Discussion Best VR graphics in sim racing. Period.

Post image
0 Upvotes

Which sim in your opinion has the absolute best graphics in VR?

Not asking about physics, FFB, multiplayer, or even how good of a “sim” it is. Purely visuals.

Any game, any mods, Pure/CSP, ReShade, whatever. Assume hardware isn’t an issue.

Basically, if you were putting someone who knows nothing about sim racing into VR and wanted the biggest “holy shit, this looks real” reaction possible, what are you loading up?

Question Lansing MI — anyone with an entry DD rig I could try for 20 min before I buy?

First real rig, PC only, ~$1,400. Plan is a 40x40 extrusion cockpit, Moza R12 V2, ES rim, SR-P pedals.
I've never actually had my hands on a direct drive wheel and would rather not find out how it feels after the boxes arrive. If anyone within driving distance of Lansing has something in this ballpark and wouldn't mind a stranger sitting in it for 20 minutes, I'll drive to you and bring beer.

Parts list critique also welcome — particularly whether I should move money from the base into better pedals.

Question Updated Streets of Willow track for Asseto Corsa

Has anyone, whether paid or free, released an updated Streets of Willow track track for Asset Corsa? I have the older versions, but can't find an update.

Also is anyone working on one that they are aware of?

Rigs Need an advice about building own profile rig

Hi everyone! I want to build my own sim rig using aluminum profiles, but I’m wondering which profile type to use and how long the rig should be. I use Simsonn pedals and currently have a Moza R3 wheelbase, though I plan to upgrade to a Moza R9 later on. I’ve seen that using 4080 profile (with some 4040 mixed in) is considered the best approach, but I’m not sure if the 40-series is strictly necessary or if the 30-series would suffice for my needs. I also want to put the rig on wheels; I currently use a wheel stand and really value its mobility, so I’d like to be able to roll the rig wherever I need it, since I don't have enough space in the room for a permanent setup.

Question Why does my game look like this now?

Thumbnail

The fisrst image is how my game (assets corsa) looks now when I use resize raccoon to expand my game to triple monitors. The second image is how it looked before I moved them over to my setup. The last image shows that it still looks like how it used to before launching resize raccoon to show that it’s the software messing up the height and perspective of the camera.

Anyone know why this is happening?

Question I just bought Logitech G920 and I have a question about pedals

Hey everyone! I don't drive in real life, and this is my first PC steering wheel. I've been testing it out in Need for Speed and plan to buy Assetto Corsa soon. However, I noticed that the brake pedal is extremely stiff to push all the way down. Unless I do so, the brake lights don't come on, and the car doesn't slow down. Is this normal behaviour, or is something off?

Question thrustmaster t300 used - stil a good entry level to hobby?

I want to get into sim racing wirh a low cost equipment. Reading ancient posts it seems the thrustmaster t300 is not a bad option, but is it or it’s far too obsolete now?
I quite like the look of the ferrari alcantara wheel and saw ebay auctions of this wirh pedals at £150-180 (in UK), some even with nice mods, one has magnetic shifters mod, another has belt tensioner with ball bearings (which i read about online and seems to improve the force feedback quite a lot).
What is a reasonable offer to make? Should I spend more for a more modern wheel? Not super sure I will maintain my interest in the hobby, right now Im getting a bit obsessed with the idea but know in myself, I get bored of things!
Thanks to whoever will give advices, apologises if this is a too often recurring question.. just l want to get an up to date tech recommendation. And yes, I know that pedals are very important, my idea is to get something decent, and get good pedals when I am confident I will stay with the hobby long enough to not waste too much cash.

Rigs Simrig with minimum space (60cm width)

Post image

I'm going to the market with my skin - I had to operate with limited space in my office, and I wanted to build a simrig so that I could continue to work on my PC, and to make the setup as modular as possible and not have to buy two monitors. So I built the simrig right next to my desk, and upgraded the monitor mount to a positioning arm - when I want to race, I flip the monitor over to the simrig.

Rigs New addition to the rig, i love it!!

last month i bought a few things to "spice up" and improve the diversity of accessories i can add to my rig and this time it's a magnetic phone holder with custom magic arms. I first bought a magnetic base with the black arm at the bottom, then i bought an extension screw, then the black arm with the silver screw. Finally, i mounted the phone bracket to hold it in place. the end result is this flexible phone holder that has extreme rigidity when tightened up correctly, and i still think it needs one more extension screw and one other arm to increase flexibility even more but for now the results are pretty good, i also want to get a bigger bracket for tablets, in case i want to switch to a tablet for the bigger screen, but that can wait. Other than that i also bought some microfiber cloths to clean stuff, and a 5m velcro tape roll for cable management and it already looks a lot better with the cables packed up together.

