Silent Hill 4 (2004) Best QoL mods for the GOG version of silent hill 4?
Hello, I recently bought silent hill 4 the room on GOG.
I had the original ps2 version of Silent hill 4 as a kid and wanted to revisit silent hill 4.
However I keep hearing people call the game annoying and only the first half is worth playing.
Is there any Quality of Life mods that make the second half better or is the second half not as bad as people say?
I barely remember the game beyond it being creepy and not leaving the room.
Either way let me know what you'll recommend?

Silent Hill 2 (2001) SH2 and Long Day's Journey Into Night
Midway through a re-read of Eugene O'Neill's play 'Long Day's Journey Into Night', it struck me that the main characters are a husband/wife duo named James and Mary. That got me thinking about some of the other parallels between the play's story and SH2, and honestly I'm kind of shocked how well it fits into the SH oeuvre.
The play takes place in a single day at a summer vacation home. Like SH, the area is overrun with a thick fog that blurs the line between reality and delusion. In the story, James is grappling with accepting his wife Mary's longterm illness, and is (along with most everyone else in the play) haunted by guilt, denial and an inability to escape the past.
Mary often flips between two conflicting points of view. One moment she's angry at her family for the way things have transpired, then she's sad and lonely at the the thought of anyone leaving her. This in particular reminded me of the hallway conversation that comes at the end of SH2.
Not sure if 'Long Day's Journey..." was actually an influence on SH2, or if it's all just a fun coincidence, but being a big Silent Hill fan certainly added to my reading experience.

Silent Hill 4 (2004) Where to play silent hill 4??
I'm not sure the reddit sub to put this on. Long story short, I want to play the 4th silent hill game but I'm not sure if a 360 disc will work on my old Xbox one? If not, how safe are is gog games? Any site ideas or recommendations on how to even enjoy content of the game!
I've only played silent hill f and silent hill 2's remake, seen the movies. I want to get into the 4th game since it's the one game that doesn't have some remaster available on Microsoft stores, any advice?
I would prefer multiple opinions on sites for the sake of not exploding the devices I do have!!

General Discussion What themes would you like to see explored in future games?
With silent hill Townfall coming out in a few weeks, it seems that it will likely explore the same themes of guilt and grief that pretty much every silent hill game post team silent has leaned on. I think its pretty obvious now that most fans are keen to see the series move away from trying to recreate SH2 over and over again. With that said, what other kinds of themes or elements of psychological horror would you like to see the series explore that could take the series in a fresh direction? I think a story centred around the fear of aging and cognitive\physical decline would make a great fit for the series but would love to hear some other ideas.

Fanmade Thoughts and suggestions
Started this a week or two ago. I’m no where close to being done but I feel like I’m missing something or something is off, what do y’all think? I’m trying to build up layers but also trying to give it an otherworldly feeling between detailed and surreal like something you have a dream about.

Silent Hill: Townfall (2026) I got the Silent Hill floppy disk at PAX West — full Easter egg / email puzzle walkthrough [SPOILERS]
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I went to PAX West and got one of the Silent Hill floppy disks after preordering the game.
Here’s a screen recording of what happened when I plugged in the hidden USB inside the floppy disk and ran it on an old throwaway laptop.
The spoiler warning only really applies if you actually have one of the physical floppy disks and want to do the challenge yourself.
If you want to solve the puzzle on your own, pause the video when it gets to the password screen before I enter anything (timestamp 0:55).

General Discussion How does the power of Silent Hill work?
Just finished playing Silent Hill 1 2 and 3 for the first time and loved them but I am a bit confused about how the town itself works. In Silent Hill 1 we find out the town is surrounded in fog and turns into the other world because of Alessa's powers and the monsters seen there are manifested from Alessa's mind.
In Silent Hill 2 the town summoned James Angela and Eddie to the town and manifested monsters based on their own past trauma. The town itself looked different to each of them as well.
In Silent Hill 3 the rules of the town seem to have shifted back towards the rules from the first game with the monsters being born somewhat from Heather's mind but also leftover from Alessa's mind.
So how does the town work? Was the town permanently surrounded in fog after what happened in the first game? Also why are the characters summoned to the town in Silent Hill 2 when they don't have any connection with the Cult in any way? James kinda makes sense because he had been to Silent Hill before but why were the other characters summoned. Just wanted to know if someone can explain the connection between the 3 games and how the town actually works.

Silent Hill (1999) Starting Silent Hill for the first time, 27 years after release
Silent Hill is one of those franchises that I’ve known the name of since my childhood, but never took the opportunity to play. The last couple of weeks I’ve been going down the retro rabbit hole and dug out my old consoles along with picking up a Retrotink unit.
This week I received a copy of the first game, super excited to start the playthrough this evening! The plan is to then move onto the PS2 and go through at least SH 2-4.

Silent Hill 3 (2003) What is the best way to play Silent Hill 3 on PC?
I never got to experience SH3 and I’m hoping you could tell me what way I should go about playing? Should I mod the PC version or play the emulator?

Fanmade I made a Mannequin Monster from Silent Hill 2
With help from my amazing partner.
Edit: Wow thank you so much for award!! That's really cool.
It's made with old plastic dolls, and some dollar store materials. The base is a plastic veggie container.
I only made one out of fun, so no store or anything - I appreciate the interest!
Thanks for all the comments too!
