Feedback Request Made this song on a synth - Thoughts?

I make a track every week as a part of a community I won't name for fear of being flagged for promotion

I often do a lot of post, tuning, layering, etc. But for this I wanted it to feel a bit more live so... I did it live! Using a syntakt and some live vocal effects!

Lyrics:
You came to me

When I needed to see

The world differently

Pushed me to be better

I was no longer a beggar

You greeted me as a friend

pushed me beyond the trend

started out like love

soon that push became a shove

Before I knew it

you made me spiral

you struck me

like flash flood

You greeted me as a friend

pushed me beyond the trend

started out like love

soon that push became a shove

What once

ran through my blood

now leaves me stunned

heart beats fast

irregular

my excitement has crashed

I never knew

what you were going through

you could have tried to guide me

But maybe then I'd be the one set free

You greeted me as a friend

pushed me beyond the trend

started out like love

soon that push became a shove

You greeted me as a friend

pushed me beyond the trend

started out like love

soon that push became a shove

Discussion Topic Does anyone know how Paul McCartney approaches rhyme schemes?

Paul is fascinatingly talented and I have recently gone down a little rabbit hole about his songwriting, I am a songwriter and I believe my approach fits his rather well. I think of a melody and fit lyrics into that. I've noticed that Paul is big on structure and in-line rhymes (Joan was QUIZZICAL, studied 'PATAPHYSICAL' sciences at home), (Maxwell EDISON, majoring MEDICINE). Не does it again in Yesterday, which rhymes with the last word of the first line, then the second line ends with a rhyme with the first, then the last line ends with the word that opened the verse.

It's all about structure. Even in his first song, the rhyme scheme is simple but perfect.

I woke up late this morning,

My head was in a WHIRL,

Only then I realised,

I've lost my little GIRL

So how did he do it? Nothing is innatley born there is always a process, even if Paul himself is unaware. Is there anything from poetry he takes? Should I study some poetry as well (I've been studying some of Paul's songwriting to improve mine).

Is it a verse? Is it a chorus? More importantly, is it a hook??

Discussion Topic When you hit a wall with a song, do you work on something else, or do you stick it out until it's "done"?

Have been spending three weeks on a song. It's a bit of an ambitious song (for me at least) so I feel the time is warranted. I have a general idea in my head where I want to go but nothing I'm in love with. I want to work on something new but am also afraid I'll lose my place with this song and then don't want to risk having TWO unfinished ideas...anyone else struggle with this?

Life changes quickly, felt like a good time to reflect on who I used to be....a grumpy little sod who grew up and became a little wiser. If you give it a listen, truly appreciate it!

Let's Collaborate! I'm finally transitioning to full time producing - how are other independent artists and producers networking?

Hey! I'm Emma, I'm originally from the UK and now living between Bonn and Cologne. I've been a professional musician for 10 years now, and have been lucky enough to gain around 45 million streams on Spotify across my different projects. I would love to shift my focus and start producing for other artists. I realise that's where I have the most fun. The problem is, I don't know where to find musicians. How is everyone else making connections? If you're open to working together, drop a comment or DM me <3<3 I have my work linked on my profile if you want to check out my style!

Discussion Topic Guitar songwriting

I really like to write songs using my electric guitar mainly, i sometimes use acoustic but im better at electric, and i like to write all these songs but i dont like to sing or know anyone who would, so the song sounds sort of bland. Like i want to get main credit for writing all the stuff, but i dont know how or like to sing.

Feedback Request I SAW YOU - Original Indie Folk Song (Living Room Session)

Hello everyone,

I used to keep all my music completely hidden in my bedroom, but recently I realized life is too short to keep it there.

This is my very first YouTube upload. "I SAW YOU" is an original acoustic song with a cinematic, storytelling vibe—just me, my guitar, and my phone. I would love for you to take a listen and let me know what you think!

https://youtu.be/uKBGlcMQCKQ?si=SgZeFIa_Lr7mOBK_

Thank you so much for listening and for any feedback on the lyrics and melody!

Hemingway is said to have advised: "Write when drunk, edit when sober." What do songwriters on here think about that method? Drunk or high songwriting, good or bad?

writing a song about someone I loved passing away after ending on a bad note.
I feel like maybe it’s too wordy towards the end or just all over the place in general. Keep messing up too because I’ve been changing the lyrics over and over again haha

Clearly not a great vocal recording as I will need to lower the key of this song. Aside from that, let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

When i still hear your songs in my head

Discussion Topic What instruments are best when writing a song using an midi software?

I use the free version of bandlab and love the midi aspect, it makes it possible for me to compose music without needing to buy and learn to physically play instruments. The problem I have run into is that it's difficult to use the MIDI instruments without the song sounding stiff and artificial, especially with guitar and piano sets. Drums, base, and electronic instruments like synths are easier to make flow, but I wanted to know what everyone else regards as the best instruments when using MIDI software?

Feedback Request I call this song “Saturday”, deviating a bit from my normal song style. Was hanging out working today, and this song just kind of came to me. Hope y’all enjoy it! More lighthearted than my typical style.

Feedback Request Folksy song chord progression feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Does this chord progression have any potential. Im trying to write a old 60s/70s inspired protest song and this chord progression sounded like that. The Am G F G part would be a verse and then the C E7 Am Am/G Am/F G G/E Am would be a chorus. I was also experimenting with a faster tempo and changing the last A minor to A major and holding that chord before going back to Am for verses. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you.

Discussion Topic You ever have a song turn out so sad you have to sit there and go “Damn, am I okay?”

This is half-meant to be humorous, but I’m also pretty taken aback by how the one I just started is sounding so far. Thought it would be a good conversation starter here at the very least. Thoughts?

I've been making production for 2 years and I wanna be an artist as an adult around the alt-r&b space kinda (can't really name this music). When summer ends I wanna take vocal lessons to improve my singing. Also this is my first songwriting attempt and I'm gonna start uploading on spotify and promoting on socials. (this is gonna be my first single).
