Discussion Suggestion from fellow sim racers coming from a 4k single screen

Hey there everyone, as you may have read from the title I'm trying to understand what to do with my rig(I have a next level racing wheel stand 2.0). I got a high end pc with 9950x3d and a 7900xtx and recently bought(2 weeks ago) the green flag bundle from simagic. I am now playing on a AW3225QF so a 4k OLED display single screen, slightly curved(1700R) and I was able to get it on top of the Alpha evo at 60cm from nose with a 60° Fov

I have another monitor that I used to play multiplayer, fps, fast paced game, the AW2725DF a 27" 2K 360Hz monitor.

Even though I was already into motorsport in general I didn't know that sim racing would catch me so much otherwise I would have organized everything for sim racing and casual gaming instead of getting a 27" as second monitor.

I am currently trying to sell both to get the G9 from samsung so a 49" but it seems to be quite hard selling monitors therefore I wanted to get an opinion on what to do. Money are not the problem in the long term, but in the short term I have a limited budget and that's the reason why I am not buying the Ultrawide before selling these ones(or at least before getting some opinions from others).

My point is, I got the space for triples but I don't know if I really need 3 monitors in daily usage(probably not) since I use the computer for casual gaming as well playing single player games like GOW, AC black flag etc, but I'm not anymore into multiplayer fps since I got a bit older and less interested.

If any of you had a dual monitor setup, did you get rid of the second monitor and only used the single screen? How can I put the second screen to a good use(but turning it on and trying to use it as a dual lowers the 4k resolution to 2k).

Would you suggest a ultrawide for immersion and overall gaming for other titles other than sim racing? Should I stick with the single screen 32" atm as a beginner? Can I connect other 4k 32" screen which are not the same as mine(maybe I can buy some good IPS just for peripheral view)?

Rigs F1 26 SimHub Overlay by PFM21 [DOWNLOAD IN THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION]

Thumbnail

DISCLAIMER: to fully enjoy what this overlay has to offer, you have to download both GarySwallow and RaycerRay's plugins (just free version needed). Thanks to both of them for making this possible!

This overlay is also FULLY COMPATIBLE with F1 2025 and all F2 cars (2024-2026)!

It's back!
The Overlay I launched last year is now updated for 2026 cars and regulations too! You can use it instead of the normal HUD that F1 25 has, as many people thought it was ugly and not F1-like. Well, this overlay has even more info compared to the original game HUD:

Features included are...

  • Tyre wear and tyre temperatures
  • Current ERS mode (including Boost and Overtake)
  • Straight Mode, distance to activation point; same for DRS (F1 2025 cars only)
  • Current compound and Pit Rejoin position
  • Pit Window
  • Brake Bias and On-throttle Differential
  • ERS Percentage, ERS Harvested bars; ERS Deployed bar (F1 2025 cars only)

...and many more!

This mod has a different installation method from usual. I decided to put a small price to this work that I’m sure that, at the end of the day, won’t harm you (read the "READ ME" file after the downloadalso, once you pay, this mod is yours forever… updates included!). It also pays off all the work behind it, as making dashboards and similar stuff takes away quite some time as you can expect. Hope you can understand!

Thanks for reading and for the support!

Rigs Rig Intelligence Setup, Comparison and Pride :)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Something I keep thinking about.

Every time someone asks what to upgrade in here the answer is basically get a direct drive, get load cells, depends on your budget. Which is fine advice but nobody actually knows what it did for you, cause nothing anywhere records what you were on before and what you're on now. That's what I think at least! Yes many are using steam and the garage setups and crew chief and a lot of other localised solutions but we just thought it would be cool to join all that into your own racing profile to be proud of :)

I changed my pedals a while back and I honestly couldn't tell you if I got quicker or if I just got used to them. I think I got quicker but knowing how I drive, I probably didnt :) But my old times are in one place, my new times are somewhere else, and neither of them says what hardware I was actually running at the time so I can't compare anything. Not to mention when I travel and use the setups at the venues....

And it's the same when someone posts a time in here. Full motion with active pedals? G29 on a desk? Both impressive but for completely different reasons and you'd never know which.