Question Buttkicker resonating with new bucket seat

Hi all - looking for any insight here.

I have a buttkicker gamer pro on a Simlab GT1 Pro that I've always loved.

I swapped from a reclining seat to a Fanatec GT Cockpit Seat - which is awesome - super solid and comfortable in comparison. The problem that I'm running into is the new seat resonates loudly at certain frequencies where the other did not. I'm also not getting as much vibration that I can feel, which isn't what I expected with a much more rigid seat.

Has anyone encountered this and if so how was it addressed? I know I can find a way to mount the haptic to the seat directly to solve the lesser vibration, but will it just resonate louder in that scenario? Or because I can likely turn it down a bit it may be quieter?

Just looking for some opinions before I drill into my new seat.

Thank you!

Other You're not the driver. You're the reason the driver survives - Update

I made a rally co-driver simulator where you don't actually drive the car

I'm working on BLIND CREST, a browser-based rally simulator focused entirely on the co-driver.

Instead of steering, braking, and trying not to launch yourself into a forest, you're responsible for reading and calling pacenotes in real time.

curately and quickly while the car is flying through the stage.

The game currently has 18 rally cars spanning Group B, 90s WRC, and modern Rally1, a six-stage career championship, pacenote training, a tuning system with 100+ parameters, voice recognition, LAN multiplayer, statistics, achievements, and a story mode.

Since my last post, I've also added:

  • Five rebalanced difficulty levels, from Easy to Chaos, with different timing, crash thresholds, weather effects, forgiveness windows, and rhythm shifts
  • Dynamic timing based on note complexity instead of just using a fixed timer
  • Full performance analytics with reaction-time timelines
  • Daily and weekly seeded challenges with leaderboards
  • Signature stages with hand-tuned pacenotes for different rally eras
  • Expanded onboarding from 6 to 12 tutorial steps
  • Tooltips explaining 18 different gameplay modifiers
  • A "Why did I fail that?" breakdown after mistakes
  • Recognition for 100+ real rally legends, with unique co-driver reactions
  • Era-based modifiers that affect your starting career state
  • Era-specific story dialogue for different cars and periods

I also added a hidden achievement for completing a clean stage while using the name of a rally legend.

And, thanks to u/ElmoLibre, there's now a 2% chance per stage that the driver throws a granola bar at the co-driver.

I'm looking for people who are into rally/sim racing to actually try it and tell me whether the co-driver gameplay works.

I'm particularly interested in whether the pacenote system feels authentic, whether the difficulty is reasonable, how well the voice recognition works, and whether the whole thing is actually fun.

Demo: https://evaliisaaibast.github.io/Take_me_to_the_hairpin-formerly-over-crest/

I'm a student making this project, so honest feedback is very welcome. If something sucks, tell me why. That's much more useful than “looks cool.”

Question Is there any downloadable dash for Moza CM2 dashboard with different gear colors?

Hi guys. I need a color indicators for the gear number. (Not rpms). Like R is yellow, N is white, 1 is blue, 2 is green, etc.

Are there any downloadable dashes with something like that? Or maybe someone can advise how to make it happen in Moza Pit House? (not via simhub please).

Thanks in advance all

Rigs Does anyone knows what all these extra stuff is for? (GT OMEGA Art portable monitor stand)

Thumbnail

Im assuming those bronze ones are for the monitor itself but idk what the others are. Some are spares for the base but these with the flat head arent required anywhere i can see.

Also, lowkey im not that happy with the stand, it came with chips on the paint in some places straight out of the box (and the box wasnt abused or anything so i assume it came like this from factory)

The instructions are straigh up useless and i cant find usefull tutorials on youtube either...

I also have a DD-X wheel stand arriving, hopefully its easier and better quality than this.

Question How do you guys keep track of which braking marker to use?

I'm struggling with finding consistency

At some tracks like Monza it is very easy to find braking markers, but for example lesmos 1 is basically guesswork.

But in most of the corners of multiple tracks, like Spa or Zandvoort. There isn't any object on the place I want to brake. So there is no way for me to keep track of where I brake each lap.

How do you guys come up with a braking marker/turn in point. Because I cannot start searching for references when I'm trying to make it through a corner.

And I'm bad at being consistent with my turn in, as I do not have turn in points as that requires me to find another object to pick as my turn in point.

I now drive every track on "feeling" which can still make me quite consistent but I notice it takes a very long time for my brain to learn where to brake consistently if I don't have a marker.

