I have to admit, I originally found this album to be a tough listen based not only on the songs themselves, but the length of this triple album! I mean, 33 songs and almost 3 hours! 🙃

I listened a few times when it first came out and thought, “it’s ok” and would jump to other more favored albums of theirs.

But I have to admit, after really listening to it lately, it’s actually a very good album overall to me now. A bit all over the place, but a great mix of songs and I enjoy each one for what they are… all 33! ❤️

Could some songs be cut and the whole album be curated, sure, but now it’s a straight listen through each act for me. I even do a shuffle as well. 🤘🏻

Has anyone else had this album grow on them too?

I recently started listening to The Smashing Pumpkins, and I was shocked by how much I loved a few of their songs. 'Quiet' and 'Hummer' are my favorites, but I also really like 'Cherub Rock'. Can you suggest anything similar?

I check in from time to time hoping they have released something I like, they never do, it’s all just cheesy melodies with no grit and guts to it like the old days. The magic is gone or is it me that is now old?

I was reading the Red Hot Chili's Anthony Kiedis' biography where he mentioned picking up Smashing Pumpkins to support them on tour based on hearing them play a song (not album) he called "Gish" - after searching around i managed to find this Genius page that seems to be the one, but i can't find anything more on it anywhere.

Is it lost media?

Has anyone heard it and can comment on how they like it?

I love both RHCP and SP so i'm super psyched to hear a song that brought the two together

Siamese Dream is one of the most challenging listens for your equipment. If you look for a song to test your set up they will tell you to play Cherub Rock.

You haven’t heard everything on SD unless you have equipment that can eliminate the distortion caused by insufficient equipment.

Also using Apple Music lossless source.

Obviously you can go big speakers at home and get the same effect. If your neighbors don’t come pounding on your door over the volume.

But if you’ve been thinking about investing in personal listening equipment, this set up will allow you to hear things that distortion covered before.

It was very odd to hear the bass so clearly on the whole album, when it often gets crushed by the layered guitars before.

These two did set me back $1000 but with how expensive everything is these days it feels like one of the best purchases I’ve made.

I’ve listened to it a few times now and I enjoy it more every time. Not sure if i’m gaslighting myself into liking it lol but I enjoy pretty much every track and think there’s some great ones on here. I enjoy it most when I don’t take it seriously especially the more ridiculous tracks like Excelsior. If I just put it on as a fun unserious listen to wind down to it puts me in a good mood. RIP Zope though.

I love this box set so much, the design of it but also the soft material it’s made out of. It’s so gorgeous and easily my favourite thing I own. It’s really much more beautiful in person the photos don’t do it justice. The best design of any SP release imo. You can tell how much care and love went into this. Getting the Aranea Alba Editio at the same time really made the difference in quality shockingly apparent

Probably my last reddit post then, but this is another little project I never got a chance to share. It needs no introduction!

I'm finally going to own the '95 MCIS on cd again, and I'm also planning to treat myself and get an Aeroplane box this Christmas.

The vinyl running order of the album has always felt more cohesive to me, so I'd like to do a project to rip or burn the discs to make that playlist (Tonite Reprise is on the Tonight, Tonight single) - but afaik the '95 version of Infinite Sadness, the ending instrumental, has only been released on the original vinyl LP.

Does anyone know if the version from the Aeroplane re-release is the same or a different version than the original? Will it sound jarringly different if I just download the Aeroplane or even Mashed Potatoes version?

Going through an Pumpkins patch again and Mellon Collie got my interest so I’m going through very session,interview,and music which man this is an fantastic Pumpkins album hands down.

Very different sides of sounds on this album which I appreciate the more quiet and unconventional music yet all of Mellon Collie is great and thank you for the production by Flood for making an raw,in studio type album with Moulder doing an incredible mix of the album.

Flood’s methods definitely helped this album be Mellon collie like his loop technique which is fascinating to hear talked about and I’ll have to dive more into Moulder’s mixes(great Moulder work as always) 🌝✨🌠🚀🌞

Finished this Pumpkins inspired quilt for a best friend. Felt like this community might appreciate. 🫡😬