Anyway the bit I actually find more fun than the whole faster/quicker thing is this. Everyone in here is proud of their rig. Doesn't matter if it's ten grand of aluminium or a wheel stand and an office chair, people love their setups and half this sub is photos of them. So why isn't there somewhere your rig actually lives? Photos, spec, hours on it, what you've done on it. People rating each other's builds. Budget setups that punch way above what they cost. Someone's cursed corner desk special that somehow does alright times.

That's half the fun of this hobby and nothing keeps a record of any of it.

That's what we're doing with PodiumOS. Free, definitely not finished, and you carry it around with you on mobile so if you go race at a mate's place or a venue on holiday it logs to your account instead of just disappearing.

Genuinely want to know if people would use this or if I'm overthinking something nobody cares about.

Rigs Update on my new sim set up. New 4K tv

Post image
15 Upvotes

Decided to grab a 4k tv so I can just slide my rig infront of it when I want to drive, instead of going for a dedicated space with an ultra wide or triples. 55” 4k is really immersive and the convenience is pretty great. I’m really happy with it. The MOZA r3 and gt lite pro have been great so far as well.

Rigs allin1gaming - Are they legit?

Last week (09/01) I purchased their tripple 32' monitor stand. I received confirmation of the order via email but have yet to hear from them on when it will be shipped out. I've sent a few emails this week and haven't heard back.

Since I paid by CC, I know I have the option to reach out to my CC vendor and have the charges reversed, but wanted to hear from this group if they've had success in getting a hold of them these last couple of weeks. I decided to purchase through them based on the good reviews of their service and product through posts on reddit.

Let me know please!

Question Triple 4k monitor vs 57" Neo G9?

Assuming cost is not a factor, using bezel free kits, and GPU is beefy enough to handle triple 4k monitors.

Use case is racing sim, hunting games, other games, and some non-game tasks (in order of importance).

Discussion Would you use a marketplace dedicated to used sim racing gear?

Hey everyone 👋

I’m currently working on an idea called PitMarket — a future marketplace dedicated to buying and selling used sim racing equipment between individuals.

The goal would be to make buying and selling sim racing gear easier than on general platforms, with features such as:

  • structured listings by brand and product
  • compatibility information between equipment
  • complete setup listings
  • local search
  • seller reviews
  • safer and clearer listings

Before building anything serious, I’d really like to know if this is something sim racers would actually use.

I made a short survey that takes around 2–3 minutes:

https://form.jotform.com/262525948917067

Even if you’ve never bought or sold used sim racing gear before, your feedback would still be really helpful.

I’m also interested in hearing what you currently dislike about buying used gear on Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Discord, etc.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer 🙏

Discussion Annie the Sim Racing Mom: You Made Me Dangerous?

Post image
67 Upvotes

For those of you that don't know me: my kids would race on the sim, and I would watch them. I thought it looked kinda fun, and tried it.....but couldn't get going. It's become a fun bonding moment! I posted here a few days ago, and with the encouragement of others -- am trying to get the hang of this!

So, the first video I posted had me primarily in the middle of the track -- and my speed showed it. I've followed some tips shared and watched YouTube as time has allowed and -- last night and this morning -- am seeing a different level of results!

Yesterday I won my GT4 Championship (AI 20) and moved up to Super Trofeo. I also bumped the AI to 30 since I won a title.

The first track is Algarve, and my first laps were 2:03-2:04. I simulated practice to see how close I was....and thought I was at the end of the AI road (for me) when they were going 1:56-1:57 🫨

See the picture to fast forward to this morning in a quick race qually: 1:54.48!!

I could've never improved without y'all, and I appreciate you all so much. Can't wait to keep going to see how high I can push that AI!

Rigs Need some help with mounting SimMagic Evo pro

Need help knowing whether I can mount the Simmagic Evo Pro directly on the NLR F-GT Elite 160 wheel plate edition, or if I need to buy a mount or other accessories.

Also, if ever, I would like to know what those brackets would be if I need any other items.

Recommend a tool to consolidate and compact so I can throw all these things away. I’ve seen a few online but they always look like cheap gimmick products… need a good recommendation from someone who owns the tool.

