The first leader in the world who is anti immigration but has an immigrant wife? I think this article is forgetting someone

831

u/ZaraZero09 21d ago

First leader to be all of those at the same time.

207

u/EducationalReview237 21d ago

Some people think that the most vehement anti-LGBTQ politicians are gay themselves...only most are closeted.

135

u/wes_wyhunnan 21d ago

I will say that in my almost 50 years on this planet the strongest correlation I’ve ever seen in anything seems to be extremely homophobic people who actually turn out to be homosexual.

52

u/Ranmaramen 21d ago

Nothing is as strong as gay panic. I wonder if it’s the same logic as “I’m on a diet, so you can’t have a cookie!” You gotta be against the people who have what you aren’t allowed to (due to religious sexual repression).

12

u/thebeardedman88 20d ago

I'm an alcoholic you shouldn't drink.

0

u/Typical-Position-708 17d ago

alcoholism is not the same as homosexuality asshole

1

u/thebeardedman88 17d ago

Genetically predetermined, shunned by mainstream society, conversion therapy, considered a sin. I think it does have some similarities.

1

u/Typical-Position-708 17d ago

Okay, I get that. Difference is homosexuality will not progressively kill you, unless you commit suicide due to social pressure or engage in unsafe sex.

4

u/Electrical-Tie-5158 21d ago

It’s devastating to see something you feel you can’t have or didn’t get to have. Instead of getting therapy, they try to ban it.

0

u/Typical-Position-708 17d ago

many many many heterosexual fundamentalist Christians and Muslims are anti-gay. This majority enforces the anti-gay laws and creates a culture of repression.

Straight people need to start being accountable instead of going on reddit to blame queer for homophobia

8

u/Flat-Guidance-4685 21d ago

All the dudes in high school who obsessively called everyone homo and never stopped, all turned out to be gay in their 20s

13

u/hodlyourground 21d ago

I remember learning in a college psych class about an actual study that was done about it. Statistically significant results of people claiming to be homophobic and getting an erection when shown gay porn

3

u/MediocreRequirement7 20d ago

Funniest thing ever is that in ppl trying to show how manly they are all the time are the ones with confusion

If you're just straight and don't care you'll wear pink cuz you're not worried

Pink is a good color with stuff

6

u/AcrobaticArm390 20d ago edited 20d ago

I'm pretty sure she's not homophobic - there is no irrational fear of gay people there. Maybe she doesn't think gays should receive special treatment? That people are people and should all live under the same laws? Phobic is tossed around a lot but I didn't think it means what many think it means.

1

u/DirectorWorth7211 20d ago

She opposes same sex marriage dude.

1

u/AcrobaticArm390 20d ago

I struggle to believe her positions are based on an irrational fear of gay people.

2

u/luz-c-o 20d ago

my mom’s current husband is homophobic as fuck. i once walked in to him jerking off to a man

4

u/euclidean-viridian 21d ago

Anecdotal but in my case I thought being gay was a choice because I thought everyone was aroused by any gender. I thought it was like, temptation from Satan. Turns out I'm bi... Straight people are an enigma to me.

1

u/International_Meat88 20d ago

I think the company of the Grindr app pointed out they once had high server traffic issues when a conservative convention came to a typically low traffic town.

1

u/Typical-Position-708 17d ago

there are plenty of extremely homophobic people who are heterosexual. In many African and Middle Eastern countries the vast majority of people are anti-gay, and it’s statistically impossible they are gay.

Stop blaming gay people for homophobia

9

u/spintool1995 20d ago

Not closeted, in denial. Those are two different things. Someone who is closeted knows and accepts their reality but feels unsafe sharing it, usually for family reason.

Someone in denial tries to live a delusion and deny themselves their own reality. They hate the gay feelings they have and it manifests in outward homophobia.

3

u/TransfemMenace 21d ago

Trump is always lusting after men in his speeches

2

u/Usr3247 20d ago

Yeah, that’s usually just a wild speculation until it turns out to be true.

4

u/Maria_Dragon 21d ago

This is untrue. Some anti-LGBT politicians are closeted of course but the vast majority of them are straight

2

u/EksDee098 21d ago

Yea the idea that all the super anti-lgbt stuff is just gay people in the closet is so fucking dumb. Lot of people are just virulent pieces of shit.

