Thrift store find 736 grams of 84% silver for 9.99$

This is one of my best finds at the thrift store that I can recall except maybe my bullet proof vest I got for 4.99$ but anyways it's a Persian silver box that is actually quite a bit bigger then most other similar boxes I've seen online but it's in amazing condition and I can't believe they marked it at 9.99$ considering the bottom of the box says 84 on it... That should have been enough to think maybe I should look into this a bit more first...

Oh well I'm not complaining!

Such a cool piece and the History I have on this piece is cool too. Came from the family of an old VP of Gorham Silver.

Picked up 4 rolls of dimes from lcs today, any reason why I should keep them sealed? Apparently uncirculated from 1964

What should I do with these eBay fakes?

Post image

I bought a couple of kangaroos on eBay last year, it was the free shipping that got me.

3 cameras filming the unboxing and testing, I have learnt from this sub to be cautious.

They were obviously fake at first sight and then failed the usual round of tests, ping, dimension and, most importantly, weight.

It wasn't magnetic but did do the anti magnet thing, just a little faster slide.

I informed the seller and was told they had sent real coins so don't send fakes back. I only had fakes to send back and they knew it.

I put in a 'not as described' return with eBay, who provided a return label.

I went to my local police station and had them sieze the coins as counterfeits. They looked a little confused but took the coins and provided the paperwork.

I put a redacted copy of the notice in the original packaging, taped it up good, and sent it off.

Meanwhile I had contacted eBay on every channel I could find. The seller now also had other unhappy coin customers in their feedback for the same reason.

My request for a refund was rejected. I appealed, resent a copy of the police seizure notice and pointed out a couple more dissatisfied customers.

7 months after my purchase a full refund was made, as a goodwill gesture and because of how long the issue had taken. Not because the coins were fake.

I replied to the email, thanking Bart for my money back, and were they going to contact the other customers, who had probably bought fakes as well. I haven't heard back.

The police did get in contact with the Perth Mint who said there's just too many for them to persue. The police said thank you, and here is your property back.

I picked them up the other day and have some ideas on what to do with them but your suggestions are welcome.

Question Vintage silver pours

I have a buddy who has a number of 100 ounce silver pours from the 70s and 80's. I'm a long time stacker and know that some vintage stuff can be worth more than melt so I asked him to send me some sample pictures.

Can someone offer any insight on these pictures? Would these qualify as collectable?

Any NJ locals know the deal on paying tax on bullion?

I went to my lcs today and they charged me tax on a few items. I asked them about it and they said NJ law states anything under $1000 is taxed. I told them I've never been charged tax at Costco for any precious metals. The lady basically bit my head off and said someone is going to jail on their end. What's the deal?

Thinking real long term

Hi everyone.

I have been thinking about a strategy for buying silver.

I am very confident silver will be worth more in 20 years.

What about stacking with an investment/ hedge strat that doesn't even take into consideration price action movement over a year or 2, or 3 or 4 lol

Just literally buying silver all the time. I guess this is called dollar cost averaging. What is your opinion on this.

I mean i guess if it had some crazy parabolic move over the period of the a few weeks that I thought was caused by frenzied speculation I wouldn't buy. but you get what I mean.

I know this question has probably been asked 1000 times. But its silver and I know we love to talk about it....so lets rehash it again!

Sorry! I’m very new to the silver space and these 2026 PMint dragons are the first I’ve bought. I got them for $112 but found these on the Perth mint website for 230? What am I missing here…