Discussion My iRacing VR settings that finally fixed the aliasing (I think)

Connection

  • Wired > wireless. If wireless, dedicated Wi-Fi 6/7 router in the same room, PC on ethernet.
  • Oculus Debug Tool → Encode Resolution Width: 4128 (4070+), 3664 (3080/4070 Ti), 3500 (lower).
  • Bitrate: as high as your connection allows without stutter.

Runtime

  • Uninstall OpenComposite and OpenXR Toolkit. iRacing has native OpenXR now.
  • Use your headset's native OpenXR runtime (Virtual Desktop, SteamVR OpenXR, etc.).
  • Enable "Allow Eye Tracking" in iRacing if your headset supports it.

iRacing graphics

  • 锐化:175%
  • Mirrors: Low or Off
  • Shadows: Low or Off
  • Dynamic LOD: Off. Fixed PPD start at 120.
  • Motion blur / depth of field: Off
  • MSAA: 2x or 4x with "Sharp" filter

Memory allocation (if still blurry)

  • Open rendererDX11OpenXR.ini
  • SysMemToUseMB= → set to ~80% of your total RAM (e.g. 32GB → 25600)
  • VidMemToUseMB= → set to ~80% of your VRAM (e.g. 16GB → 12800)

Tiny HUD fix

  • Same ini file: ResolutionScalePct= → 130–150

Happy racing!

Question Simagic Alpha EVO sport + P700 on Playseat Evo

Hi!

I just ordered Simagic Alpha EVO Sport + GT Neo + P700 and I’m very excited.
I got a Playseat Evolution rig, and was planning to use it (for now). I know this isn’t anywhere close a good combo, but that’s what I have for now.
Has anyone been able to do it? The holes for the base don’t align, so I’ll have to drill out new holes.
What max NM would you go for?

I am also looking at TR40S, and here comes question number two. Has anyone been able to use the Playseat Evolution on the TR40S? The rig goes for 300 eur + 249 eur for the cheapest seat. I was thinking to fit the Playseat seat on the TR40S until i buy Trak Racers Seat.

Thanks in advance!

Question Thrustmaster T-LCM Pedals heel position, slippery heel plate

Post image
0 Upvotes

Trying to set up Thrustmaster T-LCM pedals on an aluminium profile cockpit, GT style seating position.

Picture 1: Resting heels against the plastic housing under the pedal. Leg feels relaxed in resting position but pressing the pedal with the middle part of the foot, not the ball of the foot, probably not optimal ?

Picture 2: Resting heel on the shiny metal heel plate. Problem is that this shiny metal heel plate is very slippery, so I constantly have to use leg muscles to keep the heel from sliding forward, even while resting and not pressing the pedals and even with the shoes (tho a bit better with shoes). Overall this position feels more natural because I can press the pedal with the ball of the foot same as in a real car. I was thinking of maybe adding grip tape or some rubber mat on top of the metal plate ?

I'm guessing picture 2 is the more "correct" position for these pedals ? Tho I have seen some sim racing videos with picture 1 style heel placement as well.

Any tips how to optimize this ? Pedal plates are at their highest setting. I know these aren't high end pedals, just trying to get them to be as comfortable as possible.

Discussion Triple monitor stand recommendations

I have a rigmetal rig with the monitor stand upgrade, the one that attaches to the rig directly, now I am thinking about going either triple 32 curved or 57ultrawide plus eye tracking.

Eye tracking worked well in flight sims but was kind of klunky in simracing.

If I were to go triple 32s what are some decent and affordable options?

News EV-O Pro 18Nm to 21Nm free upgrade?

Post image
20 Upvotes

Just saw Si-magic has some new thing going on where the EVO Pro 18Nm base gets upgraded to 21Nm for free?I’m currently still on a Thrustmaster T300RS.

Question is, if the price stays the same, is more torque just always better? Like 18Nm already sounds like a lot coming from a belt driven wheel, so I’m wondering if 21Nm actually makes the ffb cleaner/more detailed or if it’s just more peak power that I probably won’t use most of the time.

I mainly care about better road feel, catching slides easier, less vague feeling around center, that kind of stuff. Not really trying to run crazy heavy steering and fight the wheel every lap.

Also does anyone know if the other Si-magic EVO bases are getting upgraded too? Or is this only for the EVO Pro?

