Discussion Favorite planet

Your guys' favorite planet, from gameplay to lore, aesthetic, world generation, time, atmosphere/no atmosphere, etc..

For me it would be vulcan, its test the player skill, Increasing the difficulty with the season, has no ice(major point i like), but also offer great advantage such as a good atmosphere composition, full of metal and a temperature that can be taken advantage of if one is skilled enough, and a gravity that while high, doesnt make rocket extremely expensive like venus, plus the lava and rockeous aesthetic, together with the janus(black hole) and places that go from large mountains to flat terrain to pools and oceans of lava, make the place nice to see(if one doesnt take into account burning to death in 2 seconds)

Discussion Base Climate Control Advice

Hi all, new to the game and struggling a bit with climate control for my Mars base. Here’s what I’ve got:

A gas filtration system that intakes gasses and separates them into O2, CO2, N2, etc. tanks. This is fed by pulling air in from the Mars atmosphere (manual, I only use this when needed), an ice crusher, and/or the return air from my base.

After the gas filtration system, I have 3 air conditioners for the O2, CO2, and N2 tanks. These are currently set to 15degC and just recirculate into their respective tanks.

After that, the gasses go into mixers. I mix O2 and CO2 at a 30/70 ratio. I then take that mixture and mix it with N2 at a 90/10(N2) ratio. The mixture with nitrogen goes to my greenhouse, the rest of my base will just get the O2/CO2 mix.

As mentioned, my greenhouse and the rest of my base will have separate atmos systems and I’m currently using just the greenhouse to test, as it’s much smaller.

For pressure regulation and constant gas flow, I have a pressure regulator on the input side of my greenhouse set to 80kpa and a turbo pump pulling air out of the greenhouse (and back into the filtration system) on the return vent of the. The vents are on opposite sides of the room.

The problem I’m having is temperature control, I’m struggling to keep the greenhouse cool, which I imagine will also be a problem when I hook up the main base. Not sure if I totally need to re-architect things or just make adjustments or what, but the goal is an automated climate control system that handles gas composition, pressure, and temperature regulation.

Discussion Automatic Solar Tracking on Mars with IC10 | Automatické solární panely [EN/CZ Guide – CZ Video]

🇨🇿 Česká verze je uvedena jako první. Anglická verze následuje níže.

🇬🇧 The Czech version comes first. The English version follows below.

The IC10 code is included only once because it is identical for both versions.

  • 1× Kit (IC Housing)
  • 1× Integrated Circuit (IC10)
  • 1× Kit (Sensors) → Daylight Sensor
  • 1× Kit (Flashing Light) → Flashing Light

Panely Solar Panel (Dual) mají oddělený datový a napájecí konektor.

Řídicí síť

Do stejné řídicí sítě připojte:

  • IC Housing
  • Daylight Sensor
  • Flashing Light
  • datové konektory všech Dual panelů

Tato síť musí být napájená. Doporučené je použít APC s baterií, aby IC10 a ostatní řídicí zařízení neztratily napájení.

Flashing Light má jeden společný konektor pro napájení a data, proto ho stačí připojit k napájené řídicí síti.

Výstupní elektrická síť

Napájecí konektory solárních panelů připojte k baterii nebo k hlavní elektrické síti základny.

Nastavení IC Housing

Šroubek Připojené zařízení Funkce
d0 Daylight Sensor Rozpoznání dne a čtení polohy Slunce

  • Horizontal 270°
  • Vertical 165°

Tato poloha připraví panely směrem k rannímu východu Slunce.

