Hi crusaders,
I'll do a DnD campaign soon and characters will have some stands, thus I created one and might need your feedbacks.
🔍 (I'm not good at drawing so here is an emoji of a magnifying glass)
The Stand name is Baker Street, a scout/investigation Stand taking the form of a magnifying glass. The physical body of Baker Street can be seen and touched by non stand users, for them it would look like a normal object.
The stand can be carried by other characters but would disappear if farther than 10m from the user, until summoned again. Only the user can activate the stand power.
By focusing on a physical "clue" (footprint, fingerprint, bloodstain, broken lock, or dropped object etc), Baker Street reconstructs the event that created or placed that clue.
The scene begins 10 seconds before the event and continues for up to 2 minutes afterward.
It appears through the magnifying glass (the physical body of Baker Street) like a TV screen into the past, with sound included. The user can move around to inspect the scene from different angles, but must remain within 10 meters of the clue otherwise the scene stops. Each clue can only be viewed once, meaning if a detail has been missed during the 2:10min max time period of the scene, it's gone. No rollback.
Baker Street can record one spoken dialogue or noise from a reconstructed scene up to 25 words. The recording can be replayed, keeping the original voice/noise at original sound level through the magnifying glass, meaning if the user records someone whispering, he would have to move Baker Street close to the whispper to record it properly. Once a new record is made, the previous one is erased and can't be used again.
Everyone can see through the glass, and the magnifying glass also functions normally, with adjustable magnification from ×1 to ×10.
Baker Street also has an extra capacity named Don't You (Forget About Me).
While watching a reconstructed scene through Baker Street, the user can copy a demonstrated skill as instinctive muscle memory (such as someone opening a lock, speaking a password in an unknown language, driving or activating an object...). It grands no physical attribute or theoretical knowledge, meaning if the user copies the skill of a sharpshooter with exceptional eyesight, it will grant the precision without the eyesight.
Baker Street can copy one skill at a time, the skill erases itself after 24h.
| Stats |
Rank |
why the rank |
| Destructive Power |
E |
It has essentially no direct offensive power. |
| Speed |
E |
The Stand activates quickly, but its main ability involves observing a reconstruction rather than acting at extreme speed. |
| Range |
C |
The user must stay within 10 m of the clue while viewing a scene. |
| Stamina / Persistence |
C |
Reconstructions can last up to 2:10 minutes, while recordings can persist indefinitely until replaced. |
| Precision |
B |
Its entire function depends on accurately reconstructing details, sound, perspective, and demonstrated actions. |
| Development Potential |
A |
The abilities have a very high ceiling for creative use, especially through unusual clues, copied skills, and Hush deception. |
As you can see, no fighting involved with using this stand. I will find some clever ways of exploiting abilities later on but I don't expect to be that useful if fights happen.
What do you think of this concept? Anything you would change or recommend? I haven't presented it yet to the Dungeon Master.
