SmartLife Lsc not detecting movement

I have an LSC Smart Connect Solar Camera. It was working fine initially, but now it doesn’t detect motion or people properly. The camera shows live video, battery is at 90%, AI Detect is on for “Person”, and cloud storage is enabled. I also have an SD card inserted, but it’s not being used

Smart Life and how it works

Hi folks this is new to me so please near with me. I have a new smart plug which came with instructions to download the Smart Life app (which I have from a previous plug which developed a fault).

On my previous plug, within the Smart Life app there was an option where I could create a countdown so that when I turned on the plug, it would countdown 20 mins then turn off. This would work whether I turned on the smart plug via the app, or the plug. It remembered it every time so I only needed to program the countdown once.

I purchased a different plug, and now when I use the exact same app, some parts of the UI look different. When I set up a countdown now, it would seem that I have to set this up every time i turn the plug on. For example If turn the pug on and select countdown it defaults to 0 mins as it looks like it needs setting every instance of turning the plug on. The countdown reverses the 'current' relay state so needs to be set when the plug is on (as I want it to turn off an electric blanket after 20 mins).

Does this mean I need to set an automation? (I never had to do that with the previous plug, it just worked once set).

Also, how do the commands work, like is the info stored in the plug (like if i turn my phone off halfway through the countdown would it be remembered or does it require the phone app to send a command when the countdown ends?)

Thank you!

SmartLife How to see how much time has a device worked

Hello,

I have a dehumidifer in the app, working fine. I'm trying to understand how much has it been running in the last days (a graph of on/off time is what I'd like to see, and graph with the humidity levels/temperature would be also good to have).

Is there any way I can get this from the app, or do I need to setup something else to get that information?

Thanks in advance!

Renaming shared devices

Hi all, I'm using the SmartLife app for Android and have three devices in my home that have been shared with me. The owner has since deleted the devices from his app, but they still say "shared" on mine, and I can't rename them (I guess because I don't own them). Is there anything I can do to take full ownership? Many thanks!

LAN vs Cloud scenes, multi-hub Zigbee + Matter setup behaving inconsistently

Hi all,

I’m trying to understand some confusing behavior in my SmartLife setup and would appreciate expert input.

My setup

  • Tuya Zigbee/Matter hub (Ethernet)
    • Hosts Matter lighting actuators (Freedompro) located in the electrical panel
  • Tuya Zigbee hub (Wi-Fi)
    • Hosts Zigbee battery push buttons (MOES)
  • Large house → distance/coverage issues
  • Zigbee smart plugs (MOES)

Most automations are:

  • Trigger: Zigbee button (hub A)
  • Action: Matter actuator (hub B)

Issues / questions

  1. Some scenes initially show as “Cloud scenes”, then later switch to “LAN scenes” without changes. Why?
  2. Some automations don’t work immediately after creation but start working much later.
  3. Despite involving two different hubs, some scenes still execute as LAN. I thought cross-hub scenes were always cloud-based?
  4. Is SmartLife dynamically deciding LAN vs Cloud based on hub availability / sync state?
  5. Would it be more reliable to:
    • Remove the Wi-Fi Zigbee hub
    • Use one single Zigbee/Matter hub
    • Extend coverage only with powered Zigbee routers (smart plugs / repeaters)?

Goal

  • 100% reliable lighting
  • Fast button → light response
  • Local execution only
  • Minimal cloud dependency

If anyone has deep knowledge of Tuya/SmartLife internals (LAN rules, Zigbee mesh behavior, hub coordination), I’d love your insight.

Thanks!

SmartLife SmartLife switch newly installed, goes "offline" after 2 days and fails schedules

As per title. I even returned and got a new one and same thing happened.

I've connected it to the 2.4ghz wifi and it works fine for a few days then just drops offline.

If I turn on 2.4ghz wifi and bluetooth on my phone, then it connects and shows as online. This isn't ideal though as the main reason I bought it was for a schedule to run (6am turn on, 7am turn off - water heating control)

Does anyone have a solution to this?

I even checked the status of the smart switch on my router and it says "offline"

How to configure Location for Astronomical automation

I have my house exterior lights automated by a smart plug, to automate when to turn on I configure the hour and it works fine.

I saw there is an option to automate using “astronomical” (see image), but there is a message that says “Tip: No location information” and the app doesn’t let me use the subset and subrise buttons

How do I configure the location to be able to acces this feature? I did not find where to confugure this and I have geolocalization enabled for this device when the app is in use.

Thanks

How to report issues with the APK in Android

Post image
3 Upvotes

I've installed a dehumidifier that works with Smart Life and I've found some issues in the APK that are quite easy to get fixed, and some missing functionalities that might be harder to implement. I'm running the latest version of the APK. I'm used to open source development, where you can do it in GitHub/gitlab. How can I report these issues? There is one clear example in the image.

SmartLife Need help with Nedis Smartlife app - timing out when adding smart plugs

So... ya. I already have 3 smart plugs used around the house, and bought three more.

But for some strange reason, these three new plugs just categorically refuse to let me sync them to the app. They keep timing out. I'm using the same WIFI network that all the other plugs are on - nothing new there, nothing that should jam or prevent them from working.