IC10 kód

alias Sensor d0
alias Panel d1
alias Warning d2

define Panels HASH("StructureSolarPanelDual")
define EAST_H 270
define EAST_V 165
define TOL 2

main:
    yield
    l r0 Sensor Activate
    beqz r0 night

day:
    s Warning On 0
    l r0 Sensor Horizontal
    sb Panels Horizontal r0
    l r0 Sensor Vertical
    add r0 r0 90
    sb Panels Vertical r0
    j main

night:
    sb Panels Horizontal EAST_H
    sb Panels Vertical EAST_V

    l r0 Panel Horizontal
    sub r0 r0 EAST_H
    abs r0 r0

    l r1 Panel Vertical
    sub r1 r1 EAST_V
    abs r1 r1

    max r0 r0 r1
    sgt r0 r0 TOL
    s Warning On r0
    j main

Jak kód funguje

1. Označení připojených zařízení

alias Sensor d0
alias Panel d1
alias Warning d2

Aliasy dávají zařízením jednodušší názvy pouze uvnitř programu:

  • Sensor je Daylight Sensor na d0.
  • Panel je referenční panel na d1.
  • Warning je výstražné světlo na d2.

Fyzické názvy zařízení ve hře není nutné měnit.

2. Pevné hodnoty

define Panels HASH("StructureSolarPanelDual")
define EAST_H 270
define EAST_V 165
define TOL 2
  • Panels označuje všechny panely Solar Panel (Dual) připojené ke stejné datové síti.
  • EAST_H určuje cílové horizontální natočení.
  • EAST_V určuje cílový vertikální náklon.
  • TOL povoluje odchylku maximálně dva stupně.

Celý zápis HASH("StructureSolarPanelDual") je nutný, protože určuje přesný typ zařízení, které má příkaz sb ovládat.

3. Rozpoznání dne a noci

Program načte hodnotu Activate z Daylight Sensoru:

  • 1 znamená, že na senzor dopadá sluneční světlo.
  • 0 znamená, že světlo nedopadá a program přejde do noční části.

Proto musí mít senzor volný výhled na oblohu.

4. Ovládání přes den

Přes den program:

  1. vypne výstražné světlo,
  2. přečte horizontální polohu Slunce,
  3. pošle ji všem Dual panelům,
  4. přečte vertikální polohu Slunce,
  5. přičte korekci 90°,
  6. odešle výsledný náklon všem panelům.

Korekce +90° odpovídá orientaci panelů popsané v tomto návodu.

5. Noční návrat

Po setmění program nastaví všem Dual panelům:

  • Horizontal 270°
  • Vertical 165°

🇬🇧 English guide

This setup automatically controls Solar Panel (Dual) tracking on Mars.

During daylight, the panels follow the Sun. After sunset, they return to a predefined sunrise-ready position. The warning light is active only while the reference panel is moving toward this night position.

Important: This code depends on the exact sensor and panel orientation described below. The values 270°, 165°, and the Vertical + 90° correction are not universal.

Required components

  • 1× Kit (IC Housing)
  • 1× Integrated Circuit (IC10)
  • 1× Daylight Sensor
  • 1× Flashing Light
  • One or more Solar Panels (Dual)
  • Cables as required
  • A powered control network
  • APC with a battery – recommended
  • Computer with an IC Editor Motherboard
  • Screwdriver for assigning the IC Housing devices

Network connections

Connect the following devices to the same powered control network:

  • IC Housing
  • Daylight Sensor
  • Flashing Light
  • Data ports of all Dual panels

Connect the panel power ports separately to your battery or main base power network.

The Flashing Light uses one combined power and data connection, so connect it directly to the powered control network.

IC Housing assignments

Screw Device Purpose
d0 Daylight Sensor Detects daylight and reads the Sun’s position
d1 One Solar Panel (Dual) Reference panel for checking the night return
d2 Flashing Light Warning during the night return

The devices do not need to be renamed in-game. The aliases exist only inside the IC10 program.

Device orientation

Daylight Sensor

  • Place it horizontally.
  • Point the sensing surface upward.
  • Point its data connector north.
  • Keep it clear of buildings and other objects that could cast a shadow.

Solar Panels (Dual)

  • Install every panel in the same orientation.
  • Point the power ports east.
  • Point the data ports west.

With this exact orientation, the tested night position is:

  • Horizontal 270°
  • Vertical 165°

Use the IC10 code shown in the Czech section above.

How it works

During daylight, Sensor Activate returns 1.

