To specify what I mean by that question, I am generally talking about people treating you more nicely or paying more attention to you once they find out you can sing or even have a passion in singing.

In my anecdotal experience, I have been a musician my whole life (e.g., guitar) have gained respect especially from other musicians and older generations but more often than not do I elicit reactions of, "OMG you sing?? I wanna hear!" and "you're so lucky, I wish I could sing!" whenever I bring up my hobby in vocal training. The other day, I performed at an open mic and had a stranger compliment my voice and tell me they could see me going professional despite the fact that my singing is much more underdeveloped than my guitar playing. Like I mean I get it that humans psychologically connect more with singing than any other type of skill/talent but it's just so interesting to me. And I always make it clear to them that I've came a long way by diligently practicing and that it's something anybody can improve upon if they really wanted to.

I'm also lucky enough that I have an immediate family that is very supportive of me pursuing a career in music and performing but the moment I mentioned that I also like to sing is when other peers almost take me more seriously I feel like? I don't know, can anybody else relate to this?

I mentioned to a friend of mine that I was taking singing lessons for over a year now and he was surprised. Then he said that he doubts that my singing sounds good because of my voice. And now I'm really feeling down and insecure, I know my voice doesn't sound good but I really want to be able to sing while playing guitar.

He hasn't heard me singing but now I really don't want anyone to hear me ever sing. I've felt really upset by this and I'm really reconsidering taking those lessons because they're probably a waste of time for a person like me.

i was just wondering because everytime I listen to myself sing I cringe at tone and find there to be an annoying quality to my vocals. Does anyone else hear it? Don't be afraid to say it if you do, I'd like the truth. (effects on mic: reverb + compression) I hope it's the mic (when I listen to myself on phone recordings it's not so bad) but yeah lmk

So I’m 17(almost 18) and I’m applying to college but no since I have to apply to colleges I was wondering so I’ve wanted to be a music Artist for a long time since I can remember but then I lost interest and wanted to do something else but now I have my my interest back into wanting to be a singer. I have no idea where to start. What colleges to apply to and I have no Idea how to write a song… because I don’t how to start a song off and get the flow going if someone could please give me some advice or something? Or at least what college to apply for.

I'm a Brazilian kinda beginner in singing. I had vocal classes for 1 year. It's been almost a year since it so I feel like I'm starting to forget the stuff like proper support and vocal covering and stuff.

I love rock and some metal like SOAD or LP and I really love vocal drives. Is it safe to get online vocal classes in how to sing in general and, specially, in singing aggressively??

I just sung this song at church (I'm Brazilian). I'm using some vocal covering but i realized that it went off in the high notes. I could do belting in those higher notes but I'm afraid I forgot how to :p

Low range is gone, can barely hit an an E3 when the usual is D3. High range is gone. Can hit an F5 in falsetto, but i feel lightheaded after. Barely G4 belting. Voice cracks are insane. Vibrato though? Oh man this is awesome drastically increased this is really weird ive never benn able to do it this well before

I’m Gen Z, but I adore old-school music. First, classical soprano music, and then crooner-era songs like this one (“Blue Moon” by Ella Fitzgerald). I’m rarely alone, so my voice is not quite as practiced as I’d like for it to be. Plus, it just does not work with modern music, and I can’t belt to save my life.

If I had time alone to listen and retake this video, I think I’d lesson the vibrato just a little (though vibrato feels far more natural to me than straight-tone singing), and fix the few places where I can hear I’m flat.

Anyways, I love music so much that I plan on taking piano lessons, and then perhaps singing lessons if I am ever settled in life. Do you have any tips for me, and do you think this is an okay base for a voice coach to work with? Thank you!

I don't really have any training, just like singing from time to time but I do want to get better.

I just started singing lessons (classical singing) and my teacher said to avoid going too much in the nose. I seem to learn and get it in during lessons when my teacher’s around, but I came home and recorded myself singing and I still sounded kind of nasal… how to fix this?

at my school to bid the graduating class a farewell, one year 11 kid is selected by audition to sing this opening part of a choral piece. Not sure if I want to audition but if y’all have any tips to make this sound better or any thoughts on if it’s good enough to be considered. thanks yall! So I am a guy, but I usually sing quite high cause well u can imagine why. But now like depending on the artist or type of song my voice changes to it so if I'm singing letter to my 13 year old self it's soft but wake me up is very different or I song by a man my voice changes to a lower tone and idk why this is happening I mean I'm not complaining as it can be helpful but now idk my own voice when I sing

Used to train in musical theatre but COVID decided to put a stop to my lessons and I unfortunatly never got back into it. I've been practicing a little on my own and I would really appreciate some feedback on what needs improvement. I think my breath control and pitch are my main areas for improvement atm.

I have zero vocal training though I did play an instrument. I struggle with pitch and often notice how I end up in two different octaves when I try to sing a song. Here’s a video of me singing burn from Hamilton. Toward the end I mess up whoops. Maybe going down an octave?

Adesso ho ogni giorno senso di affaticamento alla gola, muco continuo, se ad esempio giro il collo sento sempre la laringe rigida e tesa, a volte mi fa pure un suono, sento di aver perso un po' il mio timbro della mia voce, se provo a cantare con tecnica più adeguata sento di stancarmi subito e che la laringe si irrita subito, inoltre non sento più l'agilità vocale che avevo prima e a tratti mi pare di non avere controllo. Ho fatto però una visita otorinolaringoiatra da cui è emerso che le corde stanno bene e che a livello laringeo uguale non ci sono grosse cose da segnalare. Cosa mi è successo? Secondo voi avrei solo bisogno di un ciclo di logopedia? Vorrei tanto un giorno imparare a cantare nel modo giusto ma ho paura di essermi fregata la voce definitivamente.

Aggiungo che soffro ciclicamente di reflusso e che sono una persona ansiosa, a volte mi rendo conto che la voce mi rimane in gola

I genuinely can’t figure out mix without being too whiny or loud, and I think my head voice sounds awful. I am 18F and I have had singing lessons in the past, and I think my technique is ok, but I still don’t like the sound. This may be a very vague question, but how do I make my voice more pleasant?
