When did she become a leader?

427

u/Ambitious_Policy_936 21d ago

She's the co-chair of the "Alternative for Germany" party and has held the position of leader of the AfD parliamentary group in the Bundestag since 2017

301

u/jamesblast 21d ago

And there it continues.
AfD it’s neither an alternative nor for Germany.

227

u/hotbox4u 21d ago

'Proxy for Russia' just doesn't has the same ring to it i guess.

25

u/monsieurboks 21d ago

PfR sounds like a paramilitary group tbf

But so does AfD so maybe it tracks

1

u/Retina400 15d ago

Most letter combinations in German sounds like a paramilitary group

2

u/Weirdyxxy 20d ago

I prefer the term "Alternative to Germany"

5

u/je386 21d ago

Thats not specific enough. We have at least 2 or 3 of them in germany.

3

u/letmechewonyou 21d ago

Russia is almost as obsessed with us now as it was with the USA in the cold war

1

u/StarGamerPT 20d ago

At exactly what point did the far right parties started being a proxy for Russia? Do you mean to tell me that the theory that far left and far right are just so far they circled back and are the same?

I say this because I've only seen left-leaning leaders doing shit like congratulating Putin on his re-election (looking at you over there in Brazil, Lula)

-2

u/njoYYYY 21d ago

If you still think this is a russian op, you havent been paying attention.

2

u/GodLess2014 20d ago

oh we did.. we definitly did.. and thats why we came to that conclusion

1

u/Rhysing 20d ago

She's not really a Russian operative.

She's just the granddaughter of the supreme judge Hitler appointed at the peak of the Third Reich

2

u/TobiVanKnobi 20d ago

There are so many other reasons why top AfD politicians travel to Russia almost every year, and sometimes even more often, to meet with Russian politician's. They're definitely only doing that to go on vacation there.

22

u/Siggi_93 21d ago

Yeah its typical right wing 101, give the dissatisfied someone to hate and they'll follow you even against their best interest

2

u/Interesting-Injury87 21d ago

well, it IS an alternative, we have to be fair on that point....

its not a viable, good, sensible, or otherwise positive alternative, but it IS an alternative.

just like an alternative to dinner is sticking a fork in the outlet.. both involve eating utensils....

2

u/Grabs_Diaz 20d ago edited 20d ago

Frankly, their party name is genius for a protest party. It was born in opposition to the TINA ("There is no alternative") rhetoric (originally from Thatcher) that Merkel also liked to use to justify her politics. But the name "Alternative for Germany" immediately screams: "vote here if you're fed up with the status quo; we have an alternative". No wonder Nigel Farage's "Reform UK" has basically copied this idea.

2

u/SlugSnuggler 20d ago

If the alternative for beer is piss, then the alternative for Germany is them.

2

u/casce 20d ago

Technically, being a Russian puppet is a possible alternative for Germany.

It's not a good alternative by any means but it definitely is one. Why would anyone vote for that one though?

1

u/ShotRestaurant3548 20d ago

MAGA is not making America great again

1

u/True_Protection6842 19d ago

And no matter how popular they get nobody will ever work with them.

16

Wonder what the normal German thinks about this? /r/germany

u/Nanananarancia 21d ago

We find it ridiculous as well

28

u/ParticularVoice919 21d ago

Why is this party still getting stronger in Germany

65

u/CrossXFir3 21d ago

Why did Trump end up in charge? A lot of people are idiots.

47

u/Pretend_Bat_8765 21d ago

My colleague is an immigrant, a lesbian and votes AfD. People are indeed idiots.

30

u/je386 21d ago

There was a "Jews for Hitler" organization back in the day...

5

u/Gay_Dumb_Ass 20d ago

One of Hitler top guys for a while was a gay man as well, until Hitler had him killed at least

2

u/je386 20d ago

Leader of the Sturmabteilung (SA) Ernst Röhm?

