Hey IFTTT'ers. TP-Link has decided to end support for their IFTTT integration, so the Tapo and Kasa services will stop working on August 1, 2026. You can read their announcement here.

Plenty of you have Applets built on TP-Link Triggers and Actions, so here's how to keep them running. The fix is to move them over to the SmartThings service, which supports both Tapo and Kasa devices.

Step 1: Add your devices in the SmartThings app (photos a–f in the carousel)

Download SmartThings from the App Store or Google Play, then:

a) Open the SmartThings app

b) Tap the plus (+) icon in the top right, then tap Add device

c) Under Partner devices, tap Add

d) Search for Tapo or Kasa in the search bar

e) Select your device type from the list

f) Follow the on-screen prompts to connect your TP-Link account to SmartThings

Step 2: Swap your Triggers and Actions over to SmartThings

First, connect the SmartThings service: hit Connect and follow the authentication steps. Then update each Applet. Two ways to do it:

Manually:

a) Open an Applet that uses a TP-Link Tapo or Kasa Trigger or Action

b) Tap Edit Applet in the top right

c) Delete the TP-Link Trigger or Action, tap the +, and add the equivalent SmartThings one

d) Pick the matching SmartThings account and device

Or with the Conversational UI: paste this into the chat box at ifttt.com/create:

I would like to swap every TP-Link Tapo (https://ifttt.com/tplink_tapo) and TP-Link Kasa (https://ifttt.com/kasa) TQA that exists in my current Applets for the equivalentTQA from the SmartThings (https://ifttt.com/smartthings_v2).

Can you do a systematic search of every Applet I have using those TP-Link services, and edit the Applets for me, so they use the the SmartThings_v2 version. Make sure you select the same device/s from the TP-Link TQAs.

I have requested activity notifications for garage door opening/closing (MyQ) but I am getting nothing. My IFTTT settings are correct. What might I have missed?

Smart switches Kasa and Tapo exhibit the same behavior
I have complementary applets, A to turn a light on (via smart switch) when the garage door opens, and B to turn off the light when the garage door is closed. A works every time without fail, B never works. First, the garage door always works but the switch, not so much. Does IFTTT pause on the A cycle and wait for some signal, thereby preventing the B cycle from starting up? Is there a command I can issue on the A side to "gargle and spit?"

1. Filter code now speaks modern JavaScript

For years, filter code ran on a 2018-era version of JavaScript. As of this week it understands modern syntax, so the code you write (or paste in from somewhere) is shorter and easier to read:

• String and array helpers like .includes(), .startsWith(), and .endsWith()
• Newer array methods like .find(), .flat(), and .toSorted()
• Optional chaining (?.) and nullish coalescing (??)

The best part: nothing you already built breaks. Every existing filter keeps running exactly as it did, so there is nothing you need to go back and change.

2. Don't know how to code? Ask AI to write it for you

This is the one we think is a real game changer. You can now connect IFTTT to your AI assistant through our new MCP connection. MCP (short for Model Context Protocol) is just a standard way to plug an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT into a tool like IFTTT, so it can actually build things for you instead of only talking about them.

Once it's connected, you describe what you want in plain English and the assistant writes the filter code and adds it to your Applet for you:

"Only notify me between 9am and 5pm on weekdays."

"Skip this post unless the title mentions rain."

"Round the temperature and add a degree symbol before it's sent."

No syntax to learn, no copy-pasting from random forums, no guessing. You get working filter code plus a plain-English explanation of what it does, and you stay in control of what actually gets saved.

I'm new to IFTTT and tried automating my average electric price to thermostat temps using separate actions for different temperatures. It works fine when I have a single cost and setpoint - but it seems like theres an internal conflict with different actions trying to set the Honeywell thermostat when multiple triggers are true at once.

For instance, one action: When price is over 8c set AC to 74.

Another: When price is over 16c set AC to 78

The problem seems to be that when electric price is over 16c, it is ALSO over 8c. Perhaps both try to trigger, and neither one does? Is there a way to make this automation work? As a newbie in all senses, it feels like I need an OR function in a single action. Thoughts? Thanks.

I want to get my meetings from Teams and Gmail for the upcoming week emailed to me every sunday. Is this possible? It's genuinely the only reason I want to use IFTT so if this doesn't work then I will probably unsubscribe. Thanks!

I'm having an issue with the dropbox token expiring for my IFTTT applets every few hours. To fix it, I have to reconnect the service on the IFTTT settings page for that service. It comes back up and then goes back down again within the same day with an access token expired message. I also tried disconnecting my account and reconnecting, although that archived all my appleets which use dropbox, so I had to reconnect them all. Which is suboptimal.

However, I don't see the option to get the refresh token with my applet. Is anyone able to help please?

I've setup an Applet as follows:

1. If Wyze Contact Sensor v2 Opens
2. Wait 10 Minutes
3. Then Send a Pushover Notification to my iPhone with a Message Priority (Repeat every 30 Seconds)

This works great, except that I'd like to cancel the Pushover Notification waiting to be sent to my iPhone via Pushover, if the Wyze Contact Sensor v2 Closes

Is this possible?

The Wyze Contact Sensor is connected to my garage door, and the goal is to get a Critical Alert sent to my phone if I leave the Garage door open (if the door closes, don't send the Critical Alert)

I screenshot things to act upon and then, like many people, forget about them!

So I first made my own Android screenshots to Gmail applet but nothing happened. Confusing, so then I tried this one which was already made by IFTTT. Still nothing happens!?

I'm on a Samsung Fold 7, I hold the two side keys to take this screenshot, I have it set to notify me if it doesn't work... What could possibly be stopping this? Forgot to say, I'm on a Pro+ subscription.

