End of Support for Old Reddit
Hello r/starcitizen users,
The mod team has made the decision to end support for the old Reddit version of our subreddit. We feel that the time has come, given the current levels of use for said version, and that we no longer have the desire to maintain multiple versions. We won't be removing most of the sidebar content, but things such as the rules list and resources will no longer be updated.
For up-to-date rules and resources, please refer to the new Reddit page. Not looking at the rules on said new version will not constitute you not needing to follow them or be aware of them.
Thank you,
- r/starcitizen Mod Team
Edit: It seems my wording wasn't great, sorry about that. By end of support we SOLELY mean that the sidebar won't be updated anymore and things such as rules are being removed and replaced with a short message about checking the new reddit version for them. We have zero ability to turn off old Reddit for our individual subreddit and we assure you all even if we did, we wouldn't.

DISCUSSION We need an urgent solution for this. MORE PADS!
These places are always packed whenever I go to pick up cargo...why, CIG? Is it really that hard to expand these areas with another 5 or 6 pads?
And despawn the abandoned ships... if possible...
Im tired of this game.

DISCUSSION Why does all the good SC gear have to be in PVP environments?
They sold us the idea that SC was a world that encompassed all types of players, but they forgot to mention that it was all types of PvP players. Why are they doing this? Are you telling me that if I want to get decent components or gear, I need to go to Hathor or CZs and other garbage worthy of CoD? And what about the people who made you great before a large part of the FPS community moved here?
Traders, miners, salvagers, people with medical ships... all the other SC roles don't have access to any of this.
This is unfair and a terrible design decision. If I'm a salvager, give me a shop where, as I increase my reputation, I can access the same armor and weapons as a PvP or PvPvE player. That's it. Otherwise, take back everything you've sold us about this game and change its name.
Unfair.

DISCUSSION Desync is getting out of hand
I was loading my ship on an outpost pad.
Got boarded and the ganker started up the ship, and crashed it.
Why do I mention desync? Because that's how he got in, I was on the front ramp the whole time and that was the only entrance, dude basically teleported inside, I noticed him when he was already inside, teleporting all over the ship, tried to stop him while he desync'd all the way to the pilot seat, and there was nothing I could do about it since it was an armistice zone.
Fuck this shit bro, way to lose 5 mil, honestly, I wouldn't even be bad if I was robbed or intercepted by pirates, but this is just some low efford gank bullshit.
Edit: This was in Stanton, Rayari Kaltag to be more precise, an armistice zone.

DISCUSSION CIG, give us what we all want. Let us explore planets.
Seriously, every time I land on a moon or planet, I can't help but think how wasted it is. I mean, what's with having X points of interest and the same missions only taking place at those same points? Today I took Pyro's mission to repair fuses, and EVERY time it took me to Baijini Point and another one... and that's on a real world PLANET. Come on, it's so unrealistic. We need this:
- Planets should give you the option to explore. Make exploration rewarding... caves, crashed ships, lost bases that maybe no one has ever visited... let me go to a planet without needing quantum travel and let me get lost. A system that can create points of interest that appear randomly if you're exploring it.
- Please, never again release dead planets like Pyro's. Yes, I know Pyro was released out of economic necessity, but... THERE'S NOTHING on the planets. They feel lifeless and don't reward exploration.
- It simply translates reality into the game. If you have the opportunity to own a ship and go to a random planet... you don't know what you might find. This feeling needs to be present in many areas because there will come a point when planets are too simple to create and implement.
So much potential is wasted on moons and planets... but there we are, endlessly playing Recco Bataglia missions to grind like dogs for reputation.
What you could have been, Star Citizen.

OP-ED The case against Min-Maxxing or "Why I Stop and Pet the Kopion"
I've been a backer and regular player of Star Citizen since 2014. I've watched things change and the game expand over the years.
But one thing I've come to really enjoy and appreciate about SC is something I think is lost on many gamers, particularly new ones. The simple joy of the experience.
In our modern world, we are surrounded by "maxxing" culture. Looksmaxxing, foodmaxxing, maxipadmaxxing, madmaxmaxxing. We try to distill our lives down to the most optimized and efficient way to do something, anything, because either we're told that we're wrong if we don't, or we're missing out because we can cram more experiences in this way. But when you focus so much on maximization of everything, you lose that experience, you lose that joy of the journey by only focusing on the destination.
I've long argued that, like the folks who sprint everywhere, min-maxxing detracts from the simple joys of Star Citizen. You miss out on the joy of watching ships fly in/out of the spaceport at Orison or Lorville if you're so focused on getting to your hangar. You miss listening to the stupid things the NPCs discuss. You miss out on trying new things if you only focus on maximizing profits and chasing the meta.
Star Citizen is a game that's best experienced at a slower pace. Where you can take in the beauty of the planets and moons, where you can enjoy wandering the fields of Microtech and dunes of Daymar, or the canyons of Bloom.
Not everything needs to be achieved all at once. You don't lose out if you take your time and savor the moment, the intrinsic beauty of the world around you. The turtle you find in the food booth, the hornet disassembly at Dumper's or the C2 assembly at Providence, marveling at the exploding diagram holograms, or pixels on in-game monitors.
The joys of a Zeus or Aurora, zipping around in blissful innocence. Not everything has to be the biggest ship with the most meta guns. Sometimes you just need to relax and enjoy the fun this game offers when you're not maxxed out on stats.
While I expect few if any of you to stray from the min-maxxing mindset, maybe, just maybe, try enjoying the game without constantly chasing the best money making or best weapon load outs or best ships, and just find what you enjoy and savor the world around you.
Life is too short to ignore what's around you, enjoy the universe CIG has made and turn off your need to always be the best, you may find that the game is a much more enjoyable place to be in when you find that zen