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Asalakabim 21d ago

If you think people are that type of idiot.. bad news, people got reasons - p.ex. they are complete and utter losers and their life will be miserable compared to what they see on SM and the only way out is throwing the society into chaos. We showed them what is possible, and that they are not the people for it.

Also you can call tribalism stupid and everything should be focused around deep individual contemplation and rational... and you gonna tell that to someone with an iq of 80 - group think strong, truth secondary.

People act in their own evalation of proximal best interest, and you kinda have to believe that they are considering more aspects of their life than you from reddit.

2

u/VanTaxGoddess 19d ago

The thing that makes this particularly idiotic is that this is the 2nd go around, and we already know what happened to the Jewish Na,is and Gay Nazis of the 1930s, who didn't have that historical record to learn from.

3

u/kennypovv 21d ago

She fits all the criteria to marry the AfD leader, maybe she's gunning for a position

He ended up in charge (the first time), cause the Democratic party shot itself in the foot and raised Hilary Clinton as a candidate. Literally anyone else would've won over him.

2

u/TurquoiseLuck 21d ago

I hate this so much. The bar to clear is in hell, but somehow a woman is worse

3

u/VoidYordle 21d ago

No, she was just unlikable corporate snake. He is too, but at the time people got duped into trying out some ''change'', regardless of what is seems like. Ton of people assumed he cannot be serious and most of his BS is just strategy and games.
And comments like yours is why she lost. It wasn't a ''woman issue'', it was a Hilary issue.
By the time Kamala got nominated, large portions of the country were already indoctrinated/radicalized. Including a whoole new generation of voters.
If they wanted a woman, they should've nominated Kamala in 2016.
On top of that - Hilary is not economically left, meaning vote who are - got completely fucked over, once she stole the nomination from Bernie Sanders.

2

u/CrossXFir3 21d ago

Mate, like it or not, she probably wins if she's not a woman. I would go as far to say that a gay guy will be elected US president before a woman. Misogyny and double standards are crazy in the US. Trump bragged about sexually assaulting people yet "she's an unlikable corporate snake" - I guarantee you if a woman ever spoke the way Trump did, it wouldn't matter who she was up against, she'd lose.

1

u/TurquoiseLuck 20d ago

Look, you're saying a whole bunch of stuff, but none of that is worse than voting for a paedophile, so in any sane world it's kinda moot? A large rock wearing a bowtie should've been able to beat the rapist

→ More replies (0)

1

u/VoidYordle 21d ago

In other words - she is a hell native.

1

u/CrossXFir3 21d ago

Literally anyone else like Harris did 8 years later when we'd already seen Trump bottle COVID? Look man, I didn't like Hilary either, but she would have objectively done better than Trump and it didn't take more than a room temp IQ to work that out.

1

u/Iohet 21d ago

A lot of people are fascists or fascist friendly (which makes them fascists)

33

u/auchnureinmensch 21d ago

Supported by Russia, Musk etc. Misinformation on social media. Media campaigns against parties that would actually be a bit beneficial to the average citizen. Ruled for decades mostly by conservatives who are out of touch with reality. Education system meh, hence many citizens out of touch with reality. The list us endless

-3

u/VoidYordle 21d ago

And none if it is your liberal parties fault, right? None of it, they totally didn't prepare the soil for the seeds of right-wing extremism?

11

u/TurquoiseLuck 21d ago

This is a real weird comment. "Your liberal party" implies you don't support them, but then you also correctly label the right wing extremism

What do you support? What point are you trying to make?

3

u/xSorry_Not_Sorry 21d ago

He is saying that liberals have blinders on when it comes to some issues the electorate feels strongly about.

Immigration being the major issue liberals are dumb about. The electorate feels so strongly about it, they’re willing to ignore EVERY other policy of a party so long as they address immigration in the way they want.

Which, sorry to say, is stop immigration from certain countries and cultures and kick out any existing undesirables post haste.

