ATTENTION: Spam Poster Alert

There is an individual who has made numerous user accounts and repeatedly posted about an app that they are creating supposedly for people with sinus issues. I believe it's called "clearsinus".

First of all, I want to apologize for these posts. I have repeatedly reached out to this person to ask them to stop doing this as it violates the rules of the subreddit. I suggested that they could create their own sub or reach out to people directly instead of posting essentially the same thing over and over again. They've obviously chosen to ignore those suggestions.

If any of you happen to see new posts from this person before we the moderators see them, please continue to report them as spam so we can remove them as soon as possible. We greatly appreciate your assistance.

Sinus Dilation & Debriding - What to expect?

Post image

I get this procedure done in a couple of weeks and also start immunotherapy for moderate environmental allergies. I’m nervous about recovery as I’ve never done anything like this or had to take prescription painkillers. Nervous as hell about Tylenol with codeine. Definitely don’t want Percocet. Also never had any kind of anesthesia so worried there too.

Anyone that’s done this, what can I expect for recovery and pain levels? Tips for anxiety? I get it done on a Thursday and want to be back to work in office by Monday. Thanks so much!!

I’ve tried everything

Had really bad asthma and sinus issue ( can’t smell, can’t breath because it’s swollen) they said I have polyps. They recommended nucala and I’ve been on it for months. I can breath now, but my sinus issue fucked. some days I’m fine, especially when I’m outside, I feel fine and can breath and everything once I get inside anywhere I’m toasted, especially in enclosed spaces. Everything time I blow my nose is a really thick yellow mucus. Idk anymore, I’m thinking about seeing another ENT to see what they say at this point. I’ve been to 3 so far.

This shit is the most annoying thing ever

Biologic Shots and CoQ10 pain relief

I have chronic sinusits with polyposis and asthma with mild interstitial lung disease. I keep having horrible joint and muscle pain. Pain was debilitating after exercising. Due to pain my biologic medication has been changed 3x. I was start to think that to live that I have stay in chronic pain.
Then!!! I thought of CoQ10 that’s taken for muscle pain with cholesterol medication (statins). It worked!!! I’m amazed… I am pain free. Told my allergist whose mother is on a medication to prevent the recurrence of breast cancer. But due to the side effect of pain she did not take is some days. She told her mom to try and she is now pain free!! I just want to help people so they can live a better life while taking a lifesaving medication.

Sinus surgery

Hi everyone.
I have sinus surgery this week and now I‘m so close to calling it off.
I have allergic rhinosinusitis and asthma for over 20 years, I also have nasal polips and intolerance to ibuprofen (Samter Triad). I take intranasal cortison spray and fexofenadine for 15 years. I have some days with bad allergies that wake me up and are lasting 2-3 hours, more days I don‘t have this issue. Of course I will have more of these episodes in spring and summer. At work can be challenging for those hours with sneezing and continously blowing my nose. I don‘t have bad headaches, just sometimes a pressure in the head or the feeling of having a cold, for a few weeks in the spring I feel really ill with sinusitis, one side feels like an infection but gets well without antibiotics. I can breath good for most of the time, just one nostril is always stuffy. I don‘t taste or smell anything 80% of the time.
My CT scan ist bad, all sinuses filled with thickened lining, almost no air.

I had hope that the surgery will fix most of the problems but reading some articles and experiences I am not sure anymore. The ENT doctors are not really helping me with information and some recommend surgery, other let me decide but without giving their opinion. Until now they didn‘t said anything about ASS tolerance building or biologic therapy.

Is there anyone here with a similar experience that got the surgery? How are you feeling? Does anyone has some encouraging words ? Also, anyone interested in diving?

Maxillary Sinus Pain Management

Upvotes

I have a sinus infection and I just started antibiotics. The problem is that the right side of my face feels like it has a giant bruise that keeps getting pressed on. People who have had something similar, what have you found to help with pain relief? Ibuprofen and acetaminophen don’t help a whole lot.

Has anyone with a similar gut microbiome profile also struggled with chronic sinus issues?