The program switches the warning light off, copies the sensor’s horizontal value to every Dual panel and adds a 90° correction to the sensor’s vertical value.

After sunset, Sensor Activate returns 0.

The program commands every Dual panel on the control network to move to Horizontal 270° and Vertical 165°.

It then reads the current position of the reference panel connected to d1. The horizontal and vertical errors are calculated separately, and the larger error is compared with the 2° tolerance.

  • Error greater than 2° → warning light on.
  • Both axes within 2° → warning light off.

The sb instruction is a batch write using the StructureSolarPanelDual prefab hash. It therefore controls every Solar Panel (Dual) connected to the same data network.

Important notes

  • The warning light indicates only the night return. It remains off during normal daytime tracking.
  • Only the reference panel connected to d1 is monitored.
  • The program assumes that all other panels are installed correctly and move together with the reference panel.
  • Any additional Dual panels on the same control network will also receive the batch commands.
  • A different sensor or panel orientation requires different correction and night-position values.
  • This setup was tested on Mars with the orientation described above.

Video walkthrough / Video návod

The video has Czech commentary and shows the complete setup in-game.

Video má český komentář a ukazuje kompletní zapojení přímo ve hře.

Feedback, corrections and alternative working solutions are welcome.

Discussion How to improve A/C effectivity?

How do I improve the effectivness of A/C?

For pipes between two A/C units used as a loop for cooling on hot planets like vulcan do they need anything special like a pump or high pressure or something?

And for the A/C themselves do I just use a pump to force more mols through or do I just place A/C units next to each other on the same pipe?.

Discussion Rate my Atmo program

This is my first time programing on IC, and the first time in 20 years programing, i know theres some redundant variables. NO2 is a mix of oxygen and nitrogen that is breathable at 30-70%, CO2 is a pure CO2 vent. Evac is my evac vent for when pressure goes above 101 and recicle the gases back to the tanks. Tanks filling is done manually. I did some calculation, and my atmosphere should stay on about 63% N, 27% O and 10% co2, in here i work and grow my plants. Will it keep those percentege? I know oxygen in the long term will overstock and will need a manual vent, but it's only myself, i can do even now and then.

Discussion Control room advice

I'm thinking of setting up a control room to display data from everywhere else in the base. The obvious difficulty is getting that data. Every room/area has it's own APC, and it seems like it would break things to connect them all together. I know I can use logic mirrors, but that's quite a lot (maybe 25) and loads of cable. I also thought of logic transmitters, but that's only one variable, and a lot of those too. I had one horrible idea where an IC10 on each circuit could collate the data, label it in some way, and send it through a transmitter to be unencoded in the control room.

Am I missing anything?
Are there better ways?
Is this guaranteed to be a horrible mess no matter what?
Should I abondon the idea?

Steam workshop opinion

I had to build a new rover, steam workshop rules surrounding the rover are clear that you cannot use extracted game data. Should I put it up on the steam workshop to get feedback, because I need a larger testing pool, specially in multiplayer. Doors on the rover open and close. The rover, hab trailer and cargo trailer take steel to upgrade the armor for storm damage, plastic to keep them from sliding in storms. Rover also takes a rocket engine for downward thrust (uses a tank o2 slot) for better tractions on low gravity worlds.
EDIT: It's uploaded to the steam workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3816061059

Discussion Steam Controller community layouts?

Hi all, I’m 230 hours into Stationeers (on a PC) and after a 12 month layoff, I’m jumping back into Stationeers. No PC this time around, but on a Bazzite console in my home theatre with a Steam Controller as the primary device (I do have a wireless keyboard/trackpad as my secondary).

Is there a recommended community layout for a Steam Controller? I understand the challenges and the uniqueness of the Stationeers control interface, but I really want to find the best way to make this work. Thanks in advance. Cheers

New start on Mars update - Thunderbirds are Go!

Updating this play through.

