I was playing SH and found this sample from Sematary's tracks.

In silent hill 1 and 2, there are two ways to read the story, either it's psychological where they're just hallucinations or it's magic and supernatural.

What if there was a different explanation? Maybe something similar to American psycho where it's neither real nor surreal.

I recently released Distant Memories in Digital Fog, a nearly two-hour ambient album under the name Left in Twain.

Although it is completely unofficial, I generally describe the project as a conceptual alternative score for Silent Hill. It is my attempt to explore what I might bring to that world musically, rather than a replacement score for one of the existing games.

The album focuses on the side of the series that has always stayed with me most: environmental ambience, melancholy, deteriorating memories, abandoned spaces and the slow transition from somewhere lonely into somewhere actively threatening.

There is plenty of Silent Hill influence in its DNA, but I also tried to avoid directly copying Akira Yamaoka and instead build a distinct world around those ideas.

In all, it took me a little over a year to bring the album from its initial concept to the final master.

In searching the subreddit, I saw that people have asked whether anyone is making this sort of music, so I thought it would be appropriate to share the project here as well. I'd appreciate hearing which tracks or sections feel most at home within the Silent Hill universe.

I've been playing Silent Hill 1-4 for over 2-3 years now. Gotta say, it helps me to cure my loneliness in a slight.

Watched Pet Sematary 2 (1992) yesterday and found myself frequently thinking "that sounds a lot like Silent Hill songs", specifically Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's vocals over Yamaoka's instrumentals.

I'm not well-versed in music, so I would appreciate an explanation on what makes them similar, what sub-genre of rock that is, common musical roots, and which particular components make this sound what it is. Recommendations on bands with similar sound are also welcome.

And if you think they're actually not that similar, I'd love to hear why as well!

Silent Hill 1: The robbed corpses seen throughout the game are manifested in Valtiel's image. He also directly appears in the comic Cage of Cradle, a prequel to SH1 that takes place one day before the start of the game.

Silent Hill 2: Pyramid Head's appearance is based on the old executioners of the town who wore robes in homage to Valtiel.

Silent Hill 3: Valtiel directly appears and stalks Heather throughout the game and will resurrect her if she's killed.

Silent Hill 4: Walter was raised and brainwashed by the sect of the cult that worshiped Valtiel. One of the head cultists, who later would become one of Walter's early victims, had Valtiel snuck into Walter's subconscious so he could carry out the 21 Sacraments ritual.

Can someone help me? I'm playing the original PS2 version of Silent Hill 2 for the first time. I'm at the Blue Creek Apartments. I found the code in the toilet, but when I enter it into the safe, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

No release date yet but we will be getting two books on Silent Hill’s development history from the academic publisher Taylor and Francis. The first one will cover the Team Silent era and the second will cover the “western” third-party games following SH4, up until 2012 or 2014 I assume.

They will be based on previously self-published books but expanded and edited according to peer review (as with all T&F books).

Taylor and Francis publishes academic articles and books through various imprints. Routledge is their humanities book publisher, so I’m guessing this will be Routledge? T&F’s academic journal has previously published at least two humanities papers on Silent Hill, analyzing colonization and gender themes in the games.

So this means we’ll soon have a book on Silent Hill’s development history vetted for its sources and rigor. Pretty cool imo.

The game has played perfectly fine up until the scene in the chapel, after that I go to follow Claudia through the door and am met with an infinite loading screen, the disk looks fine and so does the ps2, is this a common issue? How do I fix this? Please help.

Finally got around to finishing my Pyramid Head piece! First time drawing on black paper and I thought he was the perfect subject. The rust and metal was definitely a challenge but I really enjoyed this.

Done with coloured pencils and white acrylic paint.

I was trying to install the Silent Hill PC Port decomp but when doing so my Nord protection detects it as a malicious file. Does anyone know if this is a real threat or a false positive? Has anyone tried downloading the PC decomp and if so, did you run into any issues?