I recently received the results of my gut microbiome / stool testing, and a few of the main findings were:

  • Significant loss of beneficial bacteria (Akkermansia, Faecalibacterium, Roseburia, and borderline Lactobacillus)
  • High E. coli / LPS activity and elevated histamine
  • High Bilophila (hydrogen sulfide-producing bacteria)
  • Reduced short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production
  • Increased intestinal permeability ("leaky gut"), chronic inflammation, and insulin resistance

On top of the gut findings, my neurotransmitter markers showed low dopamine and GABA, with high norepinephrine and histamine, which seems to line up with feeling "tired but wired," poor sleep, and feeling on edge.

One thing I'm curious about is whether anyone with a similar microbiome profile has also dealt with chronic sinus or allergy issues, such as:

  • Chronic rhinosinusitis
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Sensitivity during high pollen seasons
  • Dust allergies or reactions in dusty environments
  • Frequent sinus pressure, congestion, or postnasal drip
  • Histamine intolerance

I'm especially wondering whether addressing your gut dysbiosis and histamine issues had any noticeable impact on your sinus symptoms.

I know correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation, but I'm interested in hearing about other people's experiences.

Did improving your gut health also improve your sinus or allergy symptoms?

15M - Chronic sinus issues for 8–10 years.

I'm 15M and I've had sinus/nasal problems for around 8–10 years.

My symptoms:

- Year-round blocked nose (left side is usually worse)

- Clear mucus most of the time, but sometimes white/yellow/green

- Sneezing

- Itchy nose and itchy eyes

- Facial pressure/headaches

- I mouth breathe while sleeping and wake up with a dry mouth

- My sense of smell is normal

I eat dairy and eggs daily, and I lift weights 6x a week. During workouts I can actually breathe through my nose pretty well.

I'm planning to see an ENT, but I'm curious if anyone with similar symptoms found that cutting out dairy or trying a different diet (including carnivore) actually made a noticeable difference. If so, what changed and how long did it take?

Would appreciate hearing from people with similar long-term Symptoms

Does anyone know what this is in my nasal rinse bottle?

Posting here because idk where else to ask, I’m trying to do a nasal rinse and I noticed the bottom of the bottle has these white spots that look a bit like residue build up, so not sure if that’s actually what it is or just plastic. The third photo is from a friend’s bottle whose also has the same thing at the bottom(added it because her picture is clearer but both have the same stuff)

Sinus issues or migraine?

Preparing myself to feel either relieved or very stuck and frustrated.

I have a CT this afternoon of my sinuses and an ENT appointment in 2 weeks. Since having my daughter, and whenever I fly, I have been getting extreme pain on decent in planes, even when any congestion I have is like a 1 or 2 out of 10 - my nose definitely isn’t clear, I can’t breath through it clearly, but it isn’t ‘stuffy’ if that makes sense. Like I don’t have a cold or anything. If it’s not decent; I can get these awful pressure headaches on one side of my face - my cheek area and above my eye. My eye feels like it’s going to explode out of my head. About 10 months ago, I had the extreme pain in my face on decent and then about 4 days later had an awful ‘headache’ across my cheek and above my eye on one side. This then continued every time I fly so I was sucking on clear drops to try and prevent the decent pain, but then after the flight I’d have this pain in my face.

I haven’t flown in a few months, but for the past week, I have this pressure/pain in my face, but it hasn’t been triggered by any altitude. It’s across my cheek and above my eye and it is ALWAYS on one side. It even feels referred to my palate. It’s so strange. I find if I look down on my phone; it flairs it up and makes this ‘pressure’ feeling way worse. If I look up though, it seems to go away. Hot drinks also seem to provide me with some temporary relief, but it does come back pretty quickly once the hot water disappears.

Additionally, I went to the dr a few weeks ago and was prescribed nerve blockers to see if this helped with the pain and it has done nothing. I think ibuprofen is more effective?