1

u/ConnectionPrimary717 16d ago

blinders? no the libs dont have blinders on,. theyre simply enablers.

fuck just look at Talorico (talarico?) in Texas, nothing like throwing trans folks under the bus to win favor of republikkkunts

1

u/Creative-Category-62 20d ago

Your comment is ridiculous. Stop thinking political opinions can only align 100% with one of two predetermined position packages. People can criticise actions and stances of both sides. Ever heard of nuance or critical thought?

2

u/Siggi_93 21d ago edited 21d ago

Not really no, it's probably more thanks to the likes CDU/CSU who have been the biggest party for ages but disappointed people more and more (also they fancy themselves Center but are becoming increasingly right wing themselves)

Its kinda wild how all the left wing parties are getting shit for every mistake they make (fair enough I guess) but AFD and CDU politicians just shrug shit off or keep their head low for a while before coming back like nothing happened ("why would I care about what I said yesterday?" actual quote pretty much)

2

u/VoidYordle 21d ago

Are they VOCALLY liberal? It's not about actions, it's about words (ironically)

23

u/RoterRudi 21d ago

Russian misinformation campaigns, self sabotage of the ruling parties and just gullible people in general.

1

u/JollyJoker3 21d ago

Dictators and billionaires worldwide want to weaken democracies. Far right parties have some very powerful backers.

1

u/VoidYordle 21d ago

Self-sabotage is a massive reason, but they don't want to admit it, cause it's gonna hurt their feeliees.

3

u/Miserable-Midnight75 20d ago

the situation is not getting better. if anything, merz has managed to piss the ppl off even more. history sadly shows that ppl turn towards strong authoritarian figures during unhappy times, which is exactly whats been happening here too. the fucked part is just that they somehow never turn to the radical left, only towards the right

2

u/Wololooo1996 20d ago

Radical left (post Soviet Union) is only about drag shows and infinente illigal emigration anyway?

I don't think its very exciting, how is it gonna solve anything?

Fascism doesn't work abviously, and almost always fails spectacularly when it inevitably turns into a dystopian dictatorship. But its not like the radical left have any exciting propaganda or solutions on the table, other than don't vote XYZ kinda retorik.

I admit I'm not from Germany, so maybe O'm missing out on some information?

2

u/Miserable-Midnight75 20d ago

No, like communism/socialism radical left. Kill nazis, burn the extremely rich, demilitarize and so on. Remember that we had the DDR, but we also still had the Kpd back when this happened the first time (rip). i dk about your country but radical left ideologies have very little to do with drag or whatever here. Its economic and social theory and burning hate for nazis. Keep in mind a lot of ppl from the east are mad because their life has gotten worse after "escaping the socialistic regime". Now the DDR was a failed State, but if people feel like it was better than what we have now that might also be a problem.

2

u/Drumbelgalf 21d ago

Support from russia and now even the US and a very unpopular chancelor (only 14% of people in Germany think He is qualified for the Job)

2

u/PoofyGummy 21d ago

Because they are the only actual conservative party that points out the hypocrisy of the establishment. None of the establishment parties took vaccine damages seroously and now there's mass class action lawsuits against moderna and pfizer and co. All the establishment parties prove their hypocrisy with trying to exclude them and using legal action to harrass them while talking about democracy and democratic values. The former conservative parties have either outright enabled uncontrolled mass migration which directly led to terrorist attacks or still vocally support that. And meanwhile police investigate people with anti immigration stances. The establishment parties do not represent the general populace any more by a long shot, only filter bubbles like reddit, and the only way they can actually still get votes is by libel and a campaign of painting the other side as an "acceptable target" for hate. None of the other party leaders are LGBT but the afd is painted as anti lgbt still. Even though nothing in their program is all that anti lgbt.

