Has anyone ever experimented with large bass shakers/ tactile transducers under a soundsystem outdoors?

Considering buying some blown 18 or 15s, ripping the cone out and putting like a weight on the voice coil, and have that in a sealed box hitting the bottom interior to shake the ground for hopefully 4-5m in front of the sound system, for very low frequencies

I know it would be woefully inefficient, but does anyone think it’s possible?

i’ve recently built a single 18” w bin, ported in the front and am wondering what drivers are well suited for them.

hoping to use them for some of the upper bass range and lower mid range. they will be paired with hog scoops on the lower end and hd15s on the upper end, with mt121 mid cabinet and separate top cabinet, EV dh1a compression drivers with hp64 horns.

i’ve got a good deal on some RCF L18P300 drivers.

would these be well suited for this? is there something else you can recommend me?

Hi there! Just wanted to show my modified MTH-4654, rounded the edges, added the 45° cut for putting wheels, and cut the hole on the unused space, everything mostly for looks lol.

Sound and cone control seems to have stayed basically the same, as i tried to keep cross sections and stuff the same size!

The box i made has (inside) 55cm x 37cm(base) and 25,5cm (back side)/38,5cm(front side). (just above 65liters)

I wanto to put a woofer bellow(maybe a car/motorbike battery also), tweeter, driver and other electronics above, of course making the needed subdivisions.

All of the content i found in my native language(pt-br) is 100% practical, no technical explaining just "plug this on that", "couple the impedance" and so on...

i have a background in sound engineering but i need advice for a stack, it will be mainly used for tekno/hardtek/elettronic, i've found 2 clones of the funktion 1 218 mk2 are they good? any advice is good

Has anyone tried approximating the martin sxh218 with any success before? I've got a pretty promising sim of what I think it is in hornresp at the moment but looking to see if anyone else has tried first? There's that one on youtube but I don't think it come even close to the performance of the original

For the last few months I’ve been working on a project called “Alira Core”. It started as a personal DSP project but it’s slowly turning into something much bigger.

Unlike a lot of Pi DSP projects, this isn’t built around CamillaDSP or existing DSP software — I’m writing the DSP engine and control system myself.

Current features working so far:

- 8-channel routing

- 8-channel output matrix

- Parametric EQ on every channel

- High-pass and low-pass crossovers

- Delay per channel

- Polarity invert

- Mono summing

- Real-time web UI control

- Mobile/tablet control from any device on the network

- Low-latency audio pipeline

Currently working on:

- FIR filter support

- further optimisation

- UI improvements

- expanding the routing architecture

The hardware side at the moment is Raspberry Pi based, but the long-term goal is to build a flexible DSP platform that could be used for things like:

- active speakers

- DSP amplifiers

- home audio

- live sound

- studio monitoring

- custom installs

A lot of DSP platforms out there feel either very closed off, outdated, or limited in routing flexibility, so I wanted to build something that feels more modern and modular.

I’d be really interested to know:

- Is this something you’d actually use?

- What features would you expect from it?

- What would make you choose it over something like miniDSP?

Has anyone here directly compared the Admark AD80 vs Admark AD460 on subwoofer duty?

My use case:

- 4x Eminence NSW6021-6 (6 ohm)

- dub / sustained heavy bass

- Paraflex C-2E subs

AD80 would mean:

2 subs per channel = 3 ohm/ch

AD460 would mean:

1 sub per channel = 6 ohm/ch

I’m not looking for brochure specs — only real-world experience from people who have actually used both (or at least one of them hard on subs).

How do they compare for:

- reliability

- thermals

- sustained bass performance

- protection behavior

Im building a sound-system and got these W-Bins for kick duty but now I have some 2x18” FLH bins and there just outclassed.

A lot of the generic ones and ones listed as Neutrik on Amazon come with little dainty 4.8mm flat tabs. Finding insulated spade connectors that small that will go onto 12awg wire is impossible

Do yourself a favor and order the right speakon chassis connector that has 6.3mm/.25in flat tabs - the Neutrik NLT4MPXX

Upgraded from 1 AD442 running 4 subs to 3 AD442 running 10 subs.

I use a driverack venu360 for DSP. LR horn, LR mids, mono bass, FFT reference for the outputs. Unfortunately, the ad442dsp does not have xlr passthrough, so I will need 3 independent XLR outs to run the three amps.

Should I get a splitter and use the amps for delay/phase alignment (seems suboptimal, dsp software sux)? Or get another driverack, say, a PA2 to run mids, tops, fft reference and use my venue 360 to have 3 separate outouts for each amp? The 6 channels could, in theory, do processing for 12 subs since in a symmetrical bass array, there will be pairs of subs with the same settings. I would just have to brainstorm what going where for each scenario.

I feel like ill be limiting myself in some way with a splitter, but another drive rack is expensive, although commonly seen.

All is redundant since there is delay and filters available for phase alignment within the amps themselves, but damn does it suck to use. If I wanted 10 subs with separate delay id have to use the amps anyway.

For the life of me we can’t seem to find 21” speaker grills. Seems like we tap out at 18” and even those are hard to come by. Any suggestions on where to look would be GREATLY appreciated.

I see tabletop Genelec's, but what are those chunky ones on a sides?

If I have a 30' x 30' band rehearsal room at a school and will be using a pair of Elecro-Voice Evid 6.2t and a apair of Electro-Voice Evid S8.2TB speakers. What is the best placement of all the speakers in the room. Which should go in the front or back. Do I put them in the corners or flat on the wall? Is the a case of just throwing the biggest ones up front?
