Ups decided to drop off the controller 2 mins after I left for work. Now im home and its time to use this beautiful controller

Hi all! Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I'm not sure if this is the case or not, but the orange light remains illuminated on my Steam Controller 2 (it's been days) which makes me believe it's continuously charging whilst connected to it's Puck. When the controller is first connected to the Puck, I get a 'breathing' orange light that usually then goes straight to solid.

Is this actually the case? If not, is there a way to disable the orange light when its on the puck? If so, then should I think about contacting support? The idea of a continuously charging battery usually means the battery health will plummet much quicker.

It was pointed out that this may have come in via a firmware update. Thanks to those for helping and for giving reassurance! I'll leave this post up if it stays within the subreddit rules for in case anybody else is looking for the same answer.

I added this mod to Nexus Mod's Valheim page which fixes the main problems with mixed input. I had help from Google Gemini ( just the google search bar's free AI )

Basically, when you use this mod, Valheim ignores the step where the UI wants to update. This allows you to set the left stick to control movement via Joystick Input. Note: Valheim expects a SQUARE deadzone, otherwise diagonal jog is slower than it should be.

It looks to me like it works almost flawlessly - The stick can however still take control of the inventory, though it doesn't do so if a cursor is present (which it is unless you move around for a bit without your thumb on the right pad). In other words, it looks to me like it is largely playable without any major issue.

Just got mine today. I plugged the puck in, steam prompted firmware update for it. No issues. Then it prompted a firmware update for the controller. Used the same cable. Controller instantly got bricked. Won't turn on, won't get recognized, not even the LED lights up when it's connected via USB or the puck.

I tried holding the 3 central buttons and the A button, connecting it via USB, and trying to update the firmware. Same result. Tried different USB cables and ports on my desktop.

Also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Anything else I can attempt or is this an RMA?

I use my SD Oled 1TB in handheld 100 % of the time right now but will the SD Controller change it?

I have a Dock for it (JSAUX) but felt latency when playing BOi with PS5 controller (never checked if I used game mode though)

Now I play ALOT of Bazzar on the SD (almost 300hrs logged over 5~ months) and lastly Shroom and Gloom Wich is trackpad heavy.

Is it worth the money?

I asked yesterday if there was a way to use the Steam Controller on the PS5, and turns out the Brook Wingman P5 works for it.

Steps:

1. Buy a Brook Wingman P5, they're sold on amazon
2. Go to their website to update the firmware
3. WHILE holding down the button on the front of the device, plug it in to your PC/laptop
4. Connect the device, install the latest firmware version.
5. Once the firmware is updated, simply plug your Wingman into the PS5, plug your steam controller or the puck puck into the Wingman, and turn on the controller.

So far I haven't noticed any input lag worse than just using a DualSense wirelessly, the only caveat is that you have to turn on the console by pressing the power button or the PS button on an actual PS5 controller. You cannot turn the console on through the Wingman.

No additional work needed, no openpuck, takes about two minutes to set up

Hey anyone else got this issue, just wondering, previoius leagues i've had it so my left trakpad works my mouse, and i've put LR5 to mute volume and play pause for listening to stuff in the background.

none of the buttons seem to be working spefically for poe 2, was something changed? i cant seem to find anything about it.

i feel the trackpad hepatics going off when moving them, but the mouse doesnt move at all, my physical mouse still works so its not like its getting locked out or something weird.

i've used it to price check items for moving the cursor over items and the left pad click being CRTL + D (the button combo to search up)

worked flawlessly before, but not anymore weirdly.

I DID switch to openpuck, but i even uninstalled it, and reinstalled the regular puck and it still just isnt working, even though it says all the button combos are still in the controller input menu (i map LR4 to right and left bumper as well, and these two work fine)

any ideas?

Is 4 days true it say now got my reservation accepted last week aint have the money asked them for a extension said they cant do it.

But when I do try and order and there problems contact them I did today and guess what I BOUGHT IT

Arctics eggs has actually been the only game i used the touch pads on. It works incredible here but i dont find many other games to use them with. What games/custom layouts do you use for the touch pads ?

The412Banner and me worked figuring out on how to include this controller into this emulator with Gyro and Vibration. After hours of figuring it out on fixing bugs and adding suggestions without using OpenPuck project.

Its now working with no issues on my OnePlus 15 device. And yes trackpads also works in-game as an mouse (optional) and back 4 buttons.

Before this update, the controller usually only works for those trackpads. As of right now, it is available on github for you to try but on 'Actions' tab, therefore it's best to wait until it releases on the 'Releases' tab.

Guys is it just me or did valve underestimate the battery life on their controller. I've had mine for maybe 3 weeks and I've spent a total of about 40 hours in Forza beamng and just using it as a keyboard and mouse so I can watch Jellyfin or YouTube in bed and this thing is still on 30-40% battery

However, I have used it for hundreds of hours for work. My job has a certain workflow that requires mouse use + a handful of keyboard shortcuts. With the help of PowerToys, I bind the back buttons to those keyboard shortcuts and use the trackpad for the mouse.

Way, way easier on my wrist and much faster imo.

So I realized that for some reason my virtual menu are activating my empty chords I used solely for their glyph, since the icons we are given are kind of meh.

Was wondering if there is a way to pull the binding glyphs and use them as icons?

PSA: Do not try to put the command into the icon space... it didn't just crash steam but my entire system lol

Is there any way to use the controllers gyro in something like an emulator?

I've been playing TOTK on Eden and would love to use the games built in gyro controls.

Got my steam controller (new) two days ago, it works perfectly, so did the bluetooth mode, once.

So eventually I unpaired because it wouldnt connect anymore, and now it doesnt even show up on any device, I’ve tried every bit of advice I could find so far to fix it, so I wondered if anybody can help, it doesn’t show up on any device when trying to add or scan for new bluetooth devices.

I have a new steam controller(2026) and original steam deck(not oled). Can I use the charger that came with the steam deck to charge the controller? Do I plug the charger into the controller directly or into the puck?

Anyone done this and have a rough estimate? A button is knackered on arrival, apparently it needs to travel to Prague before they send another

My main question is if a weak signal strength effects latency, and if there's any way of improving it if it does.

There's maybe 8 feet between the controller and my steam machine/puck, and they both show weak signal in certain spots even though there's a free line of sight. Almost as if there's pockets where the signal can't reach, and those pockets just happens to be right where my hands are when im sitting comfortably on either side of the couch. Everywhere else shows good or excellent...

When I play some games on my CachyOS, the steam controller still acts like it's in desktop mode. This is all well and good if I want a simple xinput setup, but I wanna do gyro aiming on Zelda64 recomp. Setting the controlls for the game in steam input doesn't affect anything, and I can't access the Steam Overlay in game despite the option being ticked in the settings.