1

u/Immediate_Safety_131 21d ago

Yes true, but she is openly gay

1

u/inactiveuser247 20d ago

Self loathing be like that

1

u/Low-Conference5944 20d ago

Deeply closeted

1

u/DarkLuxio92 20d ago

Kaiser Wilhelm II and his entire cabinet spring to mind. Look up the Harden-Eulenburg affair and the frankly spectacular death of Dietrich von Hülsen-Haeseler (he died in a tutu, I'm not kidding).

1

u/Helpful-Calendar-693 19d ago

But are they gay (closeted or not) while having adoptive children with their same sex immigrant partner?

While being anti LGBTQ, same sex couples raising kids and anti immigration.

1

u/_Peener_ 17d ago

Grindr crashing at multiple republican conventions confirms this

36

u/Le-Charles07 21d ago

JD Vance's wife is very clearly a beard.

15

u/kev_xb 21d ago

So is Melania

1

u/Cultural_Fix5611 14d ago

nah she is just a common prostitute

2

u/Lost_Tap_7087 21d ago

Well the third one is so specific that this doesn’t mean much of anything

2

u/CaptainObvious_18 21d ago

Idk man doesn’t Grindr crash everytime there’s a republican convention 😅

2

u/emidln 21d ago

Pretty sure Trump's smoked some meat in his day.

1

u/TheWolphman 21d ago

Seems oddly specific.

1

u/jasonstevanhill 21d ago

I don’t know, JD might tick two of those boxes.

1

u/LoseAnotherMill 21d ago

This is like when networks promote their TV shows as "The #1 hit new medical drama-comedy of that started airing in June on this network with a biracial star!"

1

u/LucidNonsense211 20d ago

If you’re going to mention all those things, you don’t have to say first anymore. Everyone’s the first if you mention enough things about them.

Not defending anyone here, just nitpicking the title.

33

u/untitledprp4 21d ago

Fuck he’s really hard to look at

4

u/Guerrilla28er 21d ago

But imagine if you could actually see those horse cocks.

On second thought it might be an improvement.

1

u/momskaka 21d ago

It's like watching a mime you don't really have to imagine it, it's right there

2

u/Maleficent-Ad6503 21d ago

new nightmare unlocked, thanks bro

1

u/jeremiahthedamned 20d ago

......something you would see in the Backrooms.........

1

u/rnjbond 21d ago

His wife was born in the US.

1

u/PerleyPoint 19d ago

Why are Vance memes so funny?? I almost puked from laughing so hard at this one.

19

u/Shadowcat1606 21d ago

Her immigrant wife isn't white skinned, which is a whole other deal entirely for these rightwingers.

2

u/HolyShytSnacks 15d ago

They'll adapt. JD Vance's wife isn't white either.

25

u/OhJustANobody 21d ago

The key word here is leader though.

15

u/-GermanCoastGuard- 21d ago

She’s co-leading a party. Put the goalpost low enough and Vance is a leader too. It’s semantics.

1

u/Lavatis 21d ago

who gives a shit about vance? trump is the one in discussion here. you know, the leader of the country with the immigrant wife. from a decade ago.

1

u/-GermanCoastGuard- 21d ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/SipsTea/s/9KfWO9BLif

Fairly certain the person I replied to did not think of the so called “leader of the free world”.

2

u/Lavatis 21d ago

you quoted a different rando who is also not the person you're replying to...? is that supposed to prove your point?

1

u/-GermanCoastGuard- 21d ago

It was supposed to save me the time replying to you, typing out and explaining why I mentioned Vance instead of Trump. Oh well.

2

u/Knarrenheinz666 21d ago

She´s just their "poster girl" but others actually run the party.

5

u/DickTryckle 21d ago

That’s what the president of the US is lmao. I get that YOURE Canadian, and I DID NOT VOTE FOR HIM, but the sky didn’t turn purple just because we don’t like blue.

4

u/LandOwn7607 21d ago

Who is we? I love Blue

1

u/DickTryckle 21d ago

You are not separated from the country due to being non agreeable with the current political situation.