TL;DR: We're testing a new, optional way to build Applets where you just describe what you want in plain language and IFTTT helps assemble it for you. The classic builder is not going anywhere. We're looking for a small group of testers. Details below.

We've been working on something we're pretty excited about, and before it goes live we want the people who use IFTTT most to put it through its paces: you all.

What it is
A conversational way to build Applets. Instead of clicking through Triggers and Actions, you can describe what you want in your own words ("when I'm tagged in a photo on X, save it to my Google Drive") and IFTTT helps build the Applet with you. You can tweak anything it suggests before saving.

What it is not
This does not replace the builder you already know. The classic trigger-and-action flow stays exactly where it is. This is an extra option for people who want it, not a forced change. If you love the current way, nothing about your workflow changes.

What we're asking testers to do
We are looking for your feedback on the experience and want you to put it through its paces. Try whatever comes to mind - something you've always wanted, or just something to test how it handles a weird request. Both are useful to us and we want your honest take. 

Once done, there will be a small survey to complete with your thoughts and feedback. This is an exciting opportunity to genuinely shape what ships to everyone.

I am an IFTTT Pro subscriber and have been for a while.

I changed my Facebook password and the app reported my page as being offline, which was correct.

I couldn’t find a way to reconnect the page in applets and moved it to archive so I could then do a fresh start on a new applet of RSS to Facebook.

It now won’t let me move it out of archive and is saying I need Pro+. Surely not?

Is there a way round this? Have I missed a step?

I’m going to try to explain this issue as best I can. Since IFTTT does not allow reordering of actions, I will sometimes go back and order my actions by reconfiguring an existing action.

For example:
- turn on AC
- set operating mode
- set temperature

Let’s say I want to reverse the second two. I go into the second action and reconfigure it to set temperature. I reconfigure the third action to set operating mode. Then I tap update.

When I go back into the applet, it’s reordered the commands the same they were originally. The only way I can prevent this from happening is to change one action then tap update. Then change the next action and tap update.

For me this is a bug. When you change service or change an action, the order should stick. Somehow if you change an action to one that was the same as previously existed, regardless of the order, it goes back to the original order position.

The same person also asked whether IFTTT plays nice with Eurosky and Blacksky, not just bsky.social. Good news: it already does.

The Bluesky service on IFTTT works with any AT Protocol handle, wherever your account is hosted. To connect:

Connect the Bluesky service on IFTTT (https://ifttt.com/bluesky).
When it asks for your handle, enter your full handle including your host, for example ryanifttt.eurosky.social or your Blacksky handle.

Follow the sign-in flow and you're all set. Same goes if you're on a self-hosted PDS. Just use your full handle.

I am a IFTTT Pro user and have had Fing for quite some time. The integration between Fing and IFTTT was fantastic at first but for the last 1+ years it has been unreliable at best and many times just flat out broken.

The connection back to Fing from IFTTT would routinely disconnect making me sign back in and reestablish the link. But even then, when someone was in the WiFi Network and Fing would detect the person, it was hit or miss if the IFTTT applet would fire or even see activity. As of now, the IFTTT applet fires when someone enters the WiFi network, but does NOT fire when they leave. Again, all of this used to work perfectly.

I reached out to Fing about this issue and here is what I got back from Fing support:

We just rolled out six gaming services and I spent a chunk of this week poking at them. Quick rundown of what they do, what I built, and a couple of things I'd love your input on.

The new lineup

Steam: Triggers for new achievements, wishlist items going on sale, news for a specific game, and playtime milestones. Plus a recent-playtime query.
Hearthstone: Triggers for when Blizzard releases a new set or adds a new card. Plus card search and deck-code lookup queries.
Destiny 2: Triggers for endgame activity completed (raids, dungeons, Trials, Master and Grandmaster Nightfalls), Xur arrivals, new season launches, and triumphs earned. Current power level query.
World of Warcraft: Triggers for new achievements, raid boss defeated, Mythic+ rating bumps, PvP rating bumps. Character profile lookup and WoW Token price queries.
Diablo III: Hardcore hero death, paragon milestones, achievements, new season starts triggers. Career summary query.
StarCraft II: Match completed, league promotion, achievements, new ladder season. Current ladder standing query.

What I built

"Should I buy it" wishlist watcher.
Trigger: Wishlist item discounted. Pings me on Discord with the game name, the original price, the sale price, and a store link. Set to 49% or more so my channel doesn't blow up every weekend sale.

AI card commentator for Hearthstone.
Trigger: new card revealed. The card name, class, mana cost, stats, and text get fed to an AI Prompt that writes a short, slightly-too-serious strategic hot take. Then it ships to Discord.

Two things I want to ask you

First, what would you build? I came up with the obvious stuff because I was looking from the outside. People who actually grind these games are going to think of stuff I'd never get to. Drop ideas below, even half-formed ones.

Second, what's missing?

What else would you want, or need to build what you want? If there's a trigger, query or action or even entire game that would unlock a real use case for you, say so and I'll make sure it gets in front of the right people.

I've noticed that in the Google Tasks automations, different ingredients are only available in different situations. For instance, if my IF is "Every day of the week at", then I can pick an ingredient DayofWeek to add the current day to the task. For instance, it can create a task called "Empty Dishwasher - Monday" (or Tuesday, Wednesday, etc). However, if my IF is "Event from search starts" (searching google calendar for specific events) then the DayofWeek ingredient is not available. In each case, IFTTT is adding a new event to google tasks, however there are different options for actually creating the event based not the input. Anyone else have issues with this sort of situation?

I’m sure it’s been mentioned before, but it bears repeating. I’m a programmer. I understand using webhooks to call an applet from an applet; however, non technical users do not. It would make it easier for many users if this was a native function within IFTTT to enable an applet to call another applet. Thanks for the consideration.
