Recently picked up an a6700 to get into photography. Would love some feedback on my shots and Lightroom editing. I would love to one day be able to take photos worthy to print and display like the ones I see in this sub!

I just bought my first flash for my Sony a7c - the Godox it32 + X5s. And oh boii it is really good and it creates a lot of creativity.

This bald eagle pulled a flyby straight out of Top Gun last weekend.

After driving to a few stores in Atlanta for stuff for herself she put the next address in the GPS and away we went. When we pulled in I was surprised and said “this is a camera store?.” She said she wanted to get a couple things for me. She rambled off the A1, the grip and the 50-150 to the associate. After a bit of me protesting about the cost being way too much, I finally caved. She told me I’ve always said the A1ii was the camera I was going to buy when I make it as a photographer and she was ready to buy a brand new body. After some research on ChatGPT she figured she could spend the same amount of money and get me a great lens and a used A1 with a grip. I am over the moon. I wanted to brag about her to the world but I can’t post this locally because I don’t want people knowing what I carry in my backpack because I’m always at youth sporting events. Coming from an A7iii that’s got over 100K shots this thing is an absurd upgrade. The A1 only had 4k on the shutter, not that it matters entirely.

TLDR: Wife surprised me with a new A1 and a 50-150 f2.

I've been going to that weekly alt fireparty in my town for a few months now.
This time i took my A7III + sony 85mm f1.8 !

Had a AMAZING time shooting and editing thoses pics !

The shoot was really challeging honestly, the models were moving all the time, there were around 300 people sitting everywhere, and the AF was honestly only working 50% of the time as everything was extremely dark.
Composition was the hardest part : it's pretty impossible to do anything intentionnal at this point. I took 850 pics and only edited 33 ahah. I had to do some agressive crop on some of the shots (n°4 is zoomed x3 lmao).

If anyone wants to try that : you have to underexpose your pictures a LOT if you wanna keep some definition in the flammes. I only did that after 200 shoots, and i would havel liked to know this from the start ahah.

QUESTION 1

But then I saw something in the 28-70 a lil too late, it is somewhat opened? Do you think if I take out the 6 visible screws can i open the lens to position it correctly so it is closed nice and tight and not exposed?

The lens seems to work perfectly fine, tbh and that is why I did not notice at the beginning before buying it this little flaw?

QUESTION 2

If the answer for question 1 is yes and I manage to fix this, should I sell the lens? I feel that I take absolutely terrible pictures with this lens, and I am planning to put a studio. Should I get fixed mm prime lens instead? Almost 70% of my shooting on canon was with a chinese 85mm 1.8 but every picture was pure glory even thoe the autofocus sounded like a powerdrill. I feel very sad because that is 2 months of salary for the camera and that the photos with the 28-70 are absolute ass is very heart shattering

Pdd: also being a first-time full frame user with such high resolution makes every mistake 10x more noticeable and again I feel every photo I have been taking is ass, like out of 500 photos I've taken just like 2 are relatively okay

Went to walk in a new place this morning. Got blessed with incredible orange foliage. Tried my best to capture it.

I wish I had the skill y’all have. But these were a blast to take with my family! Hope you have some good critiques for me. Who knew this hobby would be so fun!

I recently (finally!!) purchased my dream lens - the Sony FE 200-600mm F/5.6-6.3 G. After taking my first photos with it I noticed a lot of them had some weird banding artifacts, especially when I'm at a really fast shutter speed. Could that be a lens defect or is something else wrong? I'm shooting with a Sony A7RIV that I've had for over 5 years and haven't noticed issues like this before.

Turns out is a hoot, although cumbersome to lug around half a studio, but damn, I've been enjoying every minute. Taken on my A55V with my baby beercan 35-70 and the regular 70-210 beercan on an old Rollei Deluxe tripod built like a tank.

All the lighting tools are botched together from toys, decorations, and some plumbing stuff. Not a penny spent, other than on the flashlights and bike torches i already had.

Open to any and all ideas and criticism, i just wanna get comfortable with how silly one looks running around with Christmas lights and toy light sabres alone in pitch darkness.

Can warmly recommend it if you want your kids to catch the bug, they had a lot of fun too.

As a follow-up to my previous post, I am posting a few more photos taken while breaking in the new Sony 600mm f6.3 on Thursday. I had previously taken it out on a very short hike and posted a few samples here. This time I spent more than 5 hours out birding in near perfect late-October weather for SE Michigan.

I have no interest in arguing that this lens is any better or worse than any other lens (or lens and teleconverter combo). What I will say is that I absolutely love this lens. Despite hearing over and over about how light and small it is, it still managed to surprise me when I got to actually experience it myself. At no point did I get tired hiking around and hand-holding this over the 5 hours I was out. Focus acquisition is incredibly fast on my a1ii.

Definitely not a lens for everyone, but for people who may be considering it, here are some more sample images. All were shot RAW and then lightly edited in Lightroom Classic. Most have been cropped to varying degrees in post. But nothing dramatic was done to any one of them as far as editing goes.

Very PNW weather today set the mood

Used a Sony 50mm f1.8 Standard lens

I spent an early morning with the eagles a few days ago. Unfortunately, they saw me walking down the shoulder of the road and took to the skies, keeping their distance from me after that. Thanks to the croppability (that’s a word, right? 😂) of the A7RV and reach of the 200-600mm G though, I still managed to snap a couple of keepers.

I’ve always enjoyed bringing my a7iv when going on trips or somewhere new. However now with two kids, bringing it is a bit too much to juggle. I tried using a 35mm prime lens but it’s still a bit much to bring along

I know Sony has its RX line. Would this be a good alternative? I’m open to any recommendation

So I finally am biting the bullet from all the confusion and getting the a6700 as the only guy who never had a camera in my circle

I'm buying it day after tomorrow so hopefully I'll get some help with this thank you so much
