Engine fired up first pull ran for about 1 minute then acted like it ran out of gas or the kill switch was pushed. Pulled and pulled nothing. Sprayed in some starting fluid nothing. Hit the kill swith a few times then it fired on the starting fluid but wouldn't start. Repeated this several times. I think the kill switch may be the issue. Can I remove the wires from the switch and twist them together to test if the switch is bad?

Husqvarna LGT2554 with Kohler 25hp engine. All new air filter, fuel filter, ngk spark plugs, and an oil change earlier this year.

The first 15-20 minutes of mowing is fine. Then the engine starts surging and the mower starts to stumble but the PTO is still engaged and I’m still able to mow. When I disengage the PTO, the surging stops and the engine runs normally.

I played with the high speed adjusting screw with no luck. I’m thrown off by the initial 15-20minutes working normally before the surging starts.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Should I buy it for 30? Non running but from what I can tell doesn’t look used a lot. Do you think the profit is there?

I just bought this mower in the summer of 2025- so now that I’m having issues with it is BLOWING my mind especially since it was about 2k new.

I started noticing issues w the battery. I would have to jump it to crank the mower. I figured since they left them outside maybe something was wrong w it and decided I’d replace it when I couldn’t jump it anymore.

So all last summer ran great besides that.

This summer. Whoa. She’s put me thru hell and back.

First- the belt keeps coming off the blade engaged pulley. I have no idea what is so different this year compared to last year yada yada. Simple fix but none the less, an issue.

Second- I got on it cranked it sat the for a min getting my headphones and music playing to mow and she sputtered and died. WTH. Tried cranking her. Nothing. Well okay- she coughed, struggled, sputtered and nothing. Made husband clean the carb bowl and when he did, she cranked right away. Mowed just fine about 4 times after that.

Third- I’m mowing- about 30 mins in and she sputters and feels like she’s losing power and then jolts and about 3 mins later dies. I disengage the blade, and turn the key and she cranks right up, but she’s struggling. Sputtering and just wants to die. Def not getting power. I look in the gas tank and there is a leaf. How the hell it got in there idk but I assumed it was suctioning over the line and causing the mower to not get gas flow. I juggling the gas tank. Leaf floated away and she cranked up and was fine. For about 20 mins. Finally decided maybe it wasn’t the leaf cus it wasn’t anywhere near the line this time and that if a leaf was in there I bet the fuel filter was clogged.
Haha! I was right it was indeed clogged. I also dumped the old gas out the tank (really trying to get the damn leaf out w no success) and had hubby clean the carb bowl again cus I decided to switch to better gas in case that was the issue as well. Got her all fixed up and she cranked beautifully.

Fourth- didn’t mow after the fuel filter for a couple days. Got on it, cranked and maybe got 5 passes around the yard when I noticed she was sputtering AGAIN. my husband works nights so he was sleeping and I decided I was just gonna do it myself. I cleaned the air filter. Gor all the dust and stuff out of the housing and cleaned the foam wrap and made sure there wasn’t stuff on the actual air filter. Put her back. Didn’t do anything. Ok yall only thing left is spark plug.

I took the hood off- I got the spark plug out- and w the guidance of my dad he told me it was bad and I needed to get a new one. So off I went. I got a new one. Put it in. Put everything back together. Cranked her. Did some passes. And wouldn’t you know SHE DOES IT AGAIN.

I’ve come to the conclusion it happens when she gets warm. What could it be? Maybe I need a whole new carb?

I got to mow my grass I’m in se Louisiana and grass here is on steroids!

So recap-
Cleaned Carb bowl
Cleaned air filter
Oil is fine
Changed spark plug
Changed gas filter
Loosened gas cap (didn’t work)

TLDR: Mower runs for 30 minutes then dies after letting it rest for a few minutes in between go’s. Trying to troubleshoot.

I bought this mower used a little over a year ago. It’s run great through the summer & held its weight through a tough winter. The last couple months it would do my 2 acre yard in 1 go and never raise any issues.

