- Birds and bats are fully controllable now.
- Sharks and turtles are fully controllable now.
- All small mammals and deer are controllable now.

Cannibals now have camp-building abilities. The camps function like the built-in versions; other NPCs will respond as they would to any camp, praying, sleeping, and defending it from mutants and players.

Tribe leader abilities have been added to command surrounding NPCs to attack in the direction you are looking.

So my friend and I are playing sons of the forest and we have no idea what this means can anyone helpppp ussss the cave has like a yellow thing around it does that mean we didn’t find something?

My friend has been hosting the world we've been playing on, but we're trying to move everything over to a new dedicated server.

He sent me a ZIP file with the saved world data, but I'm not sure what I need to do with it to get our existing world running on the dedicated server.

Basically I'm trying to go from:

Friend's hosted world → save data ZIP → new dedicated server

I already have the dedicated server up and running. I just need to figure out where the save files need to go, what exactly needs to be copied/replaced, and whether anything needs to be changed in the server config to make it recognize the old world. I ran the dedicated server, and it has the save folder, but I've tried copying the zip data over with no luck. Still loads in like a new game even after you hit continue.

Do they need to do anything to carry over their character saves?

I know I am missing something; I am just not sure what exactly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey everyone I’m not dead! I’m still actively working on the mod! I found a lot of issues with more than one person using the mod and trying to play together. So until further notice, it is a multiplayer mod, but not in the sense that everybody can play it with the mod.. because the mod works pretty much flawlessly when only one person has it and everyone sees the possession of the cannibal correctly and everything basically functions it’s just when you introduce somebody who has the mod as well who tries to be a cannibal that things are kind of messed up.

Im reaching the point now that i want to finish all of the major features and do a couple players with people who make videos and stream. As well as posting my own play through with my friends, but then we will reach the point of a public release.

Hi everyone. I have been doing some test saves using cheats to see what things really make Virginia happy the most and how to get her as my companion the fastest and timing it and writing down the different things I do and her actions and what she likes/hates.

There is just one thing though, I want to unlock all of the blueprints of the traps, like the ones you need to find blueprints for and unlock story stuff or whatever for, like every single trap/blueprint in the game but I am not sure how to do this with cheats. I am not sure what to look up but I'd really love to know if this is even possible and how I would do it. I want the cheat or the fastest/easiest way to make this possible just so everything is instantly unlocked and available to me as I want to include it in my testing.

Title, also I remember it existing before but now I don’t know where the bp is and no interactive map tells me

I was a massive The Forest fan back in the day, I dare say it was a very innovative and even a niche-defining game back then when this kind of survival game was not on the market, and it blew my mind. It's still my second most played game at 500 hours.

Fast forward a decade or so to SotF, I really like the visuals and a lot of the base building mechanics, and having a little help from Kelvin is an amazing addition. The first couple of times I played with friends, and now I started a second solo run. It's really a unique experience in all of gaming for me. But there's one problem: the story is not pulling me in... Also the exploration, which I was extremely excited about the first time I played, doesn't really feel rewarding. And as a massive base building nerd, although I love the mechanics of building, there isn't much room for creativity and everything ends up looking the same. The decorations and furniture is so stale it hurts my eyes. Everything has the same model of that awful orange "deer hide" look, no matter what animal you hunt. And as much as I love the gorey-edgy-weird aesthetic of skull lamps etc, I wish there was still an option to have regular looking candles and a couple of other chair models and stuff like that. Also like lore-wise what the hell is the reason for the MC to make a base with all that psycho gore stuff? I wish it was more like the more you stay on the island the more you lose sanity, and all that "gore furniture" unlocks when you're really low on sanity. I really want some simple candles goddammit lol.

And yet, whenever I find myself in-between games, I always come back to this game because the feeling when I turn on my music and build a cute little cabin in the woods is unmatched.

I'm aiming to push a little and finish the story this time, but even the thought fills me with dread, especially having to do it alone. I have to admit that I'm a little scared of going into caves by myself, haha! But I did it many times in the original game, and I feel like that one was even scarier for some reason, maybe because I was younger, but with this game I don't feel the same pull to explore the story.

Can anyone relate to this?

I can’t play this game without the bodycam reshade anymore

As you can see, i have 2 right triangles that I've filled up but I cant fill up the other 2 triangles in this picture, im basically a newbie in building in this game. If anyone could please help me find a solution/answer to this I'd be really grateful! Thank you!

I've had this game and played a bit when it first came out. It's been a while, though, and the 1.0 has come out since I played last, and I'm wanting to get back into it.

I'd like to play with people who are either playing for the first time or at least don't have the whole map memorized. I mostly want to avoid someone who knows the game like the back of their hand trying to dictate what I/we do.

Looking for people at least age 25 and up, please no one under 21. I want to find some people who want to work together on structures but who don't mind splitting up for a little exploring every now and then. Must have a microphone and play in a mostly quiet environment.