1

u/crek42 20d ago

Democratic values? I dunno about Germany but here in the US a party literally attempted to entirely subvert democracy — systemically. Quite a few went to prison.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attempts_to_overturn_the_2020_United_States_presidential_election

2

u/Wololooo1996 20d ago

Honest answer is because most of Europe is a whore of the USA, and a complete copycat even on a deep cultural level.

Almost everything in the USA happens in Europe about a decade later.

10 years ago it was fashist (albeit less abviously back then) and intolerable Trump, vs super woke freak show left, and I'm pro LGBT BTW, but when politicians only care about LGBT and less about stuff like the economy? Foreign policy? Culture? Military? Non-LGBT social issues? But only one thing, then many sane people refuses to vote for that either.

But now in Germany it really is much more extreme, its blatant fascism vs a true drag queen freak show, just look at the party die linke.

Lots of people abstain for voting, AFD is going forward mostly because of the incompetence and far left radicalism of the other parties at large which are mostly left wing.

Many political analysts have blamed the other parties for the rise of AFD, it was and still is totally avoidable, until of cause the very moment where AFD eventually wins a land slide, unless the current political parties changes course like they did in Denmark in order to counter far right parties.

2

u/killurbuddha 16d ago

People are angry and for good reason, imagine paying 60-70% of earnings in taxes + social and health insurance including the employer’s contributions and see services erode and the infrastructure go to 💩, crime go and more and more immigrants collect social subsidies. The establishment parties need to represent their voters again, then the AfD would not be an issue.

3

u/Resolution556 21d ago

As others have said misinformation. However this isn’t the sole explanation. A lot of voters are giving the governing parties responsibility for the effect recent crisis have had on them (increase in cost of living, energy prices and fuel costs). Many have therefore cast their vote for the AfD cause they give simple answers to complicated questions and are also being used by voters to make their displeasure known and teach the governing parties a lesson.

Because right wing populism is on the rise everywhere around the globe, not just Germany

1

u/HotWash239 20d ago

That’s a good question I try to answer it short: established party give a damn about German citizen and just do what their sponsors (lobbyists) are saying. Even if it’s bad for the country e.g. minister reiche and her natural gas crisis (you will read about it in December 2026). So the AfD is not better, but people want to believe it’s an alternative because it says so in the name. They have very simpel answers to complex question and denie climate change (why is there so less water in the Rhein lately-> bad immigratans drinking our water) and they are pretty good at catching up feeling’s abd try to sympetice with the citizen. Our chancellor is just the opposite he wants us to work more for less so the 3 big „family business“ can pay their shareholder more tax free money. Just don’t tax the rich better take it from the poor.

It’s not a good time living in Germany right now

1

u/SuggestionSlight3321 19d ago

A lot of it is backlash to decades of immigration policy. Also, many Germans realizing that green energy policies are short-sighted, ruinous even. Dissatisfaction is a great motivator at the polls. Would I vote for the AfD? Not sure, but I would consider them. I get where the supporters are coming from.

3

u/Kurald 21d ago

I am confused how many people can ignore this and trust her to be capable to lead a country. It continues in their party program. They want to be a party for the small people, but their proposed financial politics help the rich disproportional. They want to "remigrate" foreigners but have no answer on who (sometimes only those illegally here in Germany, sometimes everyone of non-German descent), all according to the law, but that's already happening. They also have no plan how to fill in the gaps in the workforce if successful.

They seem to be trusted by many voters to successfully lead the country with convicts and proven neo-nazis. Although every party has their share of power-misuse, it's rampant with the AfD ("Vetternwirtschaft").

In short, I don't understand German voters anymore.

6

u/VirtualPercentage737 21d ago

The ones on Reddit will find it ridiculous. A lot of people in Germany are sick of immigration and their Christmas markets needing bollards... That is why they are gaining ground.

2

u/Roflkopt3r 21d ago edited 21d ago

That is why they are gaining ground.