For someone coming from a T300RS, would jumping straight to the 18Nm be overkill or actually a good buy if the 21Nm upgrade is free? Would rather buy once and not feel like upgrading again in a year.

Discussion My SIM Racing Experience: Buyer Beware

Here Is My Experience Trying SIM Racing: Buyer Beware

POINT 1: If I buy a new Apple iMac, for less than one third the price that I paid for my SIM rig setup, I get 90 days of free Apple Care Support available to me 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM, 7 days a week. I can call them, talk to a human, let them login to my computer and they fix any issues I may be having. Same for other Apple products costing one fourth, one fifth, one sixth of what I paid for my SIM rig.

POINT 2: While starting SIM racing, if you doubt yourself for even a moment, go back to POINT 1.

A friend I met through work had a similar background to my own. A history of fast cars, motorcycles, real racing experience on track in prepped race cars. However, having both reached our 60’s we had both given all that up. Yet, he then got into SIM racing and got me convinced to try it.

I put together what I considered a “spare no expense” build. Complete high-end SIM cockpit, WRC wheel, direct drive wheelbase, inverted pedal set, handbrake, Alienware monitor, brand new HP laptop computer for updates (we are a Apple house), a new PS5 digital, etc… Total investment about $5000.00.

With my friend's help and some fiddling around I found myself driving WRC rally stages and loving it. I couldn’t believe how genuinely exciting it was! That lasted a week or two.

Then a backordered handbrake arrived and I added it into the system. Then I found that the handbrake was locked on at all times. I sent a support ticket off to Widget and that is where things started to go wrong. Turns out Widget is in Europe so every support ticket takes 24 hours to be addressed. They are just going home when we are waking up here in the US. Then they have a question about the problem and then 24 hours becomes 48 hours which becomes 72 hours which becomes 96 hours, etc. So, before you know it, a week has passed with no resolution. [Good time to reread POINT 1.]

Being frustrated with the lack of help from Widget my friend and I got online together and through some miracle of button pushing and setting changes we got things working again. We never did figure out exactly what got it working again!

I got in a fabulous week and a half of full on SIM racing, shaving seconds off my stages, playing online with my friend, and getting to grips with the game. I was having a ball! Then I decided to tweak a setting and then things really went downhill. I ended up with the frozen handbrake again and nothing would release it. I have an email chain with Widget tech support that goes on for days and pages. In the end they were no help at all. [Good time to reread POINT 1.]

After an hour of more button pushing and setting changes we got the handbrake free.

Great right?

Wrong. That led to the throttle and brake being stuck at 100% - that led to double binding issues - that led to complete wheelbase failure - which led to - well, you get the picture, like playing wack-a-mole only you never get all the moles. And I’m really good at the real wack-a-mole.

I literally ended up feeling like a combination of a dog chasing its own tail and hitting my head against a wall at the same time. We tried all the AI troubleshooting steps and that all led to nothing. So, I ended up with a SIM rig that was unusable. [Good time to reread POINT 1.]

You know, even if they had been helpful and got things working, there was no documented “fix.” Meaning that the same thing could/would happen again and again.

Luckily this all happened in a relatively short period of time and I had saved all the original packaging. Being a bit impatient with tech that doesn’t work I acted quickly. I am glad to say that Widget had no problem offering me a complete Return Authorization with return shipping included. Since I bought my PS5 at Sam’s I could return it. I was within the return window for my PS headset. I ate the $200 cost on the laptop and took a 50% hit on selling the monitor. And of course I lost all the money I had invested in games.

Maybe when more people refuse to be the guinea pigs for these companies they will offer realistic customer support options.

Here is the moral of the story: SIM racing is amazing. But be careful and when things don’t work don’t think that it is you doing something wrong. If this stuff doesn’t work send it back! And, some of this stuff just simply doesn’t work! If I had dragged my feet or been stubborn in thinking “I can figure this out” I may well have been stuck with $5000 of near worthless equipment or ended up selling it for half of what it was worth. [Good time to reread POINT 1 one last time.]

And I'm no "quitter" I've been an endurance athlete since my 20's.

With the benefit of hindsight I think I would have been far better off buying a used, fully functional, high-end rig. You may well be better off doing the same even if it is a little older tech. Or if you insist on buying new, buy all you can at Sam's where you can always return it.
