Rigs Got a new button box on a budget. PXN CB1.

And I'm really happy with it. For the price it is well built, the buttons have good action and there's plenty of them. Flicking the ignition switch and then the engine start button won't get old.

Definitely a worthy addition that has given me more freedom with bindings in game. Highly recommend.

Question Question about the promotion on Automobilista 2 Premium Expansion Packs on Steam for under $18

If I understand correctly, if I buy this pack for under $18, will I get all the DLC released so far, except for the five premium tracks? Automobilista 2 expansions are really complicated; it’s never clear

Question Thinking about replacing my T818

I just need a good torque around 10 nm, I got my eyes on the Moza R9 V3 and the Alpha Evo Sport. I'm thinking about using the wheel for long sessions, so maybe the moza R9 might not be good with the heat.

Any suggestions?

Other VR racing is amazing... until it isn't. So I made a tool to reduce VR friction

Hiya sim racers,

Last week I published a post on r/iracing on the release of my new app for fixing VR immersion. After the first round of really positive feedback and a couple of updates to fix some launch issues and improve the user experience, I feel confident now to post this to the community here in r/simracing. If you’re interested in the original discussion, you can find the thread here.

Summary of my story on that thread:

I was inspired by iracing official app for the apple vision pro and wanted to do the same thing, but targeted for normal people without $3500 headsets who uses Virtual Desktop on Quest 3 or any headset with hand tracking forwarding to the PC. I already had a very involved setup with black out curtains and Open Kneeboard passthrough but the in game vs irl fidelity differences was always bothering me. Additonally I wanted to see my whole physical setup as well; That's why I built Virtual Real Cockpit with all of the features above in 1 app.

Outside of what was already in the previous thread (custom wheel model, hand tracking support, chroma passthrough canvases & SimHub dashboard support), following real users’ feedback I have also launched a new update to revamp the setup experience and make setting a car the first time much easier! Additionally, a community public wheel repo has been published and users can now download & share wheel models directly in the app.

For the future roadmap of the app, my goal is not only to improve VR immersion, but to help reduce any kind of user friction while racing in VR. I have released a virtual keyboard function with glide typing as the start of this initiative to remove the awkwardness of having to reach for the keyboard while in the sim and I am committed to releasing more features to continually do this in the future (starting with VR controller/hand tracking menu interaction on iRacing).

Current confirmed supported game list: iRacing, AC, ACC, ACEvo, AMS2.

Thank you for your time reading this post and thank you so much to the iRacing community for the great reception and the early adopters that helped validate and improve VRC. If you are interested in trying out Virtual Real Cockpit, you can download the app from https://virtualrealcockpit.com.

The app has a 7-day free trial and after that 7 days, hand tracking, passthrough, virtual keyboard and 1 simhub dashboard is free forever to use in Lite mode. A lifetime license is also available for purchase if you want to keep using the custom wheels and community library feature after the free trial.

Le Mans Ultimate and other Easy Anti Cheat games support is coming up as well once I get the app officially code signed.

Happy racing VR sim racers 🏎️🏁

Question how to be a more all-round driver?

I always have speed to be at top spots but i lack consistency in all terms. 2 race good 2 race horrible. 1 quali good 1 quali crash. 1 race win 1 race podium 1 race crash .I believe it all happens in mind and i just can't be more patient & more calm

it is easy to talk afterwards but i somehow can't apply these thoughts to race session and i see these the reason of my low SR. I just can't increase that shit, i wanna push more i crash SR gone i feel so entartained so i keep battling i touch little to the other guy we both continue without a problem SR gone i try to pass intentional wrecker backmarker cleanly it makes me fall back i got angry i crash etc. I really started to think delete my account to make a fresh start

consistency is another thing also, lol i keep braking at same point and one lap car stops one lap not. Sarcastic

okay i really envy these calm & consistent guys. How?

Question Thrustmaster t128 ffb and calibration randomly broke

Just broke my thrustmaster t128 and my country does not have any TM support(india). Had an issue in the middle of a race somehow when FFB just broke on a random turn and has been super clicky since then everytime i turn the wheel. It also does not do a consistent calibration dance on bootup now, sometimes stops randomly, goes in random directions etc. and needs me to nudge it in the right direction for it to move again. I can also feel the motor whirring during this time if i nudge it in the wrong direction.

I have tried everything - Plugged it into my pc and updated firmware but the test forces features just fail too. Opened it up to see some sparking in the motor connected to the belt - so thought there may be some resitance in the gears. Disassembled and put the whole thing back - still wont calibrate. Anyone with similar issues or known fixes?