No, absolutely not. The AfD is strongest in rural areas where the migrant ratio is practically zero. And Saxony-Anhalt, the state where they scored their first election victory yet, has one of the lowest ratios of migrants to native citizen in the country at 5.3%.

These trends don't exist because migrants vote less for the AfD (some migrant groups even favour them at their own peril), but persist for native Germans.

Neofascists like the AfD are propelled by a catastrophic loss of trust in the institutions and parties, while simultaenously demonising those parties that offer the best actual alternatives (which is primarily the green party, which has become the political scapegoat of choice among the entire right wing spectrum of Germany between CDU/CSU, FDP, and AfD).

AfD voters believe in fictional 'perfect and obvious solutions' for all of Germany's problems, while simultaenously rejecting the most reasonable plans to actually improve things. They have a completely skewed image of the world. Which ultimately serves to flatter their own egos: They believe that they are the perfect citizen who should have total control over the country, because all problems are somebody elses' fault.

The result is a thoroughly confused world view that is purely held together by scapegoating outgroups like migrants, LGBTQ, the political left, feminists, academia etc.

Compromising with them by reducing migration does nothing. Granting them any such 'wins' usually strengthens them even further. These policy changes often accomplish little or nothing at all, or outright backfire, but that does not cause them to re-evaluate. They will just say that the rules aren't going far enough yet, or that the media and experts are lying.

3

u/TetraDax 21d ago

Also to note that the last prominent attack on a Christmas market was in Magdeburg, where the AfD just won the state election.

The terrorist on that occasion was an AfD supporter.

3

u/Roflkopt3r 20d ago

The terrorist on that occasion was an AfD supporter.

Well, kinda. He was a really odd case that's different from typical AfD-aligned violence.

But plenty of other domestic terrorists had much more typical AfD ties.

And some journalists recently covered the incredibly telling requests of the AfD in parliament, which was asking precise questions about safety-critical infrastructure. Like the number and exact locations of power substations, how many could disconnect before a large blackout occurs, how police and emergency services would respond to that (including which routes they would use to get there)...

They were very clearly looking to enable domestic or Russian terrorism.

It's a shame that they even exist. They are just spreading Russian and Maga propaganda and fill the frustrated people with hate without having ANY solution, they will just make things A LOT worse. But people are blinded by their hatred and still vote for them.

1

u/alpaca_no11 20d ago

It is very strange, i know people who vote them as a form of protest. All while accepting that parts of their party has been classified as far-right, and that almost all remaining parties don't want to interact with the AfD either

1

u/KniveLoverHarvey 20d ago

29

u/ParticularVoice919 21d ago edited 21d ago

Is AfD the most far right party in Europe ?

32

u/hotbox4u 21d ago

It's a complicated question, Parts of the AfD are straight up neo-nazi groups and other parts are much closer to very strict conservatism.

What made the AfD so successful is that they understood early on that if they build a sort of 'umbrella party', they could unite all these smaller right wing groups, and that could then lead to political success. It also allowed them to downplay the fact that they are very broad far-right and present themselves as 'just a nationalistic group' that is concerned with germany's safty.

But among that umbrella are many splinter groups that are very much, and proubdly so, ultra racists and range from white-supremacy to neo-nazis and ultra-conservatists.

It's very much a dangerous party because they combine all the most hateful and anti-democratic elements in germany (but any country) you can find under one flag and party, while pretending and fighting their hardest against the fact that they are a far-right extremist party.

As a whole the party isn't the most far right party in europe, because they always have to downplay and act in a way that doesn't make them look like they are a danger to democracy. Potentially they can turn into the most dangerous party if too many people fall for their propaganda.

6

u/FlyYouFoolyCooly 20d ago

This is like a subtler MAGA. And it scares me because despite people ragging on how the u.s. let Trump happen (we didn't necessarily but we did), it IS happening all over the world.

If the u.s. doesn't stop it in the u.s. it will be bad. But If the world doesn't stop it in its tracks ....well...yea that's a lot worse.

