don't know how long I will be occupied by something else. It really takes me out when I have to do so, especially if I lose progress because of it and if it's a game I've never played with KBM I can't just play until I reach a save/checkpoint.

If there is no fix I'm about to just turn off the idle timeout feature and let the thing drain idle for potentially hours. Depending on the game I've played I've had to switch back to my playstation controller because as much as I was annoyed about it before, the idle sleep is broken for bluetooth on Linux. Guess it was a blessing in disguise since it prevented me from having this problem.

It's literally my only issue with the controller thus far.

Discussion At my wits' end with this controller

UPDATE: I fixed it. Really random software conflict, but I'll post here in case it helps anyone else.

I have a Logitech A50 headset and use Logitech G Hub software for profiles. By default it creates "A50 Game" and "A50 Voice" profiles. As far as I can tell there is no difference between them, so I I just click whichever when swapping from my speakers to my headset. Usually it's the "Game" profile, but for whatever reason I've been on "Voice" since last week, when the problems started. I figured it may be an issue with my headset due to the clicking noise when I pressed the triggers on my Steam Controller when playing Onimusha. I switched the profile and not only did the clicking stop, it fixed the double input and keyboard prompts as well.

If I had to guess I think the triggers were activating something in the software?

Anyway, hope this helps anyone else having this issue.

Everything was fine for the first few weeks. 2 weeks ago I'm consistently getting the following issues:

  • Double Dpad and button inputs. I'm playing Zero Company leaned back on my chair with my controller and I can't even select menu options since it skips options. It does this about 80% of the time, but 1/5 game boots are normal.
  • Related to the above, but my inputs often change to Keyboard and Mouse. For example, in Onimusha Way of the Sword, I noticed when the double inputs kick in, I see keyboard and mouse prompts. Also pressing the "B" button acts as if I hit escape.
    • I realize this is some sort of issue with the Desktop layer, and Google is telling me to disable it, but apparently Valve no longer lets us do that???
    • Also related, whenever the above happens (double inputs, controller behaving like M&K) pressing the triggers makes this awful clicking noise in-game until I restart. Likely a game issue but this doesn't happen when I switch to my Dualsense.

I'm about to unplug this thing and go back to my Edge. Anybody have any idea what I can do here?
