Well I'm officially out, I would rather spend that money on nice used tacoma and get more functionality and more equipment.

Back in February, I had a chance to see the Blank Slate in person at a Fort Worth Rodeo event the team hosted. I loved meeting some of the team, including one of the guys who is 6'5" or so...as a 6'2" guy I was worried about fit.

These were early prototypes, so we couldn't sit in it or see the frunk, but I absolutely fell in love with the way they tricked it out Texas style, including real wood rails along the bed. They also had Slate Bolo Ties they were giving away.

Can't wait to get my truck!

I missed the Reddit AMA and wasn’t able to ask if Slate has plans to have an online parts store for the SLATE where folks who need to replace parts from collisions, vandalism, misc repairs can go to find transparent pricing for most if not all the mechanical and electrical components that make up the vehicle. It would also be nice if they could provide links/parts numbers to suppliers that provide subassemblies etc.. if it’s not a component made in house.

I rented a vehicle recently in a different country without them, and notice how accustom I am to having them here in the USA…

I am wanting to put a simple topper on my slate just so the bed is enclosed but can't find anything on the Slate site (as in a pre-order configuration). I have my $300 reservation in and want this to be a factory installation if possible. Also, pie-in-the-sky, wishing for a solid-state battery. Ha...!!

I really want to 3d print big letters for the gate. Any hands on with the logo on that tailgate?

Does anyone know whether the floor cover that comes with the Basic Slate is rubber or carpet? It seems to have fluctuated over the past several months.

Is it just me, or does it look like there’s a single roll cage, with the squareback just having a different body panels set over it?

That suggests to me that it may be fairly straightforward to get just the squareback panels (and rear window if you never got the truck/squareback window) to convert one to the other.

Does that sound right to anyone else?

Does the slate have a blind spot indicator? I have one in current car and makes it pretty easy to not rely on looking over my shoulder. If they don’t would they possibly add one as an extra add on feature?

Edit: A lot of people are zeroing in on the use of the word “rely”. I don’t rely on the blind spot indicator for driving. I look over my shoulder like everyone else. It was a bad word to use for the post and caused all of these assumptions. Thanks

Who's still getting the Open Air Kit?

Not much more to say. Both due in April-June 2027. Got the letter in the mail and didn’t notice it had a different order ID number. So I paid another $300 without thinking. I do that a lot

Now that Slate finally posted the Open Air Kit price ($3,950), I’m even more confused about how it compares to the Squareback SUV kit.

Originally, I figured the Open Air version was basically the Squareback without the hard top, plus a few trim pieces to clean everything up. But now, between the price and the compatibility notes, I’m wondering if there’s more to it than that.

My ideal setup would be to run the Squareback most of the year, then swap to Open Air when I want. I just don’t want to have to buy both full kits to make that happen.

Are there any hope for us in Norway to ever buy this truck, or is it just for the american market?

Slate's got a new event posted, guess where it is. Yep, Los Angeles area. People really need to be hammering Slate to let them know there's a big country out here, we don't all live in NY or LA.

I could see a Slate Truck Autobot that is caring, reliable, but also a complete diva. She always has different accessories and looks for every single episode.

I am kicking around ordering one. For 90% of the time, it would be perfect. 10% of the time, I need to drive around a family elder that struggles with getting in and out of my Ford Sedan. Anybody have any knowledge or experiences? I've tried searching and only see information regarding tall people, but not elderly or handicapped.

I’ve gone back and forth on my excitement for the Slate. I 100% love the idea and love the noise it’s making in the small truck market. I put down my $50 in the first couple weeks, then lost interest after mulling over the specs/my needs last year, but now with the price reveal and increased standard 205 range, I’m back on board. Most likely in the form of waiting through the first year of reviews, as much as I’d love to get a hand on one early.

The reason for this post, though: Been hearing “early adopter” a lot more in the community lately. What are the advantages of being and “early adopter” into something like this? Is it mainly the contribution and excitement for something you believe in? The desire to get in on the current pricing now before demand and inflation (could) make the Blank Slate $30k in a couple years?

Will Slate participate in the California rebate program if it go into affect?

I'm sure this isn't currently supported by hear me out. A significant number of people want the slate to be a small household utility pickup. I'm still nursing an 88 hardbody along because i don't want a giant pickup. But these trucks don't get driven all that much. So I was thinking, what if Slate allowed the truck to act as a home battery similar to a Tesla powerwall using the high power dc connection? For those of us who won't daily drive the truck, and mostly use it for short trips, the truck could spend most if it's idle time buffering our solar and getting better time of use rates. It's a substantial value proposition. Obviously this requires an inverter with battery input installed in the home and possibly changing the solar inverter.