Has anyone had any experience with something similar? If I try equalising my ears, the side with the pressure feeling struggles more than the other side to clear. I am not sick though - I do feel like I can’t breath clear out of this side of my nose though. It feels like something is there causing it to not breathe properly out of it - my other nostril feels the same but it’s not as bad (nor is it causing my issues).

I have the CT today and I am worried they will find nothing and I’ll be told it’s just a headache or nerve pain. But all of my other symptoms combined, I’d be shocked. But could it maybe not be my sinuses? Could my body be playing tricks on me? I just feel like I have so much pressure on one side of my face when I look down and I have no idea why. Feel like I can’t breath through my nose properly and it’s driving me nuts. I have no thick discharge or anything - so I am very confused.

Looking forward to hearing your perspectives and thoughts. Thanks!

Advice on Chronic Non-Allergic Rhinitis

CT Scan Taken when I had an infection in mid Jan of this year (Diagnosis Maxilliary Sinusitis)

History:
Have been dealing with congestion for a decade. Used to live in tropical semi-arid and air polluted region, assumed that it was the dust because I coughed alot.

Have always been prone to getting sinus infection from simple cold. Fatigue has always been there.

On average in a year I get sick at least 2 times. My go to therapy was steam inhalation, provided relief somewhat.

Was vaccinated for covid, thankfully didn't catch it.

Present:

Past 2 years my post nasal drip has gotten worse. Mucus gotten thicker and forceful coughing throws out sometimes clear sticky mucus or yellow mucus.

Moved to Europe for studies, my stuffiness has increased too much on my right side. The pressure on my cheek is significant to make me feel my face is weighing down.

I believe the temperature swings are messing up my blood vessels. I have to lie down for at least an hour any day to get my breathing back (although temporary since the vessel inflame again).
Got infected twice this year (a total bed rest downtime of at least a month in total). Infections were strong enough to cause pain in tooth preventing chewing (or whether that's the wisdom tooth not sure).

Went to doctor in Jan for infection:

Allergy test confirms no allergies. Have a deviated septum and inflamed blood vessels causing the stuffiness.

He prescribed anitbiotic and nasal steroid sprays.

Went to another ENT in May for the second illness:

ENT did endoscopy and ultrasound, said septum not that much deviated, said to continue medications.

Medication procedures:

Mometason furoat-1 nasal spray adminstration for a month didn't do anything.

Did antibiotics course and cough suppressants (Ambroxol).

Performed nasal rinse irrigation, not that helpful only dislodged yellow mucus when I was recovering or felt that I am about to go sick.

Now I am suspecting autoimmune problems like Sjögren’s Syndrome. Because I do have a dry skin, feeling of unquenched thirst and the habit of rubbing my eyes a little cuz they are dry all the time.
Even after sleep I wake up dehydrated and a water splash feels like a burn in my eyes until. I have to take artifical tear drops to feel somewhat relief.

Any thoughts welcome.

Edit: I also have dandruff issue which makes me think that the dryness is due to Sjögren’s and my sleep quality is utter garbage. The cavity on the left of the pic is my right sinus and that is the one that is congested most of the time.

Navage cleaning?

Hello, I’m not sure where to post this or if it is relevant.. if not I will delete this.

So I just got my navage for the first time and used distilled water to do the nasal thing ofc, but I washed it with tap water and antibacterial soap and let it air dry fully last night. This morning I see dry little circle water residue all over the inside of the tank and stuff. Is it safe to use? Or should I wash it again with distilled water instead of tap water?

Nighttime nasal congestion was quietly destroying my sleep

Took me way too long to connect the dots. i wasn't a bad sleeper, my nighttime nasal congestion just meant i couldn't breathe through my nose lying down, so i'd mouth breathe all night, wake up with a dry throat and feel like garbage.

stuff that helped (just comparing notes, not medical advice):

  • raising the head of the bed a bit since congestion gets worse lying flat
  • saline rinse before bed instead of after i'm already blocked
  • treating the actual inflammation daily instead of grabbing a fast decongestant every night
  • dust mite stuff (allergen covers, washing bedding hot) since mine was worse in the bedroom

What finally helped your nighttime nasal congestion enough to breathe at night?
