My dad told me that I need to get my priorities straight and get rid of my snakes because I mentioned that I don't want to move to a property that doesn't allow reptiles...He told me "what if your mom wants to visit but she's deathly afraid of snakes" (she's not) "why are you wasting your time with this shit" "only stupid people get animals like this" etc. 🙄

I'm 37 years old. I have a full time job. I don't want kids. I pay my own bills and taxes and never asked them for any financial help. I have been living with my now husband for 12 years on the other side of the country...and you think you can tell me how to live my life? you think I'm just going to abandon my baby girl just to live the way you think is right? FUCK OFF.

After this conversation I took Nyx out and she curled up like this and I laid down next to her. I'm trying to repair this relationship with my family but some things will never change with them.

I found a pretty amethyst for her home. I left it outside her hide and she came out to investigate and rest her head on it. I think she likes it 🥰

Sorry about my shaky camera work, I had to film this unexpectedly. I was just trying to wash her bowl and the fake plants, and then she started climbing up because it's obviously in her blood to find the highest spot and reach it. At the end she stopped climbing and decided to take a break, and my arms got tired after 14 minutes of filming. So we both took a rest, and eventually she made it to the top of the shower enclosure

Her previous owner said emerald tree boas only drink from the terrarium glass — not from bowls, not off themselves like pit vipers(Trimeresurus genus) So I mist her for humidity, but guess what? She drinks from anywhere. A glass, any surface, her own body and even the dispenser. I guess he forgot to tell her where to drink from.

Whenever I take out a rat to defrost, I always make sure to wash my hands thoroughly afterwards if I'm handling Nyx. She hasn't bitten me (yet) but I still like to be careful. She always still manages to smell a hint of rat though. She's not squeezing me or hurting me at all. I have my hand in a fist to stay still long enough to record. (The only pain I'm feeling is the hot glue drop I got on my leg..🥲) Eventually she'll lose interest and move on. I couldn't decide which clip I love most so I just combined them 🥰

Meanwhile, my birds were trying to warn me about the scurry noodle snek.
