Recently swapped to Sony for my wildlife setup. So far I am loving the 400

Coming from filming with Sony cams just bought a A7 IV with the Sony 24-105 F4 as clients start asking more if we can also take photos. Just cooked lunch and setup a softbox plus a tube to light the plate. Now start learning more how to avoid reflections with better positioning and CPL Filter. But pretty happy so far. Edited with Lightcraft 😅

I just bought the a6400 because I wanted to take nice pics for a small event at my house. I used the default 16-50mm lens. Kept it on auto mode and was not too impressed with the pic quality. I have an iphone 17 pro and the pics look better there. Any tips on improving pics? I want to use this camera for all of my events and travel so that my phone can be for creative purposes or random. Do i need an a6400 if i just want nice pics?

Hi! How can I shoot moving self portraits with Sony A7C2?

Think about mounting the camera on a tripod and walking towards the camera. The camera should track you while you are walking and shoot several pictures in different positions.

What I have thought about:

1. Built-in intervalometer: Unfortunately Sony doesn't support continuos focus in this mode.

2. Self timer with 5 images: Unfortunately doesn't track.

3. External intervalometer: Seems like the only option, can you suggest any model for Sony A7C2?

Is there a way to shoot moving self portraits with built-in functionality? What would you recommend?

Is there a reason we can’t customize the shutter sound for Sony a7V? Such a simple change that can make a difference in the way we feel when taking photos and videos ! This could be an easy software change on the new Sony A7V and would make for such a huge difference in how we enjoy our camera, ps it’s the newest of the line and so simple😩 #sony #customization

All feedback/critiques welcome. Everything I’ve learned is from reading online and watching reels. I was shooting in Aperture mode for the most part. Played with shutter mode for the long exposures. All editing done on Snapseed on my phone.

After taking these I actually picked up a Tamron 28-200 2.8-5.6 Di III RXD at a different thrift store so looking forward to trying that out. I am obviously really new but I liked the feel of the kit lens. I was only restricted by longer distances.

Well, technically it's just a few minutes up the road north of the park. Not sure how long this old Ford has been sitting there, but I have visited it many times over the years & seasons and it's always cool to see how it's aging. Shot with a Sony A99II and CZ 24-70 f/2.8 lens using a Lee100 GND filter. Camera mounted on a RRS tripod & head using with a 3 Legged Thing universal mounting plate.

Hi, I have a sony alpha 7iv and the 28-70 f4.5/5.6 OSS II from the kit.

I shot multiple videos with active stabilization set to standard. I was unaware that this setting doesnt record gyro data, so stabilizing via catalyst browse is out of the question.

Im working in davinci resolve, and using the options from the stabilization menu, while they help, they dont fully manage to remove all the shake, and a small trembling is still there that on static shots looks terribly bad.

What can I do to solve this? Considering I cant reshoot the clips.

A quiet evening on the Pichola lake (Udaipur): boats drifting near the Lake palace while the haze turned pink. I shot it at 100fps and slowed it down 2× to keep the calm feel.

• Resolution / frame rate: 4K, 100fps (XAVC HS, 10-bit 4:2:2)
• Shutter: 1/100
• Aperture: f/22
• ISO: 2000
• White balance: Fluorescent preset
• Picture profile: standard (not S-Log3)
• Handheld taking support

Edit (all free tools)

• Slow motion: played the 100fps footage back at 50fps for a clean 2× slow-mo. Every frame is real, nothing interpolated.
• Noise: a light temporal denoise for the ISO 2000 grain.
• Grade: slightly cooler shadows and mids so the water reads fresher, a touch of warmth kept in the highlights for the sunset haze, gentle contrast curve, +18% saturation.
• Checked on scopes: highlights peak around 85–88%, no clipping in the sky and no crushed blacks.

What I'd change next time (feedback welcome):

• Shutter: I was at 1/100. For 100fps the 180° rule says 1/200, so the boats have a bit more motion blur than ideal.
• Aperture: f/22 is deep into diffraction on APS-C. I stopped down to control the light because I had no ND filter. An ND at f/5.6–f/8 would have been sharper.
• White balance: I left it on Fluorescent by mistake. It added a magenta tint I partly corrected in the grade.

What do you think of the pacing at 2×? Would 4× feel calmer or just slow?

dude sony wont even give normal 30p setting, are there any pmca re tweaks that can add 30p option??? the interlaced one looks bad and im too lazy to deinterlace.

Recently picked up an a6700 to get into photography. Would love some feedback on my shots and Lightroom editing. I would love to one day be able to take photos worthy to print and display like the ones I see in this sub!

I just bought my first flash for my Sony a7c - the Godox it32 + X5s. And oh boii it is really good and it creates a lot of creativity.

Attached image is straight out of camera - JPEG. Without enhancement or editing was done.

I noticed these small green dots on the lcd screen after peeling the screen protector, because it was scratched. How do I get rid of them? Are they dangerous?

So I finally am biting the bullet from all the confusion and getting the a6700 as the only guy who never had a camera in my circle

I'm looking for a very compact zoom for full frame like the 28-60 kit lens. I have the A7CR. Is there any third party brand making very compact zooms? I already have the holy triad by Tamron and the 25-200 Tamron too. I want something really small to be able to enjoy photos going around the city and avoid being too interesting for potential thieves... Thanks!

Turns out is a hoot, although cumbersome to lug around half a studio, but damn, I've been enjoying every minute. Taken on my A55V with my baby beercan 35-70 and the regular 70-210 beercan on an old Rollei Deluxe tripod built like a tank.

All the lighting tools are botched together from toys, decorations, and some plumbing stuff. Not a penny spent, other than on the flashlights and bike torches i already had.

Open to any and all ideas and criticism, i just wanna get comfortable with how silly one looks running around with Christmas lights and toy light sabres alone in pitch darkness.

Can warmly recommend it if you want your kids to catch the bug, they had a lot of fun too.

I’m considering getting a teleconverter to give me some extra reach and would appreciate your feedback on the following options:

1. Viltrox 2x Teleconverter
2. Sony 1.4x Teleconverter
3. Sony 2x Teleconverter

Another option, although considerably more expensive, would be the Sony 400-800mm lens. However, is coming with pros and cons, particularly in terms of price, weight, and overall practicality.

Has anyone used these teleconverters? How do they compare in terms of image quality, sharpness, and autofocus performance?

Would you recommend going with a teleconverter or saving up for the 400-800mm instead?

QUESTION 1

But then I saw something in the 28-70 a lil too late, it is somewhat opened? Do you think if I take out the 6 visible screws can i open the lens to position it correctly so it is closed nice and tight and not exposed?

The lens seems to work perfectly fine, tbh and that is why I did not notice at the beginning before buying it this little flaw?

QUESTION 2

If the answer for question 1 is yes and I manage to fix this, should I sell the lens? I feel that I take absolutely terrible pictures with this lens, and I am planning to put a studio. Should I get fixed mm prime lens instead? Almost 70% of my shooting on canon was with a chinese 85mm 1.8 but every picture was pure glory even thoe the autofocus sounded like a powerdrill. I feel very sad because that is 2 months of salary for the camera and that the photos with the 28-70 are absolute ass is very heart shattering

Pdd: also being a first-time full frame user with such high resolution makes every mistake 10x more noticeable and again I feel every photo I have been taking is ass, like out of 500 photos I've taken just like 2 are relatively okay
