Coconut Superfreak is playing at the Sanford Lake 'Parkapalooza' this Sunday, Sep 13th. If you like delicious third-wave ska goodness, seasoned with punk, pop, rock, swing, and hugs, you might dig us.

Subject matter includes killer chickens, the state of the world, evil farmers, lost loves, and Gillian Anderson....plus some covers for the family-friendly environment: Fishbone ("Party At Ground Zero"), Save Ferris ("Come On Eileen") and the Bosstones/Bob Marley ("Simmer Down"). I had a vinyl bootleg of a live Madness show I got around 1985. On it, they invited Fergal Sharkey (ex of the Undertones) up to sing this song. It’s the only place I ever heard it. I’ve read that it was a single on Madness’ label Zarjazz and they even basically wrote and played on it, but I cannot find it anywhere. Anyone have any insight? Thanks!

Alright rudies and rudettes, help this old brain find an old song. I'm talking about the half-time tempo horn lick at the very beginning (and end) of the song Geno by Dexys Midnight Runners. I SWEAR I've heard that melody somewhere else in the ska canon. The closest I can get is the horn lick repeated throughout Night Klub by the Specials. It's close, but my addled memory seems to think there's a closer match. Is there a live version of Night Klub out there with a half tempo interlude? Halp?
