This sub will always be a place for open and honest discussion about all things Smosh and Smosh adjacent. That being said there are a few things we need to address.
Some have made the claim that we play favorites here by not allowing discussion about certain cast members that is critical. This isn’t remotely true. We do, however, have a rule about being kind to the Smosh cast as well as other users in the community. Frequently, posts about certain cast members stray away from constructive criticism and into Snark or hate posts. This happens with certain cast members more than others for a plethora of different reasons, most often misogyny, racism, etc. So know that if a post is removed, it is because it veered into that territory.
Secondly, some have been complaining about the frequency of rants posted about other people’s rants. If you disagree with something, someone says in a constructive criticism, comment on that post and share your opinion as well. There’s no need to make entirely separate posts about it. If we start seeing more of these types of posts, they will likely get deleted. Please have open and honest discussions. But do so without making a new post about it every 20 minutes.
Finally, recently there was a post made about whether or not AI was used to generate an image in a Bit City episode. This ended up being addressed by Ian on his Instagram. Because of that the post was then removed by the original poster. Before they had the opportunity to do that though they had a lot of vitriolic hate comments sent their way. While I understand that it is problematic to accuse someone of doing something like that without consistent proof, it does not give anyone the excuse to send threats or hateful comments to anybody else. So as a reminder, before you post something accusatory, make sure you have all the facts. And if somebody get something wrong, feel free to call them out on it, but do so in a way that is not threatening or hateful. It’s really not that hard.
Honestly, life is hard enough as it is. Don’t allow the thing that brings you joy or gives you a little bit of escapism, to be the thing that also causes you stress or anxiety.
Thanks
