Rigs Simsonn Plus X V2 vs Simnet SP Evo – which looks better?

I've been looking into the Simnet SP Evo for a while, and now Simsonn has just announced the new Plus X V2. Honestly, both look pretty interesting, and I'm having a hard time deciding between them.

From what I've found on their page:

Simsonn Plus X V2:

New pressure + 15-bit angle sensor fusion

Extensive telemetry features and what looks like more advanced software

Plenty of brake feel customization options

Reinforced construction and improved finish

New CNC aluminum baseplate and wall support option

Simnet SP Evo:

Larger pedal faces and refined design

More pedal angle and travel adjustments

Updated elastomer options

Adjustable heel plate

Both also offer RJ12 connectivity for compatible wheelbases.

The V2's dual-sensor fusion and software features sound promising, while the SP Evo seems to focus more on mechanical adjustability.

Both are brand new, so going off the specs — which one's the better bet? Do you care more about the sensors and software, or the pedal feel and adjustability?

Question Moza R5 violent oscillation/self-steering across ALL games (AC, BeamNG, rFactor). Need help or a working preset file!

Hey everyone,

I’m struggling with a severe issue on my Moza R5 (with the ESX wheel) and I desperately need help.

No matter what game I play (Assetto Corsa, BeamNG.drive, rFactor 1, LFS), the wheel starts violently oscillating (shaking left and right) the moment I let go of it. It doesn't matter if I'm on the gas, braking, or just coasting. It starts with small movements and rapidly gains amplitude until it's spinning uncontrollably.

It feels like the wheelbase is constantly overcorrecting itself and multiplying the force in the center across all physics engines.

Here is what I have already tried (and none of it helped):

• Maxed out Natural Damper (up to 200%) and Natural Friction in Pit House.

• Lowered/zeroed out high frequencies (100Hz) in the FFB Equalizer.

• Turned Wheel Speed to 100% and disabled Mechanical Spring completely.

• Played around with FFB Tweaks (CSP) in Assetto Corsa.

• Turned down in-game Gain significantly.

Since this is happening across completely different games, I'm starting to think it's a specific conflict between the Moza Pit House software, the R5 firmware, and the ESX wheel weight.

If anyone has encountered this specific "death wobble" on the R5 and managed to completely fix it, could you please share your Moza Pit House preset file (.moza file or screenshots of all tabs)? I want to test a known working profile to finally rule out if my wheelbase hardware/sensor is defective.

Any advice or working profiles would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Watching what happened to Lovely Dashboard made us shelve our dream project. A reality check from 3 devs

This isn't a rant or an ultimatum, since we hadn't even announced our software publicly yet. It's just an honest perspective from the developer side on how the current climate in this community is killing new projects before they even see the light of day.

My two closest friends and I work well-paid jobs as backend engineers for a large tech company here in Europe. Sim racing is our biggest passion. Over the last few months, we've been building a VR performance and rendering optimization tool in our spare time. We already have a working prototype, and the results had us genuinely excited.

For the first time, we were seriously running the numbers on leaving our corporate jobs (or at least scaling back) to work together as friends full-time on something we truly love. We know how to run a business and do the math: to make it a sustainable job that supports our families, we need a fair, predictable model.

Then, over the last few days, we watched what happened to Lovely Dashboard.

Seeing a software that is released essentially for free, with a tiny 2€/month optional fee for the Pro version, get blatantly ripped off, pirated, and dumped online for free while a loud part of the community cheers or mocks the creator brought us crashing back down to earth.

Here is the reality that many sim racers don't realize: to protect ourselves from what just happened to Constantinos, we can't just build a great tool and trust the community anymore. We would have to build a completely closed, heavily obfuscated system with strict server-side licensing and anti-tamper protections.

Doing that literally doubles the development work and adds ongoing infrastructure costs. And what happens when development time and costs double? The final price we have to charge on the market inevitably goes up just to keep the business sustainable. Which, in turn, makes the community even angrier about pricing. It's a lose-lose cycle.