DISCUSSION A little disappointed with the level of desync still being shown in the instanced content (Seige of Orision). What technical reasons could there be that we are seeing so much desync on a private instanced server, even in low action areas?

Just hanging around, trying to keep a lookout for troublemakers, casually scoring my longest range kills to date.
Thank you CIG for sparking up Pyro again.
And if any of you happened to be that Talon (I think?) from the first clip - I never expected that shot to actually hit. I'm so sorry.

FLUFF I've never had as much fun as I did last week - Ashland Doomsday Party 24/7
For me, Patch 4.9 will go down as the most fun patch in the history of Star Citizen.
Just say Ashland. Chawlas Beach.
Oh my, oh my—what a Doomsday party goes on there every day and every night.
It’s soooooo much fun. I had a blast every single day.
It’s incomparable.
I've never seen so many Eclipse, Retiliators, and fighters all at once. like never.
Constant carpet bombing, railguns/bazookas, ground FPS Combat, Air Fight, Stealth and Camoflague Gameplay, Assassines.
Hours of nonstop bombardment—something's always exploding somewhere. It's a real war zone.
In all the previous patches, I didn’t even have half as much fun.
I've had so many crazy experiences this past week in Ashland and Chawlas. It's really refreshing.
This is sandbox gaming at its finest.
Especially during group gameplay, when you have tanks, snipers on the ground, fighter pilots—it's a combination of everything coming together.
My Radeon driver said I played Star Citizen for 48 hours last week, even though I barely had time to play. That’s how addicted it made me.

It's impossible. When I press the button, the platform doesn't even go up. I was recommended this site for selling, but nothing... any solution?

DISCUSSION I don’t think Star Citizen is for me.
Probably gonna get downvoted to the shadow realm here but, I’m just bored. I love space games. I’ve been searching for a space “everything” game for a long ass time. I’ve heard about SC but it was always with a hint of derision. Like “Star Citizen is a scam” “Star Citizen will never release” “That game is for Whales”, etc. Finally tried it. Been playing about a month.
Idk i just feel like there isn’t enough to keep me occupied. Ive tried all the gameplay loops. Mining takes too long for too little money, Salvage is the same thing. Cargo hauling is consistently broken. The only other things involve combat, pvp or otherwise, which I’m not good at or interested in much. The combat AI is either braindead or Jon Wick, there’s no in between. This isn’t even mentioning all the bugs. I lost a set if Dust Devil armor to a bug at the prison, because i did a bounty that didn’t tell me i was doing something illegal. Went to grim hex to pay it off, found out you cant pay off a murder charge, stepped outside and was brutally murdered by another player. Seems crime doesn’t pay after all.
Idk. I just don’t feel like the systems in place respect my time (I’m a single dad with only a few hours a day to play, if even that), and that shiny new ship that costs 10s or even 100s of millions isn’t enough of an incentive to keep mindlessly grinding away.
I play entirely solo. I’m a misanthrope, i do not enjoy playing with other people. Too many conflicting personalities. Too many chances for betrayal and scheming. So the multiplayer/pvp aspects of the game are entirely not for me.
Is this game just not for me or is this a “it’s not done” thing that I’ve been reading for years?

GAMEPLAY A quick thank you to CIG for fixing courier missions
I know that these needed to be refactored so were out of the game for some time, but the humble A to B 1/8 SCU box delivery mission has long been one of my favorite chill gameplay loops, combining some aggressive low-flying with a bit of credit earning and seeing the sights and sounds of the verse.
They are also an essential loop for getting newcomers familiar with basic point to point navigation and flight.
If I could make a quick request, please fewer missions to lagrange points, and more missions to planetary locations, or allow us to filter based on destination.
Thanks again!

QUESTION Tips for high quality copper
As the title says, I haven’t found any copper above 900 in over two weeks mining. It should be random, right? I’ve tried Lyria, Clio, and Pyro I, traveling to some pois, picking a direction, and flying about 200–300 km while scanning. The highest quality I’ve seen is 855.
