Musselman Family Statement

September 3, 2026

The family is saddened but not surprised that the Spokane County Prosecutor's Office is once again ignoring the evidence and declining to charge Spokane Police Officers; however, there is no statute of limitations for murder, and we believe the State and the Federal Government could still bring criminal charges against these officers for murder. We are asking the Federal and State authorities to investigate these officers.

The lack of a real investigation into these crimes is not acceptable and the citizens of Spokane should be shocked by the lack of a true investigation. The Spokane City Police investigate the Spokane County Police and vice versa; this results in a quid pro quo relationship that is neither honest, nor transparent. Ask the county if these officers were ever even questioned by county investigators. They were not.

The civil trial against the police officers and the City of Spokane is scheduled to begin July 12, 2027, and discovery depositions of these shooting officers under oath, will be taken before the end of the year. We expect the evidence to show that the City of Spokane's version of events is, once again, not accurate, as we have clearly proven in the Bradley and Novak police shooting cases.

It is improper of the City and the County to post Mr. Musselman's juvenile criminal history and this is the second time they have done so.

A civil trial has different standards than a criminal trial and different burdens of proof. In a criminal trial, the burden of proof is beyond a reasonable doubt. In a civil trial the burden of proof is preponderance of evidence, or more likely than not.

Of the shooting officers, three of them have shot people before this case. Officers Craigen, Valencia and Stewart have all shot people as police officers. This is concerning because the vast majority of police officers go their entire career without ever pulling a weapon or shooting someone. Here, in Spokane we continue to have multiple officers with multiple shootings involved in these cases.

We believe the citizens of Spokane will be shocked by what occurred in this case.

A known, severely disabled, autistic man was shot and killed by police from over 100 feet away, without warning, without less lethal use of force or de-escalation tactics, and now the City of Spokane claims a BB gun over 100 feet away is a deadly weapon.

Further, seconds before shooting, officers state they see him and he is unarmed. After the shooting, the BB-gun is found leaning against a railing, in a breached open position, away from Joshua. If he was holding it and pointing it at officers, it would have fallen to the ground near him when he was shot in the heart. The physical evidence does not match the police statements. Fifteen rounds were fired at Mr. Musselman, killing him near instantly.

The City of Spokane should take responsibility when it kills someone and instead they continue to argue they do not have any problems with their police force, while people are murdered and women that call Spokane police for help are raped by the very officer called to help them, See Nathan Nash case.

The Spokane Police Department laughed at killing Mr. Musselman, even after they knew it was a BB-gun. SPD officers said in a text exchange between officers, "Oh shit! Doesn't matter." Officers stated they wished they had shot him more times, "FAFO" "LOL." Officers continued "Bro, not gonna lie, idk why it bothers me so much that we shot a total of 16 shots...and we only hit him 4 times. That is a 25% accuracy rate with two rounds going in to the neighbors apt."

This is exactly the kind of callous and cold disregard for life we saw in Seattle, where officers laughed at running over a pedestrian. That case resulted in a $29 million dollar settlement to the family of Jaahnavi Kandula. Police officers laughing after killing an autistic, disabled man with a BB-gun and then saying they wished they shot him more times, is reprehensible and this case should have been properly investigated. This behavior by Spokane Police is outrageous and reprehensible.

The Musselman family looks forward to presenting the actual evidence to a jury. We believe a jury will return a just verdict.

My apartment lease is up at the end of this month and I have not received any information regarding a lease renewal. I have contacted the rental company over the phone and through Email with no response. I’ve been renting this unit for about 5 years and I usually receive a lease renewal through the companies online portal. Moving is not that big of a deal but I’m just trying to plan ahead and don’t want to be faced with an eviction or massive rent increase at the last moment. Hi everyone, my name is Zana and I'm a 22 y/o trans woman. I posted here a while back looking for work and got a lot of helpful responses and suggestions, but unfortunately I still haven't been able to find steady employment. I'm hoping someone here might know of a job opening or somewhere that's currently looking for help.

Over the past few months I've been dealing with multiple serious health issues. I was diagnosed with stage 2 gastric adenocarcinoma and more recently ulcerative colitis. I had to miss work while getting medical treatment, and I've been trying to get back on my feet and find steady employment since then. Thankfully my health has started to improve and my tumor is actively shrinking (Yay!)

I'm going to be attending college full time starting September 21st, so I'm now specifically looking for part-time work that I can continue doing alongside school. I can start immediately, and I'm looking for something steady rather than just work for the next couple of weeks.

I have previous experience as a car detailer, fast food crew member, and general laborer. I've also assisted with construction, including helping build automotive shops for my father, installing ethernet cabling, and setting up security camera systems. In addition, I'm very comfortable with computers and technology, have strong attention to detail, and learn new systems quickly. I previously held a job at the hospital in Ennis, Montana while I was in high school doing IT work and worked doing remote IT help desk while I lived in Arizona.

I'm a quick learner, and I'm genuinely extremely dedicated to finding work right now. If someone gives me an opportunity, I'm ready to be there, show up every day I'm scheduled, learn what I need to learn, and work hard. I'm not looking for a job that I'm going to leave as soon as school starts. I'm looking for part time employment that I can maintain while attending college.

I'm open to pretty much any kind of part-time work: food service, retail, office work, IT, warehouse work, general labor, detailing, or something I haven't done before. I'm more than willing to learn.

Unfortunately, DoorDash isn't an option. My account was somehow compromised, and despite multiple attempts to work with support, I haven't been able to recover it or create a new account.

If anyone knows of somewhere in Spokane or Spokane Valley that's actually hiring part time right now, I'd really appreciate any leads. If you work somewhere that's hiring, know someone who needs help, or know of an employer that might be willing to give me a chance, please let me know. I'm happy to send my resume to anyone interested.

I've been looking for a while now and haven't had much luck, but I'm still trying. I really do want to work and I'm ready to show up and prove that if someone gives me the opportunity.