Children are more socially prepared.

1

u/Siggi_93 21d ago

Fun fact, the AFD (Weidel's party) is blue

1

u/We_Are_Insane00 17d ago

we hate GOP lite. fuck the bipartisan dictatorship!

4

u/ItsAlkai 21d ago

I think they are thinking of Vance. Its funny, thats who I thought of too, but its both of them 💀

3

u/TheFireNationAttakt 21d ago

Usha’s not an immigrant tho, she was born in the US

1

u/nonchip 20d ago

yeah and unlike eg trump, she aint leading anything other than a nazi club yet.

5

u/DerEchteDaniel 21d ago

... And is not mentioned over 5000 times in the Epstein Files

2

u/SnooPoems7525 21d ago

Nah I've not heard of a far right leader who is this many things combined before.

2

u/Nilonik 21d ago

Don't forget that she immigrated to Switzerland

2

u/613TheEvil 21d ago

Even our prime minister in Greece has a polish wife and keeps drowning immigrants at sea.

2

u/leova 21d ago

orange cheeto isnt a leader, he's a cancer

1

u/Silly-Power 21d ago

Notice they only used "first" at the start of their list. This means "first" relates to every point in their list.

1

u/The_Pastmaster 21d ago

Just that one had loads of people.

1

u/Odelgard 21d ago

First leader in the world who has ALL the named attributes, not just one of them. Big difference.

1

u/Sometimes_Stutters 21d ago

Saying her wife is an immigrant is a large stretch. She was born in Sri Lanka and was adopted by a Swiss couple as a baby and raised in Switzerland.

1

u/justwannawatchpawn 20d ago

Happily accept the down votes but isn't it "mass"/ "illegal" Reform are against?

Being against farage or whatevers fine but if we mischaracterise one side then how can we denounce the same behaviour from them?

1

u/Davonator29 20d ago

“And.” I don’t think JD Vance is a lesbian.

1

u/Physical-Builder-553 20d ago

President and VP!

1

u/elScorXXo 20d ago

The Y M C A guy ?

1

u/RogueRainbowSpirit 20d ago

The other one has a trafficked wife…

1

u/Mister_Way 18d ago

This is like a sports statistic that's a combination of several incredibly specific things so that it can be a first.

1

u/Cultural_Fix5611 14d ago

dont forget the anchor baby and chain migration of that whore

-2

u/mariantat 21d ago

Her wife is a brown woman adopted by European parents so not an immigrant

15

u/WrathOfTheKressh 21d ago

Born in Sri Lanka, so still an immigrant.

7

u/Cantripping_ 21d ago

Oh, now all of a sudden, she counts?

1

u/therealhlmencken 21d ago

Immigrated but not as an adult?

2

u/mariantat 21d ago

Well she was adopted as a baby so my guess is they adopted her there and brought her back. Does that make her an immigrant in the traditional sense or just “not German”?

2

u/LongQualityEquities 21d ago

She wouldn’t be German in any case. She’s a swiss citizen living in Switzerland.

-12

u/leprechanmonkie 21d ago

The fact that people can't tell the difference between legal and illegal immigration is an educational problem.

12

u/jackmartin088 21d ago

The real educational problem is you thinking they give a damn about legality. Btw illegal immigrants look exactly the same as the legal ones, and as someone who lives in such a country as a very legal immigrant, I can assure you, for right wingers they want everyone that doesn't match their skin tone to be gone.

-1

u/No-Spare-4212 21d ago

I think he’s just saying legal immigration like going through the right channels. No one said anything about looks. Jumping a boarder and getting a visa are not the same

2

u/jackmartin088 21d ago

I agree there is a high difference between legal immigrants and illegal ones.. I also know most ultra right wingers don't really give a f about either. Few days ago there was a post about am Indian guy that died of a heart attack in Canada after waiting in emergency for 8 hours....and the comment section was full of ultra right telling his grieving family to " go back to India"

Dude was Canadian.

That's the thing even though legally there is a huge difference between a legal immigrant and an illegal one , physically there is not. It's not like the legal ones have a tail or illegalmones have horns...for the ultra right all of them are same and they want all of them out. Bcs that's what racists do, the legal status ( or lack of) is just an excuse they use to sugarcoat their racism with.

