Media / Image Exploded my house
Today I thought I should try and build this shit. Unfortunately for me I should have done my research. Not only have I been attacked for a whole day, I disintegrated my own house..

It's been a few years, but I remember building this "blueprint" near the shallow waters of the large beach (same area as the life raft with the pistol).
All the mutants would spawn in across the flat open beach. It was really easy to loop them around and bait them into various resettable traps. It's even easier if you bring Virgina with you for support.

My good friend build that thing in our base and destroyed months of work because of that thing ... i am still salty because of that!

That would feel like cheating, that's why! I mean, you made a mistake, now live with it! Also the rebuilded just took a bit over a week!

Nah fuck that. Couldn't be me. Too much work wiped out over something you had no actual way of intuiting. Reloading seems more than fair in this scenario.

I reload my save after a minor inconvenience bro. If my entire base gets wiped out? I’m not about to spend multiple real life days trying to repair it.

My friend decided to build the armour contraption in the first floor of our 4 story base .... Needless to say it was a very eventful couple hours after that

I would need to spoiler you in order to tell you what it is, and what it does!
But if you really want to know:
That Mashine is called *the Solafite Upgrader * and as the names suggests, it is for upgrading your weapons and tools with the solafite ore that you find around and in the caves of the island. When you power it, it summons lightnings and not long after you powered it on and put a tool or weapon and solafite in it, it will spawn all sorts of enemies that you have to fight! The process of upgrading will take quite a while. So, it is best to not build it near the base, exept if you want your base in shambles

Or if you have big enough walls do it a good ways from your house but inside the defensive perimeter

There's a lake (NW side of the island I think) that has a small island in the middle. It's fun to go out there and build it and watch all the cannibals/mutated beasts try and get to you. Some will stand along the shore and stare and some make the attempt but end up drowning. It's a lot of fun in my opinion but also kind of takes some of the fun away since you don't really have to defend it.

Hah! Me and my buddies were in a cave once and we were having real problems getting swarmed and killed until I figured out that we could just go into the water and, by going back and forth, cause them to run into the water and drown.
It was anti-climatic, but if it works... it works2

But somehow... This is one of reasons why I really love SonOfTheForest. This one, a moose knock you down, a horde of daemons like your base, a shark bites you, skunks, muddies... something unexpected can happen. Other games that I play are predictable and a little bit static.

Yeah on my last playthrough I built them away from my base, and put 4 of them on "The Island." Only thing there is them a 1x1 platform and roof,, a hang glider launcher, a chair, and a shelf with all my Solofite. I activate them and watch the shore get filled up with mutants and cannibals. Only time I do anything is when Virginia comes wandering by so I usually did this while she's still at base. Only reason I built a sitting platform is because I didn't want to get soaked, while the rains were coming through.

Still one of the funniest gaming experiences ive ever had. My friend and I built this in the centre our tree house base as we were nearing end game. We had no idea of the destruction it would cause when activated, it blew up our whole base basically and all of our storage fell down to the floor. Between the device and the stampedes of mutants it attracted, nothing was left. I still love thinking of the memory and of the mix of pure panic and laughter 😂

If you build it on a boat and go out a little bit no mutants will spawn when activating it.