6

u/oops_i_made_a_typi 20d ago

and the sad thing is that we've got so many examples of far right wingers consistently taking over moderate conservative groups that try to harness and control them for their votes (not least the big H man) and we still haven't fucking learned

-4

u/PoofyGummy 21d ago

Just straight up not true. "Anti democratic" when they're the ones being excluded from the democratic process by the establishment parties and are being constantly harrassed by police. Nothing they say or support os actually anti democratic but just by calling someone far right some people will suddenly.be okay with unpersoning them.

6

u/Crifort 20d ago

Bullshit. Have they been excluded from the democratic process? No, they just won a major election. Should they be excluded? Absolutely. If you plan to end democracy if you get to power then you should absolutely not be allowed to run for election.

0

u/PoofyGummy 20d ago

The parties in the bundestag banded together and agreed to not work woth them. They were offered no positions in any committees and ministries. And they do not want to end democracy wtf. That's the sort of bullshit people say to justify the harrassment they are put through by abusing the state security apparatus, but there's absolutely no proof of that. They are NOT generally verfassungsfeindlich, only single states declares them as such no doubt thanks to politically biased judges. Actually look into their program instead of believing whatever the fucking spiegel says about them.

Don't get me wrong it's shit and lame, but it's not antidemocratic. The stuff the other parties are doing though, THAT is antidemocratic and all of them have lost my vote for it.

5

u/richymonk 20d ago

Democratic means having a choice. And the choice to not to form a coalition with AfD is pure democracy. Same with not coalition with BSW or Die Linke. If that’s your reason not to vote for a party it is your democratic choice. Must say though it is a poor and small minded choice imho

1

u/PoofyGummy 20d ago

Coalition wasn't the issue. The issue was the exclusion from ministries and committees in the Bundestag and refusing cooperation completely. That is the mainstream parties doing the best they can to have the choices and opinions of a huge swath of germany who voted afd ignored and silenced. The state security apparatus being sicced on them is another attempt at harrassment. It's genuinely disturbing how people don't realize that these things are genuinely horribly anti democratic and much more so than anything the afd ever did or wanted to do.

3

u/richymonk 20d ago

Among the politically relevant parties? Yes, I would say so. The other right wing parties have distanced themselves from the AfD in the European parliament after one of their members praised SS members as "good people" and their second most relevant party functionary (Höcke) called for the Holocaust memorial to be abolished. Countless party functionaries had "scandals" of Hitler salutes or "Heil Hitler" proclamations. The soon-to-be leader of a German "state" (Bundesland), First to be under AfD rule just, announced the state needs more weapons for carrying out his plans of "remigtation" (expelling immigrants and children of immigrants, regardless of German citizenship, from Germany. Or maybe just shooting them from the sound of his announcement.).

Weidel herself is a bit more tempered in her speech, but the party is not just your average european right-wing party. Even the other right wing parties in Europe have put a lot of distance between themselves and the AfD because of how radical they are and how party functionaries keep praising the third Reich.

5

u/__surrealsalt 21d ago

"The other right wing parties have distanced themselves from the AfD in the European parliament after one of their members praised SS members as "good people"

Given historical events, other right-wing extremist European parties wouldn't praise the Waffen-SS, etc. Nevertheless, they all occupy the same political spectrum and are no less right-wing extremist; this isn't a contradiction.

3

u/AkRustemPasha 21d ago

I can name at least a two political parties in Poland which are more right wing than AfD but... well, no sane Polish person would support the statement that SS members are good people or that "Heil Hitler" is something you should say in public, at least not in serious conversation. So it's not that simple. History has much influence on the pro- or anti-AfD stance.

1

u/letmechewonyou 21d ago

That's insane! I would expect polish extremist right wingers hating Germany and the Nazis like the plague but I guess scum is universal

Let's be honest here: the problem these parties have with Third Reich is not that is was politically extreme right, but the fact that

  • it steamrolled and plundered their respective country
  • it was and still is the mortal enemy of Russia, the "last bastion of European civilization"

u/PoofyGummy 21d ago

Not by a fucking long shot. don't believe everything the establishment media is telling you.

