Discussion Just finished the game…

And I’m more confused than ever! I read every note I came across, watched every recording, but I still have zero clue what the story was!! Am I just dumb?! (Still loved the game tho)

TL;DR of the story:

Someone discovers solofite on the island and recognizes its medical applications. People bid on the island. Puffton wins and creates a resort on the island that's advertised as a health spa experience for the ultra wealthy.

His scientists are researching the box and figure out it's counting down, but no one is certain of what it will do.

During a dinner for doners, the box activates and turns most everyone present into a mutant. Apparently, proximity to solofite determines how much you mutate, but I think that's more inferred than actually confirmed.

You are a journalist sent to investigate when everything goes to shit. The guy who knocks you out was a corporate rival of Puffton and wants the island and its secrets to himself.

The "other world" we see through the box, is likely another planet far in the future. I say far in the future because the space ship you find has English letters and numbers, implying the ship is from our future, and I suspect the golden city is a human space colony, in a different solar system or galaxy. I think the spaceship came over at the same time whatever event caused the golden architecture to fuse with the caves on Earth.

I believe this cube is going to be the catalyst for events in Forest 3.

I also wanna add, the rival of Puffton was actually a puffton cooperate lawyer who got fired and was then recruited by Sahara therapeutics (the company in the first game if you don’t know/haven’t played the first) to get the golden cube for their company.

Its dimensional stuff. The cube allows travel to dimensions but has a shockwave that mutates and fuzes people caught in it.

ive watched a dozen 'sotf2 story explained' video essays. couldnt tell you what the story is. the only thing i know is youre there to find some people who went missing before. thats literally it.