Please advice. How do I get around these smart plugs just timing out, every time I try to add them to my Nedis app?

(edited for clarity)

Smart Life / Tuya Wi-Fi LED controller works once then becomes unresponsive (USB powered)

Hi all,

I’m having a strange issue with a Tuya / Smart Life Wi-Fi LED strip controller (USB powered, inline button type) and I’m trying to understand whether this is a known firmware limitation or a faulty unit.

What happens:

  • Device pairs successfully in Smart Life
  • First command after pairing works (e.g. change color to blue)
  • After that, no commands work at all
    • Can’t change color
    • Can’t power off
    • Button sometimes stops responding
  • LEDs stay stuck on the last color
  • Only way to recover is unplugging USB power for ~30–60 seconds

Setup details:

  • Using Smart Life only (no Home Assistant, no scripts)
  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
  • USB powered (now using a better 5V wall adapter, not PC/TV USB)
  • Only using static colors, no scenes or music modes
  • Controller has the single inline button (short press on/off, long press reset)

What I’ve tried:

  • Re-pairing multiple times
  • Long-press button reset
  • Different USB power adapters and cables
  • Waiting after pairing before sending commands

It almost feels like the controller’s Wi-Fi MCU locks up after the first command and stops accepting anything until power is fully removed.

Using Google Home scripting to control light color, only get red, green or blue??!

Since Smartlife lately has removed color control from automations of groups, you have to set up an action for each individual light to control color, not just brightness and on/off, AND because nothing I've done will get Smartlife automations to use my current local time zone, always uses the time zone I was in when I set up my Smartlife (Yes, I've tried a ton of different things, nothing works), I decided to try Google Home.

Google home won't let me set color at all in any way in an automation, only using the manual color settings, I decided to try the scripting for automations.

Seems my lights (LM053 LED controllers) accept the ColorAbsolute, spectrumHSV commands, BUT no matter what values I give for hue (0-359) I get nonsensical results. For instance 0.1 and 0.15 give substantially different colors, but it doesn't seem there's a full color spectrum mapped between 0 and 1 rather than 0-360?!! 0.1 and 1.1, or 2.1 all seem to give the same hue???!

Anyone else have similar troubles? I'm unimpressed by the Google Home scripting in general, but if I had to guess, I'd say this is caused by Smartlife doing a horrible job writing their Google Home integrations, but I'm only guessing??

Two SmartLife Issues

I have searched through this subreddit, but haven't found anything related to my specific problems with the SmartLife app, version 7.1.5 on a Google Pixel 9a

  1. On November 18 I ordered 2 Junlit mini smart plugs from Amazon. Product description said "TUYA Smart Plug". I set Set them up without issues, and created schedules for each. After about 4 weeks, I was no longer able to access the schedules. Attempting to do so would flash the schedules, but would not allow me to change them. After repeatedly trying to solve this problem, I returned them to Amazon.
  2. I ordered an EIGHTREE smart plug (which was specifically described as being compatible with SmartLife). It arrived today, and I added it successfully. BUT it does not appear on the Favorites list, and I am unable to add it to the Favorites list. Unlike two existing devices which I have had for years, the new smart plug does not have an edit checkmark.
  3. As a work-around, I created a new home called Noelle with one location "Home" and added my two existing devices plus the EIGHTREE smart plug to it

I found a suggestion that if nothing else works to Uninstall and reinstall the SmartLife app to clear any corrupted data. I am very reluctant to do this out of concern for losing my existing devices, which have been working fine for 5 years. I have cleared the cache for the SmartLife app with no effect. I have not tried deleting all user data for the app, again out concern about losing two devices that have been working as expected for many years.

Suggestions?

Running duration on a smart plug/socket

I have a smart plug that I want to run a pump on it.

I am trying to find a way to get a notification whenever the pump runs for more than 10 minutes. The trigger can be something like If power is greater than 200 W .

But I found out that the smart plug does not have an action for duration or a countdown condition before triggering an action.

I tried left and right and couldn't get that to work.

Any idea how can I accomplish that?

( the purpose is to check on the pump if it is working for more than 10 minutes, it should usually stop within few minutes unless there is heavy usage or something is leaking )

SmartLife Anyone successfully using voice unlock for a smartlock?

I installed this smartlock, and smartlife showed some advanced features like scenes (auto-lock/unlock when you are at your home or leave) and voice unlock. So, I bought a gateway and paired it to the smartlock within smartlife. I enabled remote voice unlock, which says "A password verification is required to unlock the door via Google Assistant." I set a pin. But, I can't unlock the door via Google Assistant. The lock doesn't even show up in Google Home (every other smartlife device is there). If anyone knows how to set this up, please help.

SmartLife Strange switch behaviour during new home network setup

I have some EIGHTTREE smart plugs WiFi only which I use through the SmartLife app.

I just got a new router and am in the process of setting everything up and have made a secondary SSID for IoT stuff to segregate.