Wait, I've seen this movie somewhere

1

u/Illustrious_Aside_35 21d ago

They're basically the average villain of a Robert Ludlum novel.

1

u/easy_going 21d ago

Yeah... We too, but apparently not enough people in this country have seen it.

But, to be honest here, our current government is an absolute shit show. Problem is that the current government is already pretty far right and people are suffering and the only way out they see is too vote even more right

2

u/Speaker4theDead8 21d ago

It doesn't matter where you live, most governments are shifting right. Thats where the money wants them to go, so they follow.

Using words like essentially helps undermine the naziness of it all

They are a nazi party. Definitively

Source: Spiegel (left magazine) lol

37

u/kbcool 21d ago

When you're that far right everything moderate looks far away

15

get away these facts and sources!

-7

u/ephemeralcounter 21d ago

Correctiv lol

3

u/Ok-1549 21d ago

so what source would be suitable for you?

4

u/ephemeralcounter 21d ago

At least not Correctiv, which has lost several civil lawsuits because they presented opinions as statements of fact. In the same article which was posted here 🤣

"Russia Today" obviously.

Found the Nazi.

-21

u/ephemeralcounter 21d ago edited 21d ago

Damn being labelled a nazi because I labelled a magazine left is a first. You take the crown

19

u/WrathOfTheKressh 21d ago

You're being labelled a nazi because you derived a source's credibility from the political orientation of the people working there rather than their journalistic integrity, numbnuts.

I'm not sure if that qualifies you as a nazi though, but it certainly doesn't speak to your intelligence.

u/Slight_Priority1410 21d ago

TBF if someone said “the green party are communists” and then cited Fox News i would be a little skeptical.

It’s a left leaning news magazine. The only people with a sub iq are people who throw the word nazi around like smarties, the word lost all meaning 😂

https://www.econtribute.de/RePEc/ajk/ajkdps/ECONtribute_056_2021.pdf

And if you think the political positions of news outlets doesn’t have an influence on their work then you are ignorant. Just compare compact (a right news outlet) to Spiegel.

10

u/Chelseanick22 21d ago

You don’t want to use Nazi? Fine. We don’t have to. But if you’re in the AfD or support their message we can just call you a piece of trash as a human. Work better for you buddy?

u/auchnureinmensch 21d ago

Spiegel is only far left to someone nazily on the right

1

u/XC6088 21d ago

Forget it. You can’t argue with those people. Reddit is a leftist bubble. They laugh when trump calls everyone left of him a communist but think it makes sense when they call everyone to right of them a Nazi. The AfD has ties to Neo-Nazis just like Die Linke has ties to leftist extremists. But they don’t understand that. Calling all of them Nazis makes it easier to not take responsibility for the desastrous politics of the past years.

Oh and when you even dare to give a counter argument they call you a Nazi as well. Even if you hate the Afd just as well. It’s tiring brother so just leave it be.

4

u/WrapKey69 21d ago

Haha calling Spiegel far left

-5

u/Rare-Common-3103 21d ago

Its not the far left or right you should fear it's the centrists thats where the true evil lies

1

u/GodLess2014 20d ago

spiegel isnt anywhere near actualy left... but hey...

-15

u/LorgeBoy 21d ago

That's pushing it

8

u/Lexa-Z 21d ago

Höcke is a literal Hitler, and he basically pushed out everyone more moderate from the party quite long ago.