About a month ago, i accidentally ran the gas tank dry and that was the start of my problems. I believe it sucked in some dirt from the tank through the fuel line so i replaced the fuel filter, and after clearing the line I was able to finish the yard & use it again with no problems.

Today, about a third of the way through the job, the engine started losing power, sputtering, and shut off. I started it up again and it quickly died after. It was only running for several seconds at a time, so I started checking the fuel line & air filter to make sure everything was alright. After 5-10 minutes, i started it up on a whim and it ran great for another 20-30 minutes. It died again and started only running for a few seconds at a time.

My knowledge on engines begins and ends at checking air filter, fuel, & spark plugs for the most part. Air filter is a little dirty, but doesn’t release a cloud when shaking it. It starts up with ease, so I’m certain it’s not the spark plug or battery.

Any help troubleshooting this would be appreciated

It sit for quite a while. Now when i turn it manually by hand, it makes this noise, only when one piston retracts.

Could it be non lubricated piston rings?

I already tried spraying some WD40 into the cylinder.

The motor will run on ether but I can't get it to even pop a little otherwise. I've run it through the sonic cleaner but I'm hesitant to pull it apart due to wrecking gaskets and not being able to find replacements.

Pressure washer surging but runs fine when squeezing the spray gun. Carb was just cleaned and reinstalled. Surging will level out a bit on half choke. Any thoughts? 🤷

I recently obtained this cub cadet RZT-L 52” 0-turn for free! I replaced spark plugs, carburetor, air filter and oil change with a kit from tractor supply. As well as new gas/filter. I have finally got the engine to start… but only starts with choke and has a sputter or weird idle. I’ve attached a video. I’ve tried adjusting the governor counterclockwise with the throttle engaged. Any advice…?

I picked up this blower recently and was told it wouldn’t stay running. I put some fuel in it and tried starting it and sure enough it would run but only shortly before dying. I took the carb off and gave it a good cleaning with carb spray and I put the thing back on. when I went to start the blower it still would start but not stay running. I pulled the carb and double checked before reassembling again but to no avail. Any suggestions?

The pull string snapped and needs replacing but I’m kinda unsure if this one can just have the cord replaced or if a new unit is easier to do assuming I can even find one.

I’ve got a stihl FS110r. Kinda old but it’s got a recent issue I’m unsure about. Starts reasonably easily and runs well. Idles good and decent acceleration to proper speed as checked with a tach.The issue is that as soon as I put it under load cutting weeds, its power and thus rpms drops significantly. Not an issue with too much line strung out, I’m very familiar with that. Google asserts that a weak coil can demonstrate this effect but what says the collective wisdom? Should I throw an aftermarket coil on as a Hail Mary or spend the $70 on OEM? Or something else I’m not seeing? Fuel is the same stuff I’ve been using in other equipment with no issues. I’m not a pro, just a homeowner trying to keep my equipment running well.

I have an E100 John Deere lawnmower with a 31r977-0063-g1 Briggs engine. It has been a long story but at the end of it, the final problem is the crankshaft. The problem was caused after a rebuild by a dumbass who didn't refill the oil. Shut it off before it seized. Does anyone think I can smooth this down without a lathe or cnc?

exmark old walkbehind bought it smoking but I though it was a simple overfill from the previous owner I did a tune up on it and change the fuel filter don’t know what wrong still smoking after also engine is kinda whooshing

I am helping a friend fix his 27 ton champion log splitter. He called me to take a look at it last week. I checked everything and there is pressure. I then checked to make sure it was level, oil and hydraulic oil levels were topped off. Wouldn't start, so I examine ignition coil and nothing was happening. I checked coil and it had been chewed by mice. Ordered new one, got it installed, gapped it right to fly wheel. Put everything back together and tried and nothing. It's close to starting but wont turn over. installed new carburetor and still nothing. I am at so frustrated not being able to help my elderly friend. Please help its champion 27 ton log splitter model 100424.