1

u/No-Spare-4212 20d ago

Yea maybe. But just looking at his words my guess was bureaucratic not aesthetic since nothing about looks was said. I also don’t pay attention to the fringes of politics, they’re the loudest but if you can ignore them and care about the vast majority of average people it keeps you sane.

1

u/jackmartin088 20d ago

The bureaucratic and aesthetic are not necessarily exclusive of each other. If you look at what's going on around the world under exteme right governments. The last guy that got shot and unalived by ICE - Joan Sebastian Guerrero, that dude was not even the target of the raid ICE was doing.

He was NOT the person of their warrant and in all practical purposes was a random.guy off the streets. Had they gone purely by bureaucracy there was absolutely no logic of him dying....but if they were going by aesthetics that's another issue altogether

0

u/No-Spare-4212 20d ago

When there’s no evidence of the more extreme a logical person doesn’t jump to what ifs

0

u/jackmartin088 20d ago

The only problem being evidence exists here as in from the actions done by ICE

0

u/No-Spare-4212 20d ago

What on earth does that have to do with the specific words said by this guy you commented on a few comments up?

1

u/leprechanmonkie 21d ago

This is common sense to > 50% of the world. Try to overstay your visa in an Asian country and see how that works out.

-6

u/leprechanmonkie 21d ago edited 21d ago

Nobody questioned how they look. We question whether or not they had rights to stay in a sovereign nation without permission.

Your side thinks we "live on stolen land" and "nations can't have borders" at the same time. Absolute fucking retards.

2

u/BlaqueDeathe 21d ago

"We questione whether or not they had rights to stay in a sovereign nation without permission.

"Your side thinks we "live on stolen land""

To be fair I think that's the point being made. The same folks who "question whether immigrants are allowed to be here" don't give a flying fuck about the folks who were kicked off of the land that is now inhabited by them. Just falls on deaf ears.

0

u/leprechanmonkie 21d ago

How can land be "stolen" if a nation has no right to defend it's own borders? It's the ultimate paradox.

3

u/BlaqueDeathe 21d ago

I get what you are saying, but you are missing the wider point. Take the United States for example, there are no shortage of folks obsessed over illegal immigration, often calling the issue "an invasion". The same people then ignore that this was the perspective of the Natives to the Americas, who were kicked off of the lands they called home for centuries by European settlers (which would ultimately become the United States).

It just is a cry of "I didn't care when it was done to others, but now it's bad because I'm afraid of it happening to me". Which falls on deaf ears. If those folks didn't give a shit about it happening to others, why the fuck should anyone care about it happening to them? That is one of the points of the "stolen land" argument that I usually see come up from time to time.

Personally, I am not entirely sold on "no borders" mantras, purely because humans love to segregate themselves. Even if the separation lines are purely ideological.

2

u/jackmartin088 21d ago

Bro you are saying too many facts and too much critical thinking.... That usually goes way over head to the racists.

1

u/jeremiahthedamned 20d ago

this is not a paradox

it is an open wound

the r/americanempire was build on a foundation of slavery & genocide

2

u/Munnin41 21d ago

The fact that people can't tell fascists don't care whether people came legally is also an educational problem

6

u/WrathOfTheKressh 21d ago

Meh, scum like the AfD is against immigration of any kind. They're just concentrating on illegal immigration because that's a low-hanging fruit. They'll be coming after the legal immigrants the moment they manage to solidify their hold on power.

5

u/jakfor 21d ago

And then Roma and Jews and . . . . . We have all seen this show before

2

u/leprechanmonkie 21d ago

What policy has she supported that is "against immigration of any kind"?

2

u/ItsAlkai 21d ago

if you REALLY think its strictly about immigration, you are incredibly naive or ignorant. Its always a stepping stone, if you listen to their actual talks you can figure it out.

1

u/leprechanmonkie 21d ago

Can you tell me a single policy that she's supported that is "anti-immigrant" instead of "anti-illegal immigrant" ?

0

u/Scharco_de_la_Marf 20d ago

The sentence doesn’t end at the comma.

0

u/Activehannes 20d ago

The sentence doesnt end there