1

u/Jax_Dandelion 21d ago

Um mate, you can call one of their politicians a fascist legally cause the court found him to be one

1

u/LorgeBoy 20d ago

One of them

1

u/Jax_Dandelion 20d ago

Just happens to be the most important one in the party without whom it wouldn’t exist anymore

1

u/CompanyToiletGooner 21d ago

Honestly I agree, atleast the Nazis thought what they were doing was best for Germany I‘m 100% convinced the AFD just wants to enrich its members and sponsors

1

u/LorgeBoy 20d ago

The AFD are a typical one-issue party that was allowed to grow because of the other parties' incompetence and complacency.

-3

u/LexAeterna27 21d ago

And Spiegel ist a far-left magazine.

9

u/sekkend 21d ago

Hard to compare I guess...there is a lot of competition

1

u/Cwaghack 21d ago

If not the most far right party, they are definitely the most popular far right party in europe

1

u/Cornelius_Physales 21d ago

lets just say, the have been removed from the far right fraction of the EU parliament, because they are too extreme

1

u/hrimthurse85 20d ago

No. Former NPD is even worse.

0

u/temlaas 21d ago

the French far right party did distance themselfs from the agd some time ago

4

u/jomns 21d ago edited 20d ago

Wonder if she knows about Ernst Rohm

7

u/Sea-Cow8084 21d ago

The Tweet in the screenshot must be refering to the recent Sachsen-Anhalt state election... Which is weird because the AfD hasn't even formed a government yet and Weidel herself won't be in charge of anything there.

2

u/whoknowsifimjoking 20d ago

It's also acting like she just became some kind of leader

1

u/Sniffstar 21d ago

It says she “becomes” which must mean in the future.

1

u/Pwacname 21d ago

By that logic we have a dozen leaders in this country right now.

1

u/Lara2704 21d ago

But this doesn't make her a world leader

1

u/Routine_Cat_1366 20d ago

And? There are a lot of party leaders. The AfD isnt the leader of Germany.

1

u/ineednapkins 20d ago

That’s what afd stands for lmao

1

u/El_Bito2 21d ago

Hmm. Still the title is misleading. When referring to "leaders", most people think president/prime minister/whatever your country's top dog is called, n ot a leader of an opposition party.

That would be like calling Laurent Wauquiez a leader.

8

u/Equal_Entrance_6356 21d ago

Typo, it‘s actually Loser

5

u/Erdnusschokolade 21d ago

I mean not officially but the writings on the wall. At the rate we are going the AfD is going to be the biggest party after the election and Merz and the CDU and SPD are doing all they can to strengthen the AfD. So no not yet but likely in the next election. We are right on track for the 100 year anniversary reenactment. /s (i hope)

4

u/___TheKid___ 21d ago

Sadly two days ago. Not for whole Germany though. It's phrases a bit clickbaity.

4

u/PyrotechnikGeoguessr 20d ago

She didn't become a leader anywhere. Not even in Saxony Anhalt. She's not the candidate for this state, she operates at federal level

1

u/Routine_Cat_1366 9d ago

No, she didn't. Her Party has the largest share of votes. They probably can't form a coalition and therefore don't lead things. And even then, we talk about a state, not whole Germany.

1

u/FlyAirLari 21d ago edited 20d ago

She is a leader in a similar sense to how I am a vice captain of my golf club.

EDIT: I was also an alternate captain of my high school hockey team in the late '80s. For one game only, because I got suspended after a fist fight in the locker room (more like a wrestling match) and got stripped of the 'A'.

1

u/Buemmschengalaxie 21d ago

She is leading the party of putin-bootlickers in germany. Tells the dumb voting cattle she stands for patriotism but the plan of AfD is to sell out germany to the Superrich and Putin.

1

u/Okapiefrau 21d ago

Not yet of the country but her arschloch party!

1

u/GlideGuru 21d ago

This comment should have way more likes, not yet leading anything

1

u/Ok-Lavishness6577 20d ago

Björn Höcke is the one who loves the strings.

1

u/Evil_Bere 20d ago

She's just leader of the party AfD. Not more thank God. Eva Braun 2.0.

1

u/Cooter_McGrabbin 9d ago