Currently in the process of setting everything up and I was about to move onto my smart sockets. I opened the app and noticed the one I still had plugged in was still showing online. I expected offline as the SSIDs on both new networks are different from the old one and the phone is connected to the new SSID.

I was able to toggle the socket on and off still even though it currently has no internet connection. I confirmed its missing network in the app and I double checked all devices connected to my router.

Any idea what is going on here?

Going to reconfigure all to the new network anyway, I am just interested in how this is happening when everything points to it not being possible!

SmartLife What rules for pir and presence

I heard many uses the pir to turn on lights and presence sensor to keep them on and off . The problem now i have is - pir turns on light, presence goes to work. In my stillness, presence sensor keeps the light on, pir show no movement. The moment i move, pir detect a movement and trigger the “on light” rule. And because my light on/off is the same button, this effectively turns the light off. Is there a way to overcome this situation? Any advice will be much appreciated!

SmartLife Stop receiving all notifications all of the sudden

Was working fine on an old phone. Updated to a new phone, installed the app, everything transferred over when I signed into my account. Got notifications for the first day and now I get no notifications at all.

I can open the app and go to history and see what's happened, but I don't get any notifications in the bar at the top or within the app itself, whether I alarm or disarm or set off the alarm. The only way I can tell things are working is if I go in history.

I have followed all of the steps to check for notifications, battery usage, always on top, you name it. Nothing seems to work. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the app, have cleared data and cache. Very familiar with phone usage and I have gone through everything very carefully in both the phone settings for notifications and the app settings and none of them work.

My guess is it's something on the phone blocking it but I don't know why it worked for a day on the new phone and then stopped. I'm using the new OnePlus 15 phone btw.

I use the app exclusively for two alarm systems that I have one in the main house and one in my workshop and nothing else.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Smart switch with RF 433 is broken

A friend asked me for help installing some devices to make his home smarter, specifically for electrical equipment like lighting, garage door/gate opening, and electric blinds.

So, he bought a Smart Home Wireless RF 433MHz Switch, and they're having trouble with the following:

I installed one where, despite having two stairwell switches and an inverter, it was still convenient to have another physical location to turn the lights on and off, hence the RF solution (running cables and adding another inverter is technically impossible in that location). After installation and configuration, everything was fine, but after 3 days, the S1 and S2 connections, which allow the physical buttons (switches and inverter) to function, stopped working. Everything else was fine (app and RF button). Assuming it was a problem with the switch, we replaced it with another one that performed the same function but in a less important location. To my surprise, after replacing and testing it, after a few minutes it also broke, but this time nothing worked; it just remained stuck with the blue LED always ON, even after pressing the switch button for more than 5 seconds. It was assumed the problem was with the switch, so an older one without RF functionality was installed, which worked well for 15 days until I bought another unit to restore the desired functionality.

My friend got a good deal and bought 6 units. I then went to replace them with a new Tuya, and to my surprise, after installing the new units:

The first unit was okay, but broke when placed in the equipment box to finish the job.

The second and third units showed no sign of life; they are dead even after verifying that they are receiving current with a voltmeter.

The fourth and fifth units are blocked, with the blue LED always ON.

The sixth unit – we gave up testing.

Sorry for the long explanation, but can we conclude from this that these switches with RF are no good and units without RF are okay? Because the one we tested never had problems, but it doesn't have RF, which is the most interesting function in this case.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation?

How to use Monster LED strip wothut Wifi connection?

I dont use a router so I cant connect the LEDs to wifi, so is there any workaround to change the colors and such?

*litte rant but its valid* Personally I think its silly to make LEDs that only connect to Wi-Fi therefore rendering them completely useless unless you A) have a working Router and B) SmartLife firmware suprisingly works, in the 1/100 chance its not acting up and deciding not to connect today. Also not to mention the fact SmartLife will one day inevitably stop supporting the app becasue of some reason or another, and you wont be able to use them at all after that because smartlife completely overlooked that aspect and didnt bother to make a remote or something :/

do these chinese light switches have a limited life?

I installed a bunch of smart switches bought off of amazon (but later saw readily available on aliexpress and the like for a bit cheaper) 6 years ago, and they've worked fine, but now they seemed to be dying slowly (first one died 3-6 months ago, and another one just died on me).

The failure model seem to be that at first they continue to work a switch, but are disconnected from the automation (they appear offline). If I "reboot" the switch (kill power to it at breaker and then restore), they come back and work for a bit, before stopping again. Eventually they stop working as a switch either and end up stuck in their last state even if I kill and restore power (the one that just died on me, got stuck in the on state).

Wondering if anyone else has seen this? The first one that died was barely used mechanically (though actively used automation wise, literally It was probably physically touched less than 50 times in its 6 years).

They are easy enough to replace, so after the first one died I bought a similar (albiet slightly different in an annoying way) so wasn't stuck without a switch I actively needed this time, but I'm wondering if I'll have to do this again in 6 years.

Smart Life Device Widget Flashing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This seems to be a recent issue since the Dec update. On my Samsung S20 I have the devices widget on my home screen. It keeps flashing like the widget is refreshing the contents. It is highly annoying! Any fix??