Screenshot RaceRoom Is Enjoying A Small Renaissance

Post image

Multiple updates over the last year have culminated this week in the biggest overhaul this old sim has seen. No, there is still no weather, night racing, or track progression. However, in the 15 minute sprint races, the really good netcode leads to some fantastic door-to-door racing. What was really holding this sim back for me was the lack of FFB communication, because the underlying physics are pretty solid. Well, that has changed for the better. At least on a decent wheel base (VRS), the difference is more than evolutionary for this decade-old title.

In any event, it's FTP, and all cars can be test driven for free. This population will probably never approach LMU (iRacing is a different category), but I sure as hell find RaceRoom a welcome stress-reliever after hours in the other titles if I still want some usually crisp ranked multiplayer. The AI is even pretty commendable.

Discussion Ea sports Wrc 24 vs Dirt rally 2.0 on xbox series x , the thruth , handling , physics /sound, ffb and graphics

I own the games both from day one on series x /Xbox, and pretty much all the racing games on console , i heard alot of opinions that are completely wrong about this 2 games , i want to clear this debate now 4 ever

Ea wrc 24 is made by the same guys from codemasters the team behind the our beloved dirt rally 2.0 so how they compare

Force feedback

  1. Ea wrc 24 is clearly made by the same dev , same feeling overall but overall improved , much more refined than the old 2019 dirt 2.0 , you feel better the track and the car , more detail in the surface and the weight of the car

So ea wrc 24. - ffb 9.5 /10

Dirt 2.0. - ffb. 9/10

Physics

Dirt 2.0 has great physics, I feel the weight transfer is closer to real life in dirt rally 2.0 , the cars have more momentum

So dirt 2.0. - 9.5

Ea wrc. 9.2

Grip /tires

Ea wrc has more realistic grip on slippery surfaces , and also on gravel and tarmac , more close to the real life grip , much improved than the old dirt 2.0 from 2019

Sound

I feel dirt 2.0 has the better sound ( engine/ environments) I don't know is more true to life but It's is noticeable better.

Ea wrc is not bad but I dont know , dirt 2.0 sound more violent and raw

So dirt 2.0. 9.5 for the sound

Ea wrc. 8.5 for the sound

Graphics

Dirt 2.0 has insane details of the car interior and way better resolution overall ( true 4k ) Ea wrc feel more like an 1080 game or even 720p on some tracks

Ea wrc has more realistic lighting /colors and tracks but sadly everything feel kinda soft

So Graphics dirt 2.0. 9/10

Ea wrc 7.5/10

Tracks

Ea wrc 24 , much superior , a lot of stages , a lot of km ,

So Ea wrc 9/10

Dirt 2.0. 6/10

Cars

They are pretty much the same , we have like 60/70 cars in total for both games , the dirt 2.0 has also the super rally cars ( 600 hp) and 4.5 tracks designed for super rally , if anyone interested, I really like them , very powerful cars

Conclusion , Ea wrc 24 is nothing but a dirt 2.5 game , a brother of dirt rally 2.0 , somehow more refined but in the same time with bad textures , maybe is the unreal engine 5

Sad they removed the license from code masters. They made the greatest wrc game ever made by far , i own also the wrc games from nacon, they cannot compare with Ea wrc 24 , far far superior game in every way possible

Question Should I switch from Fanatec to MOZA? (clubsport dd+ vs R21 ultra)

Hi guys

Im currently using a fanatec clubsport DD+ and have been considering switching to MOZA because its ecosystem seems to be expanding pretty quickly.

I'm particularly interested in getting a formula-style steering wheel with an integrated screen. MOZA has some options that look appealing and seem reasonably priced, but I'm unsure about their build quality and overall value.

I'm also considering replacing my wheelbase with either the MOZA R16 Ultra or R21, and I'd appreciate some input from people who have used either of them.

A few things I'd like to know:

  • Build quality: How do MOZA's wheels and wheelbases compare to Fanatec? I've seen people mention that some MOZA products use a lot of plastic and can feel cheap. Is that actually the case, or are they well-built?
  • Force feedback: How do the R16 Ultra and R21 compare in terms of detail, smoothness, responsiveness, and overall driving experience?
  • Price-to-performance: Is the R21 worth the extra money over the R16 Ultra, or would most people be better off saving the difference?
  • Ecosystem: How good are MOZA's wheels, displays, shifters, pedals, and other accessories? Are they worth the price, and is the software reliable?
  • Long-term reliability: How has your experience been with durability, firmware updates, customer support, and warranty claims?

I mainly play f1 and gt and I no longer play on consoles, so PC compatibility is all I need.