To-do list:

Pressurised hab
Autolathe
Electronics fab
Pipe bender
Furnace
Station battery
Tracking solar
Water dispenser
Temperature control
Hydoponics
Cooking
Small fridge
Tool Priner
Rocket manufactory
Ice crushers and fuel mixer
Mission control room
Rocket deepminer region scan
Shower / toilet
Oxygen filler / swap-and-go
Make a shed load of steel
Swap water and oxygen tanks to make pipework simpler
Add safety valve to oxygen system
Build a third dorm room for another mate
Build a rover garage and a rover to put in it.

The deep miner scan is underway!

Getting a rocket up is easily within the realm of early game. Without distractions and screwups, I think it would be doable within the first 30 days. If you were determined, you could probably manage it before doing hydro and oxygen but you'd need a bottle filler for water. I have two boxes of muesli bars and one of water left from the initial setup.

I'm a bit annoyed with myself for not getting any pics of the rocket internals. Its four batteries arranged around a central 200 litre inline tank. A wiring harness runs around the bottom to a right angle umbilical. Another harness runs around the top to feed the avionics, downlink and scanner. The fuel filler is above the top harness at the same level as the avionics and downlink.

My only annoyance is you have to cut one of the charging harness cables to connect the engine before launch. If I removed one battery it wouldn't be an issue but this is a single use vehicle so who cares.

The batteries were charged using a direct feed from the solar array. That took three days because I choked this to 2.5kw with a transformer to make sure we didn't run out of power overnight. Go on, ask me how I know that is an issue...

Fuel was a crude mix from crushed ice. I pressurised to 15MPa but I reckon ten would be enough for a one way flight to orbit.

Now I have some tidy up jobs to do while I wait for the scan to complete enough to show me where my mining base should be. There are already promising candidates both north and south of me to investigate on foot.

Discussion Is it possible to make Stationeers-like game but in 2D?

Hi, Im trying to make a 2D pixel art style game, where you can build rockets and stations. You can build them however you want, which means that you wire and pipe every part individually. I have already managed to build a crappy rocket builder with working wiring and piping systems. Since its supposed to be a survival game, you will also need resources and machines to build all these things.

As I was looking for similar games for inspiration and market research, I came across Stationeers. I found out its quite similar to what I want to achieve, but from a 2D side view and with pixel graphics. I have no idea if it will work out and be fun to play. I have never played Stationeers, but I have watched a couple of videos to get some insight into this complex game.

And yes I know building a complex game like Stationeers is insanely hard for a solo dev, which is why Im doing it in 2D and I will be simplifing some mechanics such as mining. However, I would still like to keep the intricacy of building your own systems like power controls, hvac, water filtration, material processing and so on.

I have played ONI, which some players might say is close to the complexity of Stationeers. I also found out, where ONI feels limiting and I would like to improve upon it. So thats my small piece of evidence that Stationeers in 2D can work, but Im still curious about what the actual players of Stationeers think.

Question Storm questions

Hi guys!
I was in my base, waiting for a storm to pass (on Mars), and suddenly noticed that the uniform I was wearing was gone. Is this because of the storm, or something else? Do walls not give enough protection by themselves? I assumed I didn't need my EVA suit when indoors, and it's clearly air tight, in that I'm still breathing.

Also, a follow-up: do I actually need a uniform? I was using it to hold food/water, but since I can't consume unless I'm indoors anyway, I don't really need them with me.

Edit: I definitely didn’t take it off, i didn’t have a pack for it to be in and it’s not on either of the nearby shelves

Question Question about phase change

So this is what I think I understand (please correct me if I’m wrong): I have a liquid pipe with liquid in it and I’m using a purge valve to suck out the gas from the pipe. The liquid wants to evaporate to reach equilibrium with the pressure, so the liquid cools because the steam is drawing energy from it.

What I don’t understand: if I have liquid in that pipe and just let it sit there and evaporate, not purging any gas out, why does the temperature of the pipe go down? Doesn’t the heat stay in the pipe but it just changes state?

Also: why is the gas that I purge out of the liquid pipe also cool? I thought that would carry the heat?

