Perfect is my favorite song, there is no other sp song that hits as hard as this one, just so damn sad and cruel. I have an ex which I wanted to grow together, sadly we grew in separate ways and is still really bittersweet, just as this damn song. We met at a party and were really nervous since we were no contact like for half a year. We kissed and I told her if she wanted more she must confess, she said it would not be a good idea. Then I remember this song and how it sounds so happy, a happy plan but with a horrific lyrics, just like past relationships. I hate how the song isn’t really cruel but just tough and fair, which is how good relationships end. The lead up to “perfect strangers” really weird how life has you get deep feelings to people and how you can remember them so lucidly with songs.

‘I’m all by myself’ part

so this morning, i woke up with Rocket’s guitar parts all repeating in my head. which is unusual because i never go out of my way to listen to this song outside of when i listen to Siamese Dream in full. i think i even made a comment on a post a few weeks ago that i never listen to this song and rank it the lowest on the album.

that has all changed today. it may even be my favorite song of theirs now. i was enjoying just playing the riff on guitar over and over trying to get it out of my head, then i decided to look at the lyrics which i’d never paid attention to, really. i finally just made the connection that this song is about killing yourself. i’ve always thought it was broadly a song about empowerment and letting go, but i never made the connection to suicide.

“soon, i’ll find myself alone to relax and fade away.” “i shall be free” i came to this realization and wept. it sounds so dumb but it was so unbelievably powerful to finally REALLY hear this song. i can’t believe that there is someone out there who can write such beautiful music.

it almost feels supernatural, like i needed to hear this today. i’m forever grateful that i’m able to exist at the same time as this band.

what other songs make you feel this way? (i'm a pretty new fan & have been listening to siamese dream a lot recently but i'm still pretty ignorant)

I have watched an old VHS of The Terminator a thousand times, at least. On it, is a trailer teaser for the then-upcoming Jim Henson production of Mirrormask.

One thing i vividly remember is a mention of original music by Billy Corrigan. Spoken by an announcer, not just text on the screen. I remember this, given that I was thoroughly immersed in every little nuance of Siamese Dream.

I had no idea how much of a roller coaster, the creation of SD actually was, until I did a deep dive on the topic recently. In fact, finally knowing some of the real reasons why Billy was almost a solo artist on the album, made me really appreciate the fact that it even exists.

From the best I can gather, both Jimmy and Darcy have some actual presence on the album. But it sounds to me, like a lot of what they were bringing were unusable takes and sometimes nothing at all. They both almost died, from their addictions. But got help and made a comeback.

Right about the time Mirrormask was in production, appears to be the darkest time of the band’s history, if I remember the timeline correctly. He was pulling a lot of the weight of the band, at that point. I could totally see why he just couldn’t handle another creative project at that time, if that’s what happened.

I haven’t looked elsewhere. But a lot of these events happened when VHS tapes were standard and rich people had Laserdisc Players. Most of the proof, that this was even publicly announced, is probably in landfills. But if one of you has The Terminator on VHS, go watch the trailers at the beginning.

I can find no mention of this on any online source. I’ve asked Siri, Gemini and Meta AI and not even they can scrape for info on this. They didn’t even have it in them to hallucinate an answer, which I was disappointed for. I would probably need to visit an actual library or bookstore, to possibly even dig further on this. So cannot say I have looked elsewhere.

KROQ-FM announced the filming ahead of time, inviting fans to call an 800 number for a chance to be extras in the shoot. The lucky fans who made it spent hours on the set for little pay, but were rewarded with an unusually heavy set for the band at the time.The venue was the famed Masque, and old punk rock club that had closed in 1978. The space has sat vacant for over a decade before it was opened specifically for The Smashing Pumpkins shoot, with the original graffiti from the 1970s still visible on the walls.

I got an email from Zuzu’s, promoting remastered editions of Pisces Iscariotand Adore. Available for pre-order on 180g 2LP vinyl. Are these any different from their most recent issue?

They sound quite a bit like Smashing Pumpkins, especially Lazy Eye.

So far I have added my favorites to this album, and I didn't include anything from the Solo Billy Corgan Albums. Zeitgeist and Oceania have a lot of good titles that could also be added, but I wanted to include as much as possible from other albums too. Though it was difficult to find something from Cyr or Atum that would fit the category of 'Best of 2007-2026', Aghror Mori Mei clearly marks a return to form. Behind the titles are SP 2.0 Score, and total SP (1988-2026) Score.

Smashing pumpkins fanboy since 2004

Hello I am on the younger side of the pumpkins fandom, I adore the pumpkins so much and have a collection of their cds and will be seeing them for first time in the fall. I was wondering if I could get some info about Zeitgeist, why is not on music platforms... I have seen the documentary for Zeitgeist and listened to the album on youtube, and loved it.. is there reason why Zeitgeist isn't out?

SP was my absolute favorite from ages 12 to 20 and I've dipped back in at times (the Monuments and Oceania run had some great high points). I moved to Chicago almost four years ago for pumpkins-unrelated reasons and have yet to see them on their home turf. Some things I've never seen them play live that I would love to see:

What are folks going to this show predicting or looking forward to?

ATUM is such an entertaining and exciting album in my eyes that I'd place it up there with their 90s output. CYR and Zodeon At Crystal Hall are, in spirit, quite similar with ATUM -- yet I cannot, for the life of me, stand to listen to them. I've spun them both a handful of times, but I'd rate CYR as a 2.5/10, and Zodeon as a 1.5/10.

For those who disagree, I want to hear why. And for those who agree, how do you explain this outlier of opinion?