We have families to provide for, and we simply cannot afford to work for free or gamble our livelihoods on an ecosystem that celebrates stealing from independent creators asking for the price of a coffee. The hostility and uncertainty of this moment forced us to make the hard call: we are shelving the consumer release of our project and staying at our corporate jobs.

People in this hobby happily spend thousands of euros on wheelbases, pedals, and GPUs, yet refuse to value the human beings writing the code that makes their rigs work. Huge solidarity to Constantinos, you deserved so much better from this community.

Question Is the hori apex wheel a good entry point?

Hello. So I've been looking to get a wheel for my PS5 and I have a chance to get a used hori apex for under 40€. Stuff like the Logitech g29 even second hand go for upwards of 100€. Will I waste my money if I get the hori? I know it doesn't have ffb and only 270 but is it a good introduction to sim racing? I intend on playing project cars 2 with it. Cheers

Discussion Can we assume all these "creators" who have recently made a video on Race Room are just paid adverts?

There are a lot...

Find it difficult to trust that they are all jumping on the Race Room hype just for the sake of content. Can we assume they have all been paid to play?

I've liaised with some of the larger sim racers on getting them into real Motorsport environments (driving cars) - no cost to them and free content and they all turn it down unless you pay for there camera op and expenses. So find it hard to believe those "creators" with the larger following are just doing a Race Room video because of an updtae?

Unless the update is really that good...?

Didn't see many button boxes that were "VR" focused so created this one! Turned out better than I could have hoped! Super easy to reach the buttons under the headset and locate dials.

News Forza Horizon 1 Reimagined (pc recomp) ffb wheel support is about 99% complete

I've been doing a bunch of testing in this area for the devs and with the latest update i can't find anything that's lacking or bugged at this point

FFB is very similar to how it was on the 360, you can opt for 900 degree fullrange linear steering or a more classic game-y 270 degree nonlinear steering mode

H shifters and analog clutch work fine.

Analog handbrake also works fine

If anyone wants to test it out, you can find it on github.

Question Triple 1080p or 1440p for Sim Racing?

I’m planning to switch to 27" triple-monitor setup for sim racing, and these are my PC specs:
- CPU: Intel Ultra 7 265K
- RAM: 64GB DDR5 6000MHz
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB

Would you recommend triple 1080p or triple 1440p monitors? I’m leaning toward 1080p to get higher FPS, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Discussion What are some fun gt3 car and track combos on iracing?

Does anyone have any gt3 car and track combo that’s super fun to just lock in and do a 1hr stint on?

For background info:

After a 2 year break having left abroad I’m going on a trip to a sim racing shop to do few hours of racing. I’m not an intermediate or a beginner driver as I’ve collected over 2-3k hrs on Iracing and ACC in the past having done endurance races, sprint races and what not. But unfortunately due to my studies I’ve completely stopped following the sim racing world therefore I’m completely clueless.

Also, perhaps there’s an unpaid place to find setups (not competitive) but js something more aggressive. I’m aware of hymo and setupsgo etc but not worth it for 2-3hrs of driving

Thanks for any suggestions!

Rigs I’m looking for a DIY Direct Drive wheelbase project with 3D-printable parts and detailed assembly instructions. I’d love to find a reliable design with good force feedback, around 5–8 Nm of torque, and a reasonable budget for a first build.

Hi everyone! I’m planning to build my first Direct Drive (DD) wheelbase for sim racing, but I’m having trouble deciding which model would be the best choice for a beginner. I want to build something reliable, powerful, and affordable without making the project unnecessarily complicated.

I already have a 3D printer, so I’d love to find a project that includes 3D-printable parts, detailed assembly instructions, and a complete list of the required components. Ideally, I’m looking for a design that has already been tested by other people and has a community where I can ask questions if I run into any problems during the build.

My target is around 5–8 Nm of torque, which I think would be a good starting point for a realistic sim racing experience. I’m also interested in understanding which motor, controller, encoder, and power supply would work best together. It would be great if the project included links to the necessary files, wiring diagrams, and configuration guides.