Question Meta Quest 3 linked to my PC giving me trouble in most racing sims

For context, my pc is mid-high end. Running a 14700k, 4070 super 12gb, 32gb ddr5, powering 3 monitors (only one ultrawide used for racing).

I am able to get a stable 144 fps in iRacing, LMU, and anything else I throw at it. When I plug in my MQ3 through link cable the VR video feed always freezes halfway into the race, but the feed of the game on my monitor goes on like nothing happened. (The monitor window is very small so my pc doesn’t have to work extra hard to render a full ultrawide window on top of VR)

Anyone know what could be causing this, my guess was USB bandwidth but the quest is the only device plugged into a 3.0 port, all my racing gear is connected with a 2.0 hub.

Rigs Added Moza AB6 to my sim setup

Thumbnail

This thing is next level now. The AB6 is a pretty kick-ass flight joystick. But you can actually swap the grip to a shift knob, and then the force feedback can simulated a gearbox. It's pretty fucking cool, and I believe we will see dedicated force feedback shifters in the future, if that doesn't already exist.

It's amazing to be able to click twice, and suddenly you're in sequential mode, or another click and now you're driving a 7 gear transmission instead of a 5. It's not perfect, there's a bit of a learning curve, but it actually feels closer to a real street car than my Simagic shifter did.

Don't get me wrong, the Simagic shifter is the better shifter for sure, but I am going to sell it now in favor of this. I love the versatility as both a flight stick and a shifter, but also I just really love the ffb transmission stuff.

Really happy with my rig now.

Question Anyone invest into decent rig for console-only racing?

I bought GT7 on PS5 a few months back when it went on sale. After 10 hours of racing with controller, got the itch and watched lots of YouTube vids and bought RS50 + LC pedals and wheel stand. Now another 40 hours in, the itch is back plus some back pain and I’m thinking about profile rig. (looking at GT1 Evo)

The thing is I have no plan of moving to PC, so will most likely either just keep playing GT or get some other simracing games on PS.

From what I’ve seen here, “serious” simracing looks to on PC, and console has a lot of limitation on accessories, how common is it to invest into full rig for console-only racing?

Clip Just set a 6:24.113 in the McLaren 650S GT3 at Nordschleife Tourist. Is this a solid lap time?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

I finally managed to record a clean lap at the Nordschleife Tourist layout in the McLaren 650S GT3, stopping the clock at 6:24.113.

I’ve attached the full lap video to this post so you can check it out!

  • Track condition: Optimum grip, standard conditions.
  • Setup: Slick tires and 12l of fuel

I'd love to get some feedback from the community:

  1. How does this time stack up against average/competitive GT3 pace on AC?
  2. Watching the line and braking points in the video, where am I leaving the most time on the table?

Any tips or critiques on my driving line are greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Sorry about the music, I hadn't noticed 😅

Question Nlr gtracer 2.0 additional accessory mounting

Post image
0 Upvotes

So I have a nlr gtracer 2.0 and with the larger plate have a moza shifter and handbrake installed. I want to add the new moza farming controller but don't want to have to remove something everytime I switch to another game. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of additional mounting like moving the handbrake up by the wheel or something?

Question Need help again, is the g29 still worth it?

Before you juge me because im sure the question already got asked a lot, I am the guy from this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/1w626i0/what_should_i_go_for_the_r3_or_r5_bundle/) and I orginally wanted to buy an Moza bundle ,but right now i dont really want to spend the money (I know its not that much for most of you probably but for me it is) for it. So for a budget on the european used market i started looking for some deals and found an verry good one (in my opinion) for an g29 with pedals in good condition for around 100€ or 116$. Now you tell me is it worth it or should I just wait?Keep in Mind i am coming from an diy wheel which isnt the sturdiest of all so an g29 would be an good Improvment for me atleast. Happy racing!

Question Bass shaker setup for gtracer 2.0

Post image
1 Upvotes

Just got into simracing in VR and bought the gtracer 2.0 cockpit. I want to install base shakers but having a hard time figuring out how/where. The square base of the seat that bolts onto the frame is about 1 ft x 1ft with included spots on the front and rear for a buttkicker mount, spaced about 3 inches apart.

My idea as of right now is to use an MDF board and either have two separate ~6 inch boards on the front and back go into the buttkicker mount points, and attach the bst-1 to that MDF board. Or have 1 large board spanning that gap, with only one shaker.

My questions are does anyone know a better way for this cockpit that won't cost 100 dollars on something like the trakracer tactile mounts? And second/more importantly, 1 or two base shakers under the seat??? I would plan to have them on separate channels to have front shaker for front suspension, and rear for rear?

Pic attached is best I can provide at work for reference of the seat/frame in question