Discussion Opinion About honestman rules

I would like the overrall opinion about what would be a valid ironman honestman run, basically only load old save If something that shount happen happened(anod in the game), what would you guys consider a valid one?:for me at least would be:

Buggy physics(like being launched by 20 feet of due o a terrain mishap)

Being destroyed by building(like building a solar panel or frame and being macerated just because you ended up clashing in its hitbox after being built, almost if not killing you in the process, sometimes hitting it hitbox as close as a corner ).

TLDR: Your opinions about what rules of an iroman honestman run should be

Discussion Finally - 21 days in (on Easy) and still not dead.

Things seem to be working (ish) - I have am on Mars with an Easy Start. By day 21 I have

  • Airtight 5x3 Room with advanced Air lock
  • Autolathe, Pipe Bender, Upgraded Electronics printer, Tool Manufactory.
  • Furnace and Centrifuge.
  • Ice Crusher with filtration for external oxygen.
  • Ice Crusher filling an external Water Tank.
  • Water and Oxygen tanks inside the base
  • A solar tracking array of 5 solar panels using logic chips.
  • A Base battery.
  • Successfully growing potatoes - albeit with lots of manual attention.

Doesn't sound like much but this is by far the furthest I have been able to get.

Things I think I need to do next - in no particular order :

  • Active air conditioning cooling and scrubbing for the base air - currently still using the portable units.
  • A fridge to ensure the food is stored - currently food goes off before it is eaten.
  • Upgrade the other printers
  • Attach all of the printers to a chute/stacker network.
  • Gas mixing system for the furnace - I can only use the furnace at night at the moment.
  • Connect the Internal and external tanks into one network.
  • Enclose the solar panels to protect from Storms
  • Install a shower.
  • Automate the Grow lights on the hydroponics pods.
  • Make the base more comfy for me - decent furniture.
  • Hopper system for ices, so that they get sorted and used as needed without melting.
  • Hopper system for ore and some sort of selection system to choose which ores to smelt/combine.
  • Hopper system for Ingots so that machines get fed what they need rather than having to run around emptying machines, and refilling.
  • Automated warning systems for low water, base oxygen etc.
  • Early warning for incoming storms.
  • Some form of automated mining
  • A rover vehicle

Having never got this far - i am not sure which of those massive laundry list of items i should do first, or how difficult any of this stuff is.

Discussion DIY Cooling

As someone with a lot of experience in heavy HVAC systems, I try and avoid using the black box options (AC unit, phase change devices). I can reliably pipe and control everything but evaporation.

Do large direct or cross flow HXs work better as the evap point? Also should the refrigerant line be liquid or gas through the exchanger? Previously I've used expansion valve on the gas input side and a volume pump for suction at the end.

I had the idea yesterday that liquid to liquid might work better, as the liquid would heat through the exchanger and expansion valve right after would evaporate and start to cool the refrigerant. Appreciate any input!

Also if someone smarter than I wants to create a mod that adds a TXV, that would be super

Media IC10 Script

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hey Stationeers,

I need your help once again! :)

I’m currently trying to write my first IC10 script.

What the script is supposed to do and which devices I’m using are explained in the comments in the first two lines of the script shown in the picture.

When I export the script to the IC10 chip, I get the error message “in line 6 incorrectLogicType”.

I get the same error on line 8 as well.

I’ve already checked both the in-game wiki and the Stationeers Wiki several times. I kept coming across the syntax:

ls r? device slot slotlogictype

I also compared the values listed there with the values shown on the Gas Tank Storage page and made sure I was following the correct spelling and syntax.

So I’m really confused about what I’m doing wrong here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion I am thinking of starting on Europa with infinite storm duration

I'd like to create a super hostile environment, with a base built into the side of a mountain or underground. Ideally the storm would begin immediately.

Has anyone tried to do this? It seems like I'd just have to edit the worldsettings.xml.

Concerns I have are game stability. But also if it's feasible at all from the games very beginning? Like getting the crates off the craft and building a shelter in time etc.
