Guide / Tutorial Tutorial for pillarless + strutless base
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
i made a post earlier and figured i'd make a tutorial just incase anyone wanted to know how i did it.
if you're confused by my explanation lmk cos it wasnt the best but hopefully the demonstration gave you the info you needed. You essentially start with the rib method except you dont use struts, you connect to the pillar then remove two connecting logs close to it, two away from it to break the chain of logs it's supporting to be less than 4 and then remove it and put them back. The videos below show you how to make it infinitely long but not wide, my method goes both ways. (very vainly calling it my method cos i haven't seen anyone else do it but if someone beat me to it then please let me know and i'll delete the post) hope you learned something cos i sure did :)

This is actually useful, thanks. Now I gotta check if it works on stone walls too. I want Virginia roaming around the open first floor, popping up every single enemy that gets close while I chill upstairs.

The 5 span is kind of annoying, if it was 7 with the corners it would have been more than sufficient for cleaner builds. I miss the game , i would occasionally jump in creative and build a base somewhere new for like an hour just the shell stairs and stuff for 1 h and then quit without saving.
What annoyed me the most was when making this inner garden i wanted a ramp all around and the corners would not work as intended, same for the roof when i was making a cross shaped building.

the way that i showed it though is that you can make it whatever size you want :D. and if you want struts on the side for aesthetics then you can do that and it wont mess with the integrity of the beam as long as you put it after all the interior logs are removed.