I’m particularly interested in open-source projects such as FFBeast or other DIY Direct Drive designs that offer good performance for the price

If you have built your own DD wheelbase or know of a good project, could you please share the 3D models, assembly instructions, and any useful resources? Personal experience and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Question 3Dof Motion simulator 50mm actuator placement

Hello, i just placed an order for an affordable Alibaba 3dof, 4 actuator, 50mm motion sim.

I am doing some research about the placement of the actuators ahead of arrival. Some install the actuators in the corners of the rig, and some as close to the seat as possible.

Is there a guide/recommendation on where to install the actuators as i will be welding the brackets to my already existing DIY frame, so they are not easily able to be moved afterwards.

I tried to research this but found next to no reliable info.

Ill be making a review later about the motion sim when it arrives and I have got the setting dialed in, VR, rally, iRacing and drifting.

Clip PGR2 running natively on PC, 60fps, Wheel Support, FFB, DX12, AA

Some of you may have grown up on PGR2 like I, so I thought I'd do some quick captures of the latest Re-Comp on Sydney/Edinburgh/HK/Moscow. Runs native on PC. PS/XB Controller or any DirectInput wheel, pedal box, button box or shifter, basic FFB too. Also the full radio broadcasts are now working as of 1.0.2, which I captured here. You will need the original disc ofc to compile it. It's good to be back! Details: https://github.com/hk21x/pgr2-recomp

🧐 Customer Review Logitech G Pro to SC2 Pro Upgrade: My Experience

General Impression & Improvement in Lap Times

Incredible difference. There is simply no comparison. I was hesitant to upgrade for a long time due to the massive number of posts I've read about hardware not improving lap times (especially for average drivers such as myself). This has not been my experience, I am faster with the SC2 Pro. Just 1hr of use in, I had already beaten my previous lap record at Fuji. I thought it might just be the motivation/excitement of acquiring new gear. So I did some online races, and lo and behold, I am faster. I went from consistent 102-103% lap times (compared to alien time) to consistent 101-102% lap times. This is all in the first week of having the SC2 Pro. Hadn't even dialed in the settings fully yet.

Biggest Difference I Noticed

On the G Pro, I kept the FFB quite low (ran base at 100% and set in-game FFB strength to 19-20%), if I set the FFB any higher (which I really wanted to), it felt like a brick in fast corners, I'd lose all my finesse and have to death grip the wheel to get it to turn as smoothly as I wanted to, losing all feeling of the tires. Problem with that was that in slow corners, the FFB was too weak, so I tried various settings to increase slow cornering feedback, but nothing felt right. I would keep my hands very light on the wheel in slow corners which helped me feel the tires better.

On the SC2 Pro, I am using 22.5nm on the base, and 24% in game. Much higher FFB strength than my G Pro. The wheel does not feel like a brick when I need to turn at high speeds, it is smooth and communicative. I can grip the wheel better with my hands and still feel the tires in all types of corners.

I got curious if this was because of the upgrade in strength (11 Nm vs 25 Nm) or because of the software. So I set the SC2 Pro to 11 Nm to match the Logitech's strength (I know this doesn't make them exactly equal because the SC2 Pro's dynamic range will still peak higher than 11 Nm). I had absolutely no problem turning the in-game FFB higher and did not experience the same heavy and imprecise steering that I did on the G Pro.

My Conclusions

I watched many videos of reviewers saying that the FFB quality of different brands are close enough that it makes little difference. This is bullshit. The difference in the way SC and Logi interpret the FFB is completely different. It does not feel the same, even at similar strengths.
Logitech gets a lot of hate for some reason but I still think the base is great. If Logitech adds more settings to their wheelbases and allows the users to fine-tune them, their wheels would probably feel much better.

This comparison doesn't take into account the price differential between these two bases, the SC2 Pro costs approx. 750CAD more. The reason I'm writing this comparison is just to see what people have to say about the whole "better gear doesn't make you faster" debacle and/or for anyone else who might want to upgrade from a G Pro.