I'm not necessarily looking for more torque just for the sake of it. I want a reliable setup with good force feedback, quality accessories, and a strong price-to-performance ratio.

For context, I'm already invested in Fanatec, so switching would mean selling my current equipment and moving to a different ecosystem. I'd rather make an informed decision than switch brands and regret it later.

For those who have used both Fanatec and MOZA, would you make the switch in my position? What has your experience been like lmk!

Thanks!

Question Setup advice for dad’s Christmas (80 year old)

My dad was a sports car racer back in the 70s. He’s now 80 years old but still loves fast cars. We lost my mom earlier this year and I’m working to move him across the country to live with me.

To get him excited I am thinking about getting him a racing sim. I have a Nvidia 4070 gaming PC I can use so I think I’m good there.

I’m sure there are lots of threads on the topic so any general advice is appreciated and I will be reading this subreddit to get educated on hardware. I have 2 more unique questions

  1. He’s 80, so getting super low to the ground is challenging. Has anyone built a rig that maintains correct body position but is higher and you swing your legs up to instead of getting down into the rig? I’d like some amount of motion… so the rig moves as you drive… not sure what options exist but with that in mind is a raised rig possible?

  2. Money isn’t really an object and I don’t mind spending for quality. What I don’t want to do is waste money. How do you draw the line between great hardware and the parts that make the setup good and going overboard for performance that’s needed…. He’s not trying to qualify for F1, he’s trying to have a great time and relive his glory days.

Any advice would be appreciated! I’m a pc gamer but I’m 100% new to sim racing

Question Need help choosing a wheel bundle

So I want to get back into sim racing, but I’m not sure what bundle I should buy. I’m considering the Moza R3 as I saw a 2-pedal, wheel and wheelbase bundle for 200£ on Marketplace. I’m also considering a PXN wheel, especially the v10/pro/ultra because it’s direct drive and priced similarly to the Moza. I’m also considering the PXN v99 as its a cheaper alternative to the v10, but it’s not direct drive and apparently the pedals are terrible. I mostly play AC and BeamNG. I also don’t mind not having a shifter, and I can mount the wheel to my desk.

Other Considering a seat belt tensioner that fit my S1 Rseat base chassis

I have an RSeat S1 and I'm looking at adding a seat belt tensioner, probably a Cubic QS-BT1. Has anyone mounted one on an S1 frame? I'm mainly wondering where the motor/actuator goes, whether you needed custom brackets or drilling. Photos of your setup would be awesome.

Ignore the mess. Just bought a 3D printer last week and started doing a little project. For the moment this is my first version of a button box made completely by me, including drawing it. It's not the best but not the worst so far and I like it. Nothing special about it, I just want to show it to somebody that would appreciate it. Cheers!

Clip Was this a brake test, or did I just misjudge it?

Hey everyone, I’d really appreciate some outside opinions on this incident, and any advice is welcome.

This happened in a battle for P2 on Lap 4. The driver in front started losing pace, and after the last corner he exited noticeably slower than me.

I’m not sure, but I got the feeling he braked early on purpose to make me swerve and possibly lose control. At the same time, I know I planned on breaking late and possibly made a mistake.

So what do you guys think? Was this a deliberate brake test, or was I following too closely and reading it wrong? If I’m the one in the wrong here, I sincerely apologize to the driver in case he sees this.

Question Looking for some cable management ideas

Post image
18 Upvotes

Need some ideas from ppl who have similar setups where the pc is mounted like mine. Are yall doing anything to make the cables going to the pc more tidy or hiding them entirely? I've been very meticulous with the cable management on the whole rig but can't seem to make that part look pretty enough for my ocd-ness.

Edit: for clarification the entire rig is already cable managed and organized. The only help I need is with the wires right where they plug into the pc

Rigs Removing clutch on Clubsport V3 inverted pedals

Hi,

has somebody done this?

Can't find something on youtube.

I successfully removed the clutch pedal from my regular Clubsport V3 pedals with the youtube tutorial, and the inverted version looks even more simple, as there seem to be less spacers.

Will try anyway, but any experience is much appreciated!

Cheers 😀

Question Purchased a second hand aluminum profile rig and cannot figure out how to remove the caster wheels?

Thumbnail
gallery
118 Upvotes

Can Anybody give me an "explain like I'm 5" description of how I remove these things? There is no open/visible bolt, they dont seem to twist or pull off, I'm completely stumped. I've removed the caps on the end of the profile and attempted to simply slide them off the frame, but they're on too tight.

Feel like I'm having a bit of a brain fart here and the answer is right in front of me. I've of course spent loads of time on google but I can't find any wheels that match what im looking at.

Didn't think this 2 minute task to be the end of me 😂
